I addressed this in my other reply. We have nothing else to discuss, your goals are totally different from mine and most black folks I know, and I don't think your strategy will work. Anyone who reads your posts tho needs to do so with the understanding that you don't want voting to work. You're like the GOP who don't like Obamacare, so every argument they make against it isnt for the reasons they state: that it's bad for America, there are better options, they have a better plan that will help more people etc, they simply don't like it, want to destroy it and seek to actively sabotage it.
Before, I thought we were debating in good faith. I figured the same goals were there, just a disagreement on how to get it done. I knew you had shifted from "don't vote" to suddenly withholding votes, when you weren't casting votes to withhold in the first place, but there are so many people that debating this, I questioned if I remembered correctly. This holding votes for tangibles is just an extension of your don't vote rhetoric, but what you REALLY mean is that WE should withhold our votes, not because they won't be effective, but because you don't want black folks participating in a system you want to bring down. Good luck with that.
There is a discussion to be had on the merits of our democracy, how to get more benefit and power, but when your entire premise, which either I didn't notice or which went unvoiced until now, is that instead of learning the game to get results others get, instead of improving it, you destroy it, then we aren't having the same discussion anymore.

Neither party or this country even, was for black slaves, but they were for full fledged Americans, which we are supposed to be now. So are we Americans with the birthright of an American or not? We need to exercise our power like other groups do, as though we are ENTITLED to it, and not something we are being allowed to participate in. Voter suppression is an act against Americans. Yes, our community has specific needs, but this is true amongst every group and within every group.

I went back and edited the other post, but it all makes sense now. We weren't having the same discussion. He wants to destroy the system and thinks black folks not participating will make it happen. I suppose if we continue to let the GOP gain power and make laws we'd eventually get there, but our status in this country would only regress. He has some fantasy of a great awakening and over throw and it's not going to happen.
Many people have mixed families, friends, family and co-workers of other races and nationalities. There are white folks who can be in all white towns and be convinced all blacks or Muslims etc all the enemy, but relationships are more complicated. Most black folks and other PoC have relationships of some sort with folks of other races, even if it's just their doctor, dentist, teacher or waitress.
When it comes to forcing change there are a few ways to do it. 1)You can take it by force, which we don't have the numbers or firepower to do. 2)You can beg and plead and hope some throws you a bone. It can be effective, even with the loss of dignity and respect. The squeaky wheel gets the grease type of situation. 3)You can advocate from a position of power, which I've outlined before. Black folks should have the moral highground and be able to influence like the Jews do in regard to their mistreatment. There is a difference in getting reparations for healing and getting it to make others pay, and how this is presented can determine who you win to your cause. Folks don't want to walk in power like Jews do. Their focus wasnt on other groups like this anti immigrant rhetoric we see, it was square on the harm done to them. 4) Finally, tho I'm open to other suggestions, you can educate the public and push legislation. It makes no sense not to get allies. If reparations were approved tomorrow and all dems voted out as backlash, what's the plan to keep them? Laws can be passed but they can be challenged in court and new laws written to negate them. When Tanehisi Coates went to Congress and spoke on reparations, there were white folks on social media who said they had never heard of redlining and other things to disenfranchise black folks. So I think it needs to be a combination of 3 and 4.
It doesn't matter tho. Like I said, we don't have the organization and vision with clear goals people can rally behind. I've tried over and over again to get them to articulate one, but it's all been BS from the beginning, a plot to destroy the system. They were just lying and trying to use reparations as a vehicle to talk folks out of voting to make it happen. Now I understand why they got so angry when we asked for a plan and why folk thought we are were going to get reparations out of thin air and no legislation passed. I was struggling for a bit, and it was frustrating. I didn't understand how or why you and your two amigos were so resistant to suggestions to actually try to get your stated goal accomplished.
