He's just being simple-minded. Firing the DNI chief right when there is about to be a massive partisan fight over national intelligence because of Mueller's statement about ongoing election attacks by the Russians (which Trump continues to deny) is just "business as usual". This is all part of the coverup. heist is a smart idiot.

Exactly my point. Everyone he appoints is part of the cover up. The more loyalist he appoints, the more he can deny and cover it.

Trump is a psychopath who has never read a book in his entire life, but he's an expert criminal. Barr took care of Mueller and neutered that entire investigation. At this point, Trump has consolidated so much power that we're getting close to the point where he won't be able to be stopped. He's running the authoritarian/autocrat playbook with precision right now. Every country that lives through the transition doesn't think it's going to happen UNTIL it actually happens.

I have no doubt that Trump will try to stay on past his term if he can swing it. Dude has authoritarian instincts and a pliable base of cultists (and uncritical enlightened centrists) who will pave the way "just for a while"... while some manufactured crisis is brought to heel.

The counterintelligence aspect of the investigation into Trump was always bigger than Mueller's mandate. He's trying to get out in front of that now that he feels Mueller is done. That's his next major liability and it's bigger than Mueller's investigation. it's much more nefarious in nature

You write as if the certain members of the Intelligence Committee & CIA wouldn't have to justify why they allowed Clinton to use her connections to weaponize the agency resources and leverage John O. Brennan into deploying assets against a political opponent - something which the current DOJ is also looking into.

Yeah, this pendulum swings BOTH ways. There is a very good reason why Pelosi & Schumer haven't green lighted an impeachment yet. It would be like swallowing the poison pill. Sometimes better to let sleeping dog stay sleeping dog stay sleeping and fight it out at the polls in the next cycle.
