In response, Susan Rice, former National Security Advisor to President Obama, responded with a simple “me.” The tweet quickly went viral, with many flocking to Rice to encourage her to run against Collins. Clearly, there is a deeply felt desire to oust the Republican coward.

This, all day. Once Flake and Collins were onboard with a Yes, she knew that she could safely vote No and not throw anything off. Same reason that Manchin voted Yes, just in reverse.
There's nothing brave about any of these people.
Flake and Collins pushed for an investigation most likely knowing that they wouldn't let anything significant be uncovered. We still don't know what's in the FBI report to begin with. But it gave them cover to say that they're concerns were addressed. And the way Collins droned out that BS speech today makes me think that she was never really considering voting No to begin with (her voting history backs this as well).
Basically, this was just a GOP okey-doke to try and distract voters from how ill equipped their nominee was. And barring a last minute surprise from someone, it seems to have worked.
I just hope that all of the people that are discouraged by these events remember to go and vote in November, and that all of the people that are so happy this happened right now remember it when the sword swings the other way.

Hate to say it but the repubs are winning BIGLY right now, from a macro level that is. Sure the dimwitted CACs that support them are getting screwed, but the repugs have executed their agenda totally unchallenged.
Even though we all saw this coming, I’m surprised at how deflated I feel. All of this shit is just wrong and your mind tells you that there is NO way this can go down like THIS, but day after day, week after week, month after month, they just keep(in the words of that evil turtle faced CAC mconne) “plowing” through.
In this situation, they did as much as they could.
However, they ceded this battle when they went through the entire 2016 GE without even mentioning Merrick Garland.
They thought Hillary had it in the bag and it wouldn’t matter. They didn’t even use it as a tool to drive the GOTV strategy.
While Mitch was on the senate floor saying it would be unprecedented to block a nominee.
And most of them didn't even bring it up in any major way these past few weeks. It's like they're scared to talk about it in some big way, like there's some kinda way it could backfire. I don't know what could be worse than what's going on right now, but I'm willing to roll the dice at this point.
When Ms Lindsey Graham was having a fit during the hearing, it was the perfect timing to hit back with that.
