We've stepped it up in recent years yes, minus some blunders here and there, but idk if CAF is THAT weak.

12 years ago ain't a long time. It's only 3 World Cup cycles. That's still modern history, which makes it relevant but I digress.
As for this current cycle, I can see the teams being on par with each other for sure. We'll see how the CONCACAF teams fair soon.

How is us woman’s soccer one of the best teams in the world but the men’s team is straight ass? Missed this years World Cup missed the olympics a few years ago... where is the disconnect t between the men’s and woman’s game
Elite American female athletes participate in a much more diverse array of sports, especially soccer. The best of the best participate.
Unfortunately our elite male talent does not give a second look to soccer.

Elite male athletes have options in the pros where they can make big bucks so they pursue those sports. Women have no pro leagues where they can make millions (well, a few stars can) so they don't pursue those sports.
It’s just not on the radar of boys growing up. Until we have kids growing up kicking a soccer ball round, the same way they’d be playing catch or dribbling a ball, we will not be elite.
