Note 8 problems-Samsung playing Dumb

My girl and I have Samsung phones. She has the Note 8 and I have the S9+. Like clock work, both phones are acting up at the same damn time. My main concern is with the Note 8. She sat the phone in the cup holder next to her water bottle on the way home from work. A bit of water splashed over and pooled in the bottom of the cup holder where the device was sitting. The phone is now dead (except it vibrates every 5 seconds when you try to turn it on). The phones are still under warranty and I do have Insurance on them through sprint($250 deductible) I told Sprint that I wasn't trying to use my insurance on a phone that advertises water resistance up to 5 feet for 30 min and is still under warranty.
Long story short. Sent the phone in to Samsung, they kept it for a week and sent it back saying:

We regret the were unable to complete the repair of your Samsung product. After performing a thorough examination of your device, it has found to be un-repairable, due to liquid damage.

If you have further questions or need additional support please do not hesitate to reach out to us at 1-800-SAMSUNG with your service ticket number XXXXXXX.

Just got off the phone with them and they said warranty covers everything but physical damage and water damage. :dunno::dunno:
Please someone let me know what I need to do at this point. I have a $1,000 paper weight.

Oh and I was going to send my S9+ in because the bitch wont stay on unless its charging or being used. Went through all the trouble shooting with it too..no luck.

Liquid damage even with waterproof phones voids all warranties. Your only choice at this point is insurance

Apple stores are a huge advantage. Dealing with Android OEM's when shit goes wrong is a crap shoot

How is this possible? Excuse my ignorance..
It's been that way since forever. Warranty has never covered, afaik, water damage. Warranty means you get a new phone without paying anything. I guess to them, water damage is something that is human error, so why would they give you a new phone and take a hit, for something you could have avoided. Warranty covers something that was not caused by you, like an internal malfunction. Insurance covers drops, water damage, etc. So yeah, you gonna have to go ahead and use your insurance to get a replacement.

I hear what you saying about a water proof getting water damage, that doesn't make any sense.

Well, I know now..Just finding this out the hard way is a tough pill to swallow.

Strange. You sure that was water spilling into the phone? And I'm stumped too about a waterproof phone taking liquid damage. :dunno:

My son dropped his old phone in water last year, I put it in a bucket of DampRid for a week, it booted right up.

Try drying it out, slow, but it's worth a try since the phone may be no good anyways.

Btw I would contact Samsung
I did, their response is in the red text and I called right after getting the letter back. They have no other options for me at this time :smh:
Yeah but if I can take it in the ocean a little water in a cup holder shouldn't destroy the phone.
Exactly and it wasn't even in the cup holder 20 seconds after she realized water had splashed over on that side. Hell, If I did take my phone in the ocean and it quit working, I would understand..you got really lucky.

It's really like a Catch 22, see the phone may be water resistant or what have you but that part is not guaranteed to stop water from entering the phone. So as in your situation, it did, there's no way for them to believe if you had the phone in a minor puddle of your cup holder, or Lake Minnetonka. Or if it was 5 mins or 5 hours.

If water gets inside, it's a wrap.
Best to remove the stylus, and I'd personally remove the back, wrap it in a thin napkin (so the pebbles aren't lodged in the phone) and bury it in the DampRid like I said. I've been there before. Known others with the same issue and did rice. But I think DampRid dries it out quicker.

I already broke down and used the insurance with what came out to a $275 deductible. As you know, the phone is a lease and they want it back eventually..

:eek2::lol::roflmao::smh::roflmao3:

Seriously tho....my side hustle is fixing phones ,, I learned fucking around here! Been doing it for a few years now.
Sprint has a VERY limited "repair / service center" they actually do very little repair work. They have a time/repair value ceiling, once your phones repair cost & time exceed that, they tell you its unfixable.

Once they separate/open ya phone they are looking for the very small white indicators, when these get wet from the moisture ya body produces when its in your pants / jeans pocket or from any other outside source those indicators will turn pink & where ever the water inside the phones goes so does the now pink water until it dries.

What I usually do is charge customers a fee to clean the phone & replace the indicators with new ones so they can make an insurance claim that has nothing to do with water damage. Looking @ it they wont be able to tell.. they wont be checking for water damage because they dont SEE any.... so why would there be any????
Seal the phone back with the factory tape that you can order from samsung :dunno:

:money: new phone / you out $250 + $100 for my fee:dunno:
the deductible is slightly less than the price of a note8 LCD replacement. NEVER EVER send your phone to the service provider unless you have no other options. Once they log the issue there is no turning back. Most people dnt read the contracts they sign thus arent aware of what they are paying for & what they actually get. Not covering water damage for waterproof phones is slick:lol::roflmao: some solid tick a niggaah shit:smh:

No they don't. Pay it off and the phone is yours.

Oh you're on Sprint, never had them. I could never get down with that stuff. I usually pay off my phones and unlock them, then sell them on Amazon and make back some of my money for the next phone.
