Jimmy Butler has formally requested to be traded away from Minnesota.
Wow. Butler presented Minnesota management with a list of 1-3 teams that he'd be interested in signing a contract extension with, and one of those teams is assuredly the Lakers. The Wolves will likely want to get rid of Butler prior to camp, so things could move somewhat quickly here, as his value will decline throughout the year. With Butler set to leave Minnesota, Luol Deng could potentially open the year as a starter and both Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns should see a nice uptick in usage. Jeff Teague should also spend more time running the offense sans Jimmy. Butler will be an elite asset wherever he winds up, but he does have a history of having trouble staying on the court.
