The standard rate at Black barbershops is now $35-$40

Fuck barbers.. Ain't paid for a hair cut in
5 ..10 divide by 6 carry the 2..wait.. Oh fuck it.. It's been a long time.

I cut my own hair.. Shit. Can't have your hair just floating round every damn where. Especially round haitians. Fuck that.

$30? :hmm: Is he dusting your fade with gold dust or something? Man my cut is only $12

Yep!

See this what's wrong with the black community we don't support each other.

We go give our money to Lin Yung Fuk and 'em instead to cut our hair or up the street to the Puerto Rican barbershop or the white girl at super cuts.

But won't give our local barber who we been going to for years $30 for a cut.

Man that's what's wrong with our community.

If my barber is black and he say you gotta pay $100 for a cut you should pay cuz that means you support black business if you don't your against the black community.

fuck outta here.

i am not paying becky at super cuts, chan at the asian spot or juan 30 bucks either. i used to faithfully pay 25 plus 5 every friday for a fade. fuck that. that's 120 per month for cuts. i bought some professional shears and liners and started fading my own hair. and doing a better job than the people that had been cutting my hair did. i always kept a tight line anyway because i always freshened my line up. i just needed to learn how to fade.

on top of that i am paying that much to sit around for 30 to 120 minutes or longer sometimes with an appointment. hell naw man.

i am supporting black finances. my own black finances....

Most places In the 5 boroughs In NY is usually 20 plus 5 for the tip depending on what you want done. I know a lot of shops rent the chair to the barber(don,t remember If It's per month or week, but the rental price Is fairly high) and want them to have a valid license. I've seen cats without a license get dimed out, the inspectors would come and the cat would have to leave or else the shop would get closed down.
150-200 per week..that's the chair rental fee

Man see, that's what the black community don't need.

More black men cutting their own hair bringing down the steelo of the average black man.

We gotta support black business man if you don't that's not supporting the black community.

The dollar wont circulate in our community if you don't spend it in the black community.

You gotta pay that $120 a month for cuts man the black community is depending on you bro don't give up the fight.

We all in this together.

Don't be cheap and try to save money then ball out at the Walmart for some Wahl clippers and give the money right back to the white man.

We gotta ball out at the barbershop for that $30 cut.

So what if we gotta wait forever in a day at least we can say we support black owned.

So what if your line get fucked up a lil bit tip anyway.

C'mon man.

naw, i got professional clippers.

and i support my community. i am just being smarter with my cash AND time.

Yeah cuts in Houston, average is $30.
I fly up to NY on diff occasions and my barber charges me $15. I give him $40 regularly.

The problem I have is Houston barbers are on no level with NY barbers. I have a few barbers in Brooklyn that I can check and they are all on point. Houston, I've been to a few and they pale in comparison.

My other major gripe with some of these southern barbers is this asinine holiday cut schedule. God forbid if Easter, Thanksgiving, Xmas, school starting or some other shit. They will raise their prices to $40 and $50 and up.

I made other posts about it.

For the prices some of them charge, I'm walking out with my son paying $80 and up.

I've gone to Sports Clips, SuperClips or the likes when I just didn't feel like waiting hours or for when half these dudes are available.

It's comical.

Cmon man let the hair professionals do that man.

You don't need no professional clippers man.

Support the local black barber bro. Pay that $30 the black community needs you.

So what if you a little bit broker than before at least the black community gon eat.

Here in the DMV prices have climbed anywhere from $25 to $40. My barber started at $20 3 years ago, then went to $25 for a year and beginning on January 1st $30 for a fade.

Please note the trend that will start to be popular with your barbers soon that is catching on here... your barber will start taking Scalp Micropigmentation classes and start charging even more.

Yo, I've been looking into this seriously after seeing it on Instagram. Its some dude here training damn near everybody. Hopefully the more people certified in it will drive the pricing down.

The OP must be near DC.

SC is $12 with a straight razor edge up.
Not in columbia. Mine on two notch went to $25 last year haven’t seen him since. I go my old barber on the base. I might have to go check out those barber colleges though.

EXACTLY!!! Get your own clippers and cut your own damn hair.

Pro-Tip - Buy quality clippers and a quality trimmer! You might spend $60-$100 for some decent clippers/trimmers, but it's well worth the investment.

You got that right.. Spend the money up front on a good pair of clippers and guards, keep them clean and oiled, they will pay for themselves after a few years..

I remember when you could get a cut for $8. Now I don’t understand the if this greed or what but this is why niggaz don’t want to support negro businesses.

The student did a fantastic job on my haircut.
He did both hair and beard all for $5.
The instructors were occasionally pacing back and forth making sure the students were doing what they were taught.
There were about four of five students cutting, and it was about 10 people waiting for haircuts.
And the beauty salon was FULL of women getting their hair done.

Dude I work with went to a barber institute to get licensed for his side hustle and after he finished, I started going to see how good the new students where. $5 for the cut, plus $5 tip to the barber, and I'm good.

Man that's stealing money out your barbers pockets.

We can't be cheap when we support the black community.

We gotta pay whatever black business say we gotta pay for their service.

That's how we grow as a community. Not by being cheap and only paying $5

You should give the rest of that $15 dollars you saved to your barber for free just to let him know you still support black business professionals.

If you don't that means your against the black community.

Bruh, I gotta disagree with you on that one!! Im going to search around and find the price that going to work for me.. I aint paying whatever the black business says it is!! You can, I aint!!

For me its not about who does more work...tipping at a bar gets you faster service in a room full of people. i may be wrong but it sounds like most the cats in here tip the barber "just cause" and not i dont do valet...most might think im just being cheap but a tip has to add value to me....is the barber going to cut my hair better based on my tip?

My barbershop just went up to $25 for a standard haircut.
I always tip $5 on top of the service, but I can't do it anymore.
There's just no way to justify paying $30 for a taper fade.
I can't believe it costs this much to get a haircut now. :smh:

Since I don't know how to cut my own shit, I'd been looking for alternatives.
So a friend of mine told me he goes to the barber college near his house to get his haircuts for $5.
He said they give fire ass haircuts and most of the students have been cutting hair for years, but just going to school to do it LEGALLY.
So I took his advice and went to one too.
The haircut I got was actually better than my "go-to" barber for the last five years.
Not to mention I saved $20.
No talking on the cell phone, random arguments, smoke breaks or walking next door to the store.
I was in and out.
I'm not going to my barbershop ever again.
Honestly sounds about right.

My homeboy is a barber I sat there one day and watch him charge this Spanish cat $65 for a cut and beard line up... And the guy willingly paid it, gave a tip, then said he'd see him in two weeks.

You not getting a haircut here in Jersey for under $20 unless a fuckin junkie doing it. Mine is $25 and I tip my barber $5. Get my shit done every Friday. Some of you muthafuckas cheap as hell. Where the hell you getting your breakfast cereal from the fuckin food bank? :smh: Your grandmothers are ashamed of you. :smh:
