Here in the DMV prices have climbed anywhere from $25 to $40. My barber started at $20 3 years ago, then went to $25 for a year and beginning on January 1st $30 for a fade.

Please note the trend that will start to be popular with your barbers soon that is catching on here... your barber will start taking Scalp Micropigmentation classes and start charging even more.

Not at all accurate. The young man, who is 25, owns the building and has a barbershop and a gym that he runs. His brother, who was there, actually lives in San Diego, Ca. They are both business men and understand supply and demand. He normally charges $20 but it's graduation season so it is what it is. Can't blame the young man for that.

I started cutting my own hair. I was only getting Caesars,

I feel the OPs pain. When I first moved to Columbus, Ohio from the west coast all I found was mediocre barbers who didn't speak the same language as my barber back home. If you tell a barber here you want a bald temple fade they look at you like you're speaking Japanese.
After a long arduous period I finally found a barber who understood what I wanted and who could cut really, really, well. I went to him religiously for a couple years. He charged $18.00 for a cut and shave. With a tip I paid $23-25 (depending on how much cash I had at the time).

Long story short, about 3 years ago he raised his prices to $25.00 a cut. At the time, my salary broke down to a little over $20 an hour. So obviously I felt some type of way about that Nigga making twice as much (if not more) than me and raising his prices.

So I quit fucking with him. It took me several months to find another barber I felt good about. My new barber didn't cut as good as my former one, but it was more about principal. However, last summer he ended up raising his cost to $25.00 per cut too.

I'm about to hit up my old barber and lie and say I moved away for a minute, but now I'm back, which is why he hasn't cut my hair in so long.
