Oh, are we listening to “Sarah Spain”?

I thought she would‘ve been quiet on everything...

Because she’s a real piece of shit, I’m surprised that we haven’t canceled her yet.

Wasn't worthy of being posted to get her clicks for that shit

I love the let's not forget people, as if they're saying some original shit.

The shit is dangerous when you convict people off accusations and not convictions.

Wasn’t worthy at all, I’m hoping there’s a backlash.

Dude was trying his best to call him a bitch and pussy without using those words.

So now we're supposed to pretend there isn't a difference in the genders. :hmm:

The Washington Post reversed its controversial decision to suspend reporter Felicia Sonmenz over her Retweet of a 2016 Daily Beast story about the sex assault allegations against Kobe Bryant after he died Sunday in a helicopter crash.

Post Managing Editor Tracy Grant called Sonmez's Tweets "ill-timed" though they weren't in "clear and direct violation" of the paper's social media policy, which appears to need revision. It was ridiculous that she got suspended in the first place.

According to Sonmez, she felt compelled to remind the Twitterverse about the accusations against Bryant, given the overwhelmingly positive comments from

grieving fans on the social media site. She didn't comment on the Daily Beast story in her Retweet and was surprised by the backlash that resulted.

"Because The Post does have policies governing these things, all I did was tweet out a link to the story," she told The New York Times. "I didn't think it was my place to provide any further commentary."

Nonetheless, her action struck legions of Bryant's fans on Twitter as unfair to Bryant's family because prosecutors dropped the criminal case against him. Bryant, though, settled a civil lawsuit over the 2003 incident in Colorado. He issued a public apology to the victim, saying: "Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did."

If Sonmez were a man, the reaction to her Retweet might have been much different given the pervasive online harassment of female journalists.

A 2018 survey by TrollBusters and the International Women's Media Forum found that about 2 out of 3 respondents reported being threatened or harassed online at least once. Slightly more said they had physical threats or harassment. Even more depressing was the 40 percent who avoided specific stories as the result of being harassed.

A study in the academic journal Feminist Media Studies found that articles written by women in the U.K's Guardian newspaper attracted a higher percentage of blocked comments than those written by men regardless of the subject matter.

"This effect was heightened when the articles ran in a particularly male-dominated section of the site (like sports)," according to the 2018 study, which examined 70 million reader comments.

Pointing out unpleasant facts about a beloved athlete who died at the prime of his life isn't going to win a reporter any popularity contests. It's appalling that Somnez felt so threatened that she reportedly checked into a hotel. It also was heartening to see her colleagues at the Post rally to her side.

Interestingly, many of the tributes to Bryant are avoiding much discussion of his strained relationship with his mother and father, even though it is an important part of his life's story. According to the U.K.'s Sun newspaper, Bryant was "desperately trying to reconcile with his parents" at the time of his death.

Too bad that's no longer possible.

I want Sexton off the team. It seems like people will blame him for every single thing. I don't understand, why he gets so much hate from fans but fans will ride for a dude that's trying to force his way off the team.

Sexton was in a no win situation due to Porter's stupidity but fuck the facts I guess...

Seriously, in the week where #girldad was the top hashtag in the U.S. for an entire day or more, that was an especially ignorant comment. There are a lot of women who are tougher than a lot of men. And you all seem to forget that he said that dumb shit at work while representing his employer. If your masculinity rests on disrespecting women, something is wrong with you.

It's funny because i've been in that situation(obviously not in the NBA) and I'm sure I did the same type of movements. It looks funny and maybe dumb but shit mentally you're trying to figure out how the hell you're going to guard two dudes at one time and also HOW IN THE HELL you ended up in this predicament in the first place. Shout out to Colin for being there cuz his teammates sure weren't.

And I'm out of fucks to give in terms of watching the Allstar game. Ben Simmons over Spencer Dinwiddie
I'm a Sixers fan for life and I'm still pissed. Ben has been balling lately while Joel is out. Spencer been balling all season while both Kyrie and KD has been out. Another player who's hard work isn't rewarded because he isn't as popular as someone else. This whole thing is a popularity contest.

