They tried to push whatever that kids movie was on us and they tried to make way for other movies... the thing is they didn't expect it to do what it did. Feb is usually the dead month where people sneak in movies and make a killing. But it was killing all the guaranteed profits of others. there was an actual article in here from hollywood people complaining about black panther's success cause it was killing the other movies people hoped would do well and when faced with seeing some garbage or black panther people chose to see black panther again.

Marketing budget for Infinity War was $150M. Can't pin it down but Panther's marketing budget was supposedly around $140M.

A couple of others:

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - $80M

Ready Player One - $150M

It did thwart it when it was unnecessary
It's probably more in line with they mishandled a cultural phenomenon by treating it like it was their other movies when it wasn't and had they adapted to it's success could have seen it reach heights unseen in a long time

Those prequels were all Top 5/10 all time grossing movies at the end of their runs

Disney gave BP the same treatment it gaves all its 1st movie characters....Y'all looking for shit that just aint there. BP had Black leads but it still made White people money and they aren't going to fuck up their money...seems like y'all are forgetting that.

The Marvel guys said they didnt expect Black Panther to do as good as it did. They didnt expect it to do Avenger numbers. Thats my only guess is why it was handled like that. BP was alot deeper than expected. After the numbers start jumping, it was really too late for marvel to do anything.

Understand Marvel did not think Black Panther with a all black cast would be doing Avengers Numbers and make almost 1.4 Billion. Im pretty sure they thought they would break even or do $500-$600 Million Worldwide the most. Having a all black cast with a $200-$220 Million Dollar Budget was new and never done before.

You can compare Black Panther with Star Wars, Star Wars is a proven Billion Dollar Franchise. Black Panther was new and it just took off by suprise.
