Remember back in the day it took a minimum of 5-6 months AFTER the film left theaters to even see VHS?

now, well in recent years, you can pretty much guarantee the blu ray is dropping 2 1/2 to 3 months from the theatrical release.

You guys say they are trying to sabotage Black Panther numbers? Remember at the end of the day Disney only cares about Green. Remember Infinity Wars? They have to make room for there next billion dollar franchise. They need as much theatre space for infinity wars. If Infinity wars was not coming out, Im pretty sure they would leave black panther in the theatres. Why would they not want to make money?

Also they have to push the DVD/Bluray while the movie still has hype, We live in a age where people have short attention span, So you have to strike while the iron is hot.

Age of Ultron - $240 million
Jurassic World - $228 million
Avatar - $204 million
Fate of the Furious - $390 million.

China doesn't explain all of it, but the interesting case study there is Furious 7 because it did half the domestic business that BP did, but played huge everywhere else. Although I'm not sure how Vin Diesel plays in the rest of the world.

I didn't say the movie wasn't a success. I'm looking into what slam pointed out that of all the other top all-time international grossers, BP, still hasn't crossed $700 mill internationally.

Of all the movies you listed, none of them dropped off 81.5% in its second weekend in China the way BP did. That's alarming. Spider-Man: Homecoming is the only one that came close to that.

I mean its not a big deal, The Next Movie Black Panther will have to catch to claim the number 2 spot is Avatar, and there is no way it will catch up to Avatar which is $760 Million Dollars.

That means it will have to make about $94 Million Dollars difference if it wants to catch Avatar and its not going to make that 2 weeks,They are gearing up for Infinity wars which is in 16 Days.

This used to be standard operating procedure. They even used to have a name for it when the DVD business was booming in the early 2000's. They've gotten a little bit better about that of late, though. Coogler said he was happy with the final cut, and I don't think any other Marvel movies have had one of these extended edition releases, so we should be good.

The blu-ray release is usually locked into the schedule before a film is even dropped in theaters. You look right now, it's anticipated Infinity War to drop on blu-ray in August. At least they seem to be backing Black Panther with a real ad campaign vs. just having it show up on stores.

Just look for the 4K... I’ve seen it worded different “4K Blu-Ray”, “Blu-Ray 4K”it might even say UHD or HDR... It’s pretty much all the same when it comes to movies. Just make sure the case says 4k.

On one of those PSN updates a while back they added the feature to the PS4 that when enabled allowes your console to upscale or detect 4K signals. Haven’t actually tried to play a 4K disc yet though.

I’d be interested if anyone knows because when I was getting my 4K setup I was thinking of getting a pro console for that purpose until I read that only the XBox One has a drive that plays 4K movies so I left it alone and just got a 4K player instead.

Also another thing I just got hipped to. Make sure the movie you’re buying on 4K was actually mastered in 4K or you’re getting jipped. Justice League for example was mastered in 2K and upscaled for the 4K release. They’re basically selling a blu-ray at 4K prices.
