I wouldn't say owned, but she was caught completely off guard with HOmans logical answer. There was even an awkward pause as she tried to gather herself. A lot of women argue with emotion overriding logic and that shit can and often does backfire. She kept pressing for an answer to that question and she got one she COMPLETELY wasn't expecting. Especially when he gave example of American citizens breaking laws when they are with children. But when she tried to clap back about them not breaking the law and simply seeking asylum he had a logical rebuttal for that also. That's when she tried to wrap it up.

They’re supposed to be able to go to the port of entry and present themselves and file a claim but the Trump administration has limited itself to only 40 people a day, even though they’re several hundred there trying, that’s why they’re crossing illegally but Trump won’t allow them to present themselves.

From what I recall entering the country illegally is a misdemeanor. We can argue about whether it should be a felony or not, but it is a misdemeanor. This is punishable by fine, but never incarceration. I can't think of any misdemeanor that requires jail time and separation of ones children from their parents.

But he stated the memo is about recommendations on protecting the border and zero tolerance is included. And the problem with zero tolerance is that it can be exploited. But this is the problem with so many other American laws. It is the same reason why Marissa Alexander served time in jail for firing a warning shot yet George Zimmerman was set free. Both used the "Stand your Ground" argument. Simply put, zero tolerance laws and policies suck. Remember the war on drugs and what it did to the minority communities?

Yes, for the most part asylum can be claimed anywhere in the US. But that is limited to those who are in the US. For those who are trying to sneak into the US, it is classified as a crime. But that is what border patrol does, the engage with migrants at non Points of Entry and engage with migrants before they enter the US. For them, the asylum claim is not a given.