I dont know man... Theres been bigger snubs then Simmons over Dinwiddie. I find that both guys are deserving, one guy made the cut and the other one couldnt. Its like that every year.

That's very true. My issue with this snub in particular is the message that it send both players.

For Dinwiddie it's like, "Am I doing something wrong?" Which he isn't. He balling his ass off this season and some nights is single-handedly keeping the Nets relevant.

For Simmons it's like, "I guess my game is where it should be since I keep making the allstar team." Which it isn't cause allstars shouldn't be afraid to shoot the ball. Maybe not making the team this year after making it last year could have shown Ben that he needs to evolve his game some more.

Does anybody have access to The Athletic to post this?

Here you go

The room sat silent. An emotional Rob Pelinka had just finished addressing the Lakers for the first time since Kobe Bryant’s death two days earlier. His anguish was evident. Now, Frank Vogel, emceeing a luncheon designed for members of the organization to collectively grieve, had opened the floor at the team’s El Segundo headquarters to anyone who wanted to share their own stories about Bryant.

No one spoke. Finally, after about 15 seconds of silence, LeBron James rose from his seat. “I’ll go,†he said.

For more than 10 minutes, Lakers players, staff members and executives, including owner Jeanie Buss, sat rapt as James shared stories from his battles with Bryant as opponents and their time as teammates in two Olympics. The group was gathered in an event suite overlooking the team’s practice court, directly across the gym from where the Lakers championship trophies could be seen in Buss’ office window.

When James redirected his focus to what lies ahead for the grieving franchise, James said he could handle the burden of playing through grief in pursuit of the Lakers’ 17th championship.

“God gave me wide shoulders for a reason,†James said, according to multiple people who were present.

The lunch served as the first formal team gathering since the Lakers learned of Bryant’s death while they were on a flight home from Philadelphia. The Lakers legend was on a helicopter that crashed in a hillside in Calabasas, killing all nine people aboard, including Bryant’s 13-year-old daughter Gianna.

When Pelinka, who was Bryant’s longtime agent before he joined the Lakers, addressed the room, he told stories about Bryant and “Gigi†sharing a love for basketball. They were flying to her game Sunday morning, and other victims of the crash included two teammates, three parents and a coach.

Among those who also spoke were senior basketball adviser Kurt Rambis; assistant coaches Lionel Hollins, Phil Handy, Miles Simon and Mike Penberthy, who won a championship with Bryant as a backup point guard for the Lakers in 2001; and Dwight Howard.

Howard, who left the Lakers after one season in 2013 on bad terms with Bryant, returned as a free agent last summer, and their relationship had begun to thaw. In the fall, Bryant told the Los Angeles Times that Howard was “going to have a hell of an impact on the Lakers.†The former adversaries joked around when Bryant attended a game in November, and last week, days before Bryant’s death, Howard had begun to campaign for his former teammate to assist him in next month’s dunk contest.

Tears were mixed with some laughter, sources said, as the stories about Bryant flowed and the Lakers began the seemingly monumental undertaking of moving forward.

By Tuesday, the league was grinding back into motion. It was the third day of games since the crash, and general managers were working the phones in anticipation of next week’s trade deadline. But in Los Angeles, there has been a sense of basketball paralysis.

How could the Lakers ever get back to basketball when the whole city and a global fanbase were grieving? The NBA postponed the Lakers game against the Clippers on Tuesday, due to an understanding that the Lakers would not be ready to play in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Just days earlier, nothing felt bigger than that matchup. The city’s two teams fighting for supremacy in the Western Conference. There was pressure for the Lakers to avoid falling to 0-3 in the season series. The game mattered.

How long will it be before anything feels that important again?

Time, presumably, will help. The Lakers will not play now until Friday against Portland, giving them five days to process Bryant’s death and steel themselves for a return to the court. The team had a light shootaround-type practice on Tuesday and is scheduled for a full practice on Wednesday morning.

The Lakers will slowly get back to the business of basketball. And in time, that may start to feel like the most significant thing again. At least sometimes.

“It’s never going to feel normal,†one Lakers official said. “It won’t.â€
