$$ FINAL Black Panther Box Office NUMBERS ....$700 Mill Domestic $1.346 Bill Worlwide

i have yet to go to collierville. i MIGHT check them out. malco has me very disappointed.
like i said i hate them.. but it's all we got for now LOL

they have sign up on 64 that's been there for 7 years taking about new state of the art theater coming and it's still just a damn field

i don't see what's wrong with don cheadle

and as for Tennessee the Regal in Opry mills is the only 15/70 mm, 3D IMAX in Tennessee.........i literally have driven up there just to watch a movie at that theater.

i usually drive there for big releases like this. its become just what we do.

Edit: i found the exact dimensions
"The Paradiso IMAX has a screen that is 65.9 feet wide by 36.2 feet high. The theater has 316 seats."

so it is slightly smaller than the standard

its more than slightly smaller. it's like less than half size. my girl was impressed with theater format IMAX and i told her it wasn't real IMAX. she told me i was hating. i took her to a real IMAX and she decided she would prefer a real IMAX from now on. lol

in summary, you are paying IMAX prices and not getting an IMAX experience. and i am just pointing out screen size. what about the speaker set up??? even more of a difference but the visual is easier to point out.

in michigan we had real IMAX screens.

and i don't like 3D. the tech isn't there yet.

‘Black Panther’ Breaks More Records: $112M Second Weekend Is Second-Best Ever As Marvel Movie Crosses $400M

UPDATED, Monday AM:
Early morning estimates show Disney/Marvel’s Black Panther now making $112 million for the weekend, a 45% dip from its Week 1, which is an amazing second-weekend hold for a four-quad event film of this size. Disney will report its official figure later this morning.

All records still stand: Second-best second domestic weekend ever (after Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ $149.2M); record second-weekend haul for a Marvel movie (beating The Avengers’ $103M); and second-fastest to $400M in 10 days, along with Jurassic World behind Force Awakens (eight days). But also, Black Panther has the smallest second-weekend decline ever for an MCU title, beating the sophomore-session holds of Thor (-47%), Iron Man (-48%) and Avengers (-50%) and Doctor Strange (-50%).

Memphis leads nation in 'Black Panther' box office spike

Memphis played a big part of the record opening set by "Black Panther" last weekend.

Bloomberg reported that opening weekend ticket sales in Memphis were 81 percent higher than the average opening weekend that movies experience here; with that figure, the city placed No. 1 in the country for moviegoer enthusiasm for "Black Panther."

Atlanta ranked No. 2 for percent increase in attendance versus the average, with ticket sales that were 56 percent higher than usual, followed by New Orleans, where ticket sales were 45 percent higher.

Jeff Kaufman, senior vice president of film at Memphis-based Malco Theatres Inc., said he was unsure how Bloomberg came up with their figures and so couldn't verify them.

Bloomberg cited "Black Panther" distributor Walt Disney Co. as the source of its data.

But, Kaufman confirmed that the number of screens the movie played on across the cinema chain was more than Malco had ever offered for any other film, including "Star Wars."

"There was a lot of interest nationally," Kaufman said. "There was a lot of interest locally."

Malco made "Black Panther" tickets available for pre-purchase more than a week before the movie came out, which Kaufman said the company does for tentpole films such as "Jurassic World" and "Star Wars."

Saw it Sunday of the opening weekend at the malco on Goodman road in southhaven. The 920 and 940 shows were sold out so caught the 10 show. Tried to see it a second time this past Saturday at studio on the square and the 730 was sold out. Ended up seeing it a second time on Goodman road again and got there for 620 show and it was sold out. Had to catch the next showing. Memphis is making it money

Normally put Surprise movies in the normal box thread.....

Operation Red Sea... A flick out of China opened on Feb 18 and has already earned 333 million. This movie explains why Black Panther's release date was pushed back in China.
That was probably a Smart Move. Chinese Box Office is on fucking fire right now... 782 Million just in a Week. :money:

China box office: 'Detective Chinatown 2', 'Operation Red Sea' power record-breaking week

Following an auspicious start to the new year, the Chinese box office continued to explode in the week of Feb 19-25 with $782m, turning it into the highest grossing week ever in China.

As of yesterday (Feb 25), February’s monthly box office has reached a historic RMB9b ($1.5bn), setting another world record for this Chinese New Year.

The festive titles played out an intense battle, shifting all of their positions. Detective Chinatown 2 moved up to the top, only marginally ahead of Operation Red Sea, while former champion Monster Hunt 2 was relegated to the third and Boonie Bears: The Big Shrink climbed ahead of The Monkey King 3: Kingdom Of Women.

Action comedy Detective Chinatown 2 became a runaway success with $276m. Standing at $440.6m after 10 days, it has propelled itself to the fourth highest grossing film ever in China, surpassing the first Monster Hunt and Furious 7. It has more than tripled the final gross of its 2015 predecessor which is also directed by Chen Sicheng and starring Wang Baoqiang and Liu Haoran.

It was a narrow victory over Operation Red Sea which trailed right behind on $275.1m. Like Dante Lam’s last film Operation Mekong, it has proved to be a dark horse. The military drama which has no name cast opened in fourth to a modest $76.6m, compared to Monster Hunt 2’s record breaking $198.2m. But its 10-day total of $352.4m has already overtaken that of Monster Hunt 2. Given that it has also moved past Detective Chinatown 2 for the No.1 spot since Thursday, it has the potential to become the final Chinese New Year champion.

Despite a massive opening weekend, Monster Hunt 2 fell to the third in the second week, taking $136.8m for $336.8m after 10 days. It has surged past Transformers 4 to become the ninth highest grossing film ever, one place behind Operation Red Sea. But Shrek The Third co-director Raman Hui’s live action/CG hybrid, with Tony Leung Chiu-Wai added to the cast, has yet to exceed its predecessor which is still the fifth highest grossing film ever.

Family animation Boonie Bears: The Big Shrink maintained well and climbed to fourth place with $46.4m for $88.9m after 10 days, representing a new record for the five-film franchise.

The Monkey King 3: Kingdom Of Women has lost much of its traction and dropped to fifth. After adding $28.4m for a 10-day total of $113.3m, Soi Cheang’s fantasy romance with Aaron Kwok, Feng Shaofeng and Zhao Liying will probably fall short of the final gross of its two predecessors.

The Faces Of My Gene, the directorial debut of comedian Guo Degang, added $13m for $21.3m after 10 days.

This week will see the release of Girls 2, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, All The Money In The World and Peter Rabbit, all on March 2.

Side note... As soon as you come across a decent copy of that Operation Red Sea, I'm going to need that lank dropped immediately..
