They turned down Tidal because Joe asked for the analytics and Jay said no up front. Joe has no hard feelings about the Jay shit cause at least Jay said no up front
Joe asked Spotify and they said yeah, only to not give him anything and gave a bunch of bullshit excuses (glitches, etc).
And Spotify looks shaky because they giving them all these bullshit trinkets and plaques for being number 1 instead of the actual compensation and analytics like they were promised. And on top of that, they wanted to renegotiate a new contract within 8 months of their current one to sign them all to 360 deals.
Actually there is no difference between being and “Owner” or “Employee”. It is all about being paid your worth. In this situation, CTG is being paid his worth but Joe is not.
For CTG, it may not be in his best interest to own his content. Ownership comes with a lot of overhead cost. Payroll is usually 40 to 50% of your operating cost. I heart radio has a large distribution footprint that is unmatched. It would cost CTG millions for compete in that space.
That is fair but Joe doesn’t go at Charlamagne for him choosing this route. He legit goes out his way to say that CTG has the right to want to work for money only. He goes at him for critiquing his own decision to try to get ownership and then calling Spotify out for their shady business practices. Basically this whole conflict is due to Charlamagne talking about business issues he can’t relate too and his ignorant attempt to try to spin it like Budden is wrong for wanting to invest in himself .

The problem I see is that Joe do not know how to conduct business and I think that is CTG entire point.
Joe be on some, let me conduct business on some street shit. When negotiations don’t go his way he tries to put people on blast (keepin it Real) and be the loudest in the room.
In negotiations, companies will always attempt to broker a deal in their favor. But when things don’t go right you can’t run your mouth. That will prevent anyone from doing business with you.
Also his tone in how he asked questions was probably way off. When you talking to people who are worth a few billion, they are not going to allow Joe to talk to them any kind of way.
See this is why his business deals are not the best. Many receive favorable deals because they are easy to work with. Joe does not seem easy to work with

Char trying to shop the "black network deal" to spotify but they didn't pay what he wanted. So he resigned to iheart for less than he wanted.
Said he was offered that deal first but declined it because he's not gonna help spotify cheat black creators taking half of their revenue and not doing shit for it.
Said char went to a lot of other dsps trying to get more money but they told him to gtfoh.
Said he believes but has no proof that char is the one behind the smear campaign because it's coming indirectly from char acquaintances and iheart employees. Does not think it was spotify.

I haven't listened but I'm slightly disappointed Joe felt the need to talk shit instead just delivering. He could be right about it being CTG but why even give it energy unless you have real proof. It just comes off like you're trying to blame others for your current failures or problems.
As far as the new deal goes, I kind find it hard to believe or this is a very new event. Joe's attitude on one of the recent podcast seem to say things are not or were not moving in a positive direction. He just seemed depressed and I can't see someone who is winning behind the scenes sitting on their podcast but not really adding value and acting like an ass to his team at times.
The thing that irritates me with black entertainers is acting as if they are so about the black community and yet they constantly attack each other over the most petty of shit.by no means am I on the streets empowering black people but I'm also not saying shit just because it sounds or looks good. The same can be said with CTG and Joe when it comes to the new mental health kick that everyone is trying to claim now.
Joe's great idea is to exploit a (i assume) black woman that was supposedly victimized by a black man who he currently isn't on good terms with as a form of revenge. This is what he considers uplifting and empowering the black community? Is CTG going to do the same with the woman Joe has supposedly beat?
