It's clear the North had some type of agreement with the White Walkers because they've stayed away and would only come down to get the babies to bring back to the Night King to convert. Literally, they wouldn't even kill people ... they just wanted the babies. Multiples time a white walker could have killed Sam and he didn't.. that's how Sam killed a white walker the first time when one knocked him down because he was between him and the baby....and then Sam stabbed him in the back with the dragon glass.. the white walker almost acted surprised by it before he did.

That's one of the many things I love about this show, it's so MANY ways the last two battles (upcoming EPIC one at Winterfell and the last one at Kings Landing) could play out. Speaking of Winterfell, it looked like HUGE multitude of White Walker Knights on the front lines
Army aside, the Knight King is quite a force to be reckoned with:
can follow/track the 3-eyed raven on another plane
super strength
can earthquake split the ground just by touching the floor
walk through dragon fire like it's air
raise the dead for additional foot soldiers
ice sword (not sure if even valaryan steel will be enough of a counter in a one on one sword fight)

I have a feeling that vision Bran saw of the large Dragon Shadow flying over King’s Landing will be the Night King (riding Viseryon) LAYING WASTE to the Red Keep & the Golden Company, at the same time.
See, I think it’s NOT gonna end up as 2 separate battles. First the battle against the Night King, followed by the battle between Cersei and Dany for the Throne, like everyone expects.
Cersei and Dany BOTH think the ‘war for the Iron Throne’ will be fought against EACH OTHER... after the Night King is dealt with.
But Nah, I think this shit is gonna be ONE big-assed, 3-sided War between the Night King vs. Everybody Else (ie The North AND The South) all at the same time.
Because the ‘real war’ for the Iron Throne is against The Night King himself. And they gonna realize that shit too late.
Think about it... if the Night King got about 100,000 Troops... why send them ALL to Winterfell all at once?
He could topple Winterfell with just 1/2 or 1/3
of them... and send the rest South.
First, I predict the Night King is gonna completely cut-off the North from the South.
and take some of his Troops ‘somewhere else’... just like Robb did to Jamie... then Jamie did to Tyrion by going to HighGarden unexpectedly. Divide & Conquer.

If that Dragon could melt The Wall... which was a SOLID MOUNTAIN made of Ice, Rocks & MAGIC SPELLS... then imagine the damage it could do to ‘normal wooden houses’ made with a few bricks... with barrels of Wildfire stored in the basement?
Plus I think that the vision that Dany had (in the House of the Undying) at the end of season 2... was foreshadowing.

By the end of the show...
Dany & Jorah, Sam/Gilly/Little Sam, and some Dothrakis will end up in Dragonstone... Sansa, Bran, Arya & Gendry will end up in Winterfell... Grey Worm & Missande, with Sir Davos plus a handful of Unsullied Soldiers will head to Naath.
They will be the only survivors of the Great War.
After almost a decade of being ‘stuck in the friendzone’... Jorah gonna be the ‘last man’ to give Dany some stiff backshots.
But everyone else is gonna take a ‘dirt nap’ at some point between episodes 3-6.

The walker Jon killed - looked surprised too
The only person with an agreement was Craster - he gave up male babies and the walkers spared him and his women

one explanation now could be that Bran getting the mark on him defeats the magic of the wall just like it did the 3 eye raven's tree
the show does horrible job explaining the wall and NK's options.... in the books Martin was building multiple ways for the wall to be defeated

They clearly don't just aimlessly kill people. That's also proven by the agreement with Craster. And obviously, with Craster THEY HAD TO COME TO AN AGREEMENT! So that tells you the White Walkers can be REASONED with. That blows up any idea that they are just killing for killing's sake. And as they have an agreement with Craster. How do we know that's the only person they have that type of agreement with? They're literally taking babies straight to the Night King.
What ended the first war with the White Walkers? They tell us all in this isn't the first war with them.
The Night King wants something...and it's not just death. And something that's happened hs kicked off the war... the drop hints but never clearly explain it. In some way, the people in the North likely broke the agreement
and I asked a question and then described a fucking scene from season 3 (where the white walker could have easily killed Sam and just push him down to go and get the baby). There isn't anything wrong in my post.
