Yes he placed himself in the situation, and what probably set everything off was some slick shit coming from his mouth, but the kids need to back off and not be going face to face with grown folk. Growing up, if an adult was out of pocket, yeah as kids we might pop off at the mouth, but we weren’t trying to get up in their face. We went to our parents. Then they would handle that shit adult to adult.

Wish I knew the back story....based on what the video shows he should have kept his hands to himself....yes he got a little shove first...should have swallowed his pride and kept it moving...if he was with his family he will use the "protecting his family" reasoning....but that punch was about ego and anger....video didnt show him to be in a me or you situation just yet...shoulda just went back in the theater with his people and have them call the police if it was like that...grown folks shouldn't escalate shit...he is very lucky although I suspect he scanned the crowd before he threw that punch

A Black Mountain man has been charged after a fight Saturday at Asheville Mall.
Asheville police said a fight involving juveniles broke out at the mall Saturday evening, and, during the fight, David Steven Bell pushed a juvenile as well as hit her.
An off-duty officer arrested Bell, 51, of Black Mountain, and he is charged with assault on a female under 12 and two counts of assault on a female.
Video of the incident, which is under investigation, has been been making rounds on social media.
In the video, Bell can be seen surrounded by a group of juveniles. At one point, the camera turned away. Next, a girl came toward Bell, and he shoved her. When the same girl came back, he can be seen punching her in the face.
Adults have to be adults in situations involving kids and must behave accordingly. He should have just walked away and recorded if they were in the wrong. However with no back story very little can be said on who's side was responsible for the initial confrontation. Yet if he was the target he could have reported this to the police and then the parents/guardians would have to bare some of the responsibility(something that should be done anyway). Still as an adult you must not happen into a tense situation with children. He will at the very least get probation, but we really now he needs a stomping out. At the end of the day he acted irresponsibly and wanted smoke with some kids. So whatever he gets is fine by me. Also if any black males were in the area and did noting they some losers as well. True kids in groups can be wild when unsupervised but there is still not excuse to be in a situation like that.

This little girl under the age of twelve was attacked by a full grown man who works with children. He actually works with children. He couldn't have restrained her? Walked away? Called the authorities? He's the adult and because he works with children is expected to have some knowledge of conflict resolution. He was itching to hit somebody, maybe even her and that's why he was arrested. Her male relatives need to pay him a visit.

The incident is under further investigation, police spokeswoman Christina Hallingse said Sunday.
All victims at the time of the incident refused transport to a hospital, she said.
