Star Wars The Last Jedi (SPOILER Discussion thread)

Oh and best believe luke wasn't talking about that hole in the wall when he said what's that's about

He saw ren and Rey talking

Ren saw luke and said his name

She turned around

Omg

Y'all not even peeping that Rey did a hologram like luke did at the end

Her very first lesson wit luke was that Jedi mind trick

I can go on a edge and say luke copied what she did and was amazed and that's why he was shocked And left

Rey wasn't just training

She was polishing her skills

This is the best review I've found that echoes my thought of this "film" 100%.

On Rey:

"Even Jesus trained and it doesn't matter if he existed or not. The writers of the story were smart enough to make him go to the mountains for 40 days and nights. " - 10Players :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Exactly Fam... I just didn’t want to get into that point... because it really doesn’t make a difference since he is a ghost and can do what ever...

But on the real I quit.. I think people are just trolling now.

I’ve only heard maybe 2 legit complaints...

1. Leia’s sudden mastery of the force
2. Why did Luke and leia’s Clothes appear be from a 2005 Gap commercial.

Everything else is just people complaining to complain

And Like you... I’ll happily admit that the movie has its flaws... just like all of the Star Wars movies.

It’s a little to long, suffered from too many false endings, slightly dragged when they went to the casino planet, had some writing issues and didn’t have a true climax.... but the good in here far outweighs the bad.

Kats are up in here acting like this thing was worse then the phantom Menace

Ok, can u at least answer to why Rey was crazy ill using the lightsaber with only 1 week of actual training?

She basically rivaled/bettered Kylo Ren and he's been training since he was a kid (force abilities & lightsaber skillz).

Lebron didn’t have to be cut to be better than Jordan. Maybe she’s the truth.

Are you talking about The Force Awakens or in The Last Jedi?

Ok Luke vs Vader... from Empire.

I mean even FINN tagged Kylo in The Force Awakens and dude had ZERO lightsaber training.

Finn was acting like a scary coon. Bad acting mother fucker. He was always bug eyed and running and sweating. Who did he fuck to get into Hollywood?

.

Thats not the case with me. If they can get the detail right to remember those small ass dice from the falcon or the blaster burn on Luke's robotic hand they should be able to use the force correctly.

Movie had MULTIPLE instances where established ways to use the force were just thrown out.

You can't just find someone randomly in the force if you have never encountered them.
Hypothetical: Rey using the force to full power is an 8 out of 10.
Rey just sitting down, not exerting herself is like a 3-4 out of 10.

If someone is going full tilt, it would be easy for someone like Snoke or Luke to find them.
Rey isn't just walking around the island at full force power and shit.

If you all are willing to say that snoke can use the force and make the connection between Kylo and Rey, then he would have been able to track Rey to the damn island in the first place when she was training or being taught by Luke.

Not saying it isn't splitting hairs to a degree, but that's what happens in these movies with fans of the franchise, the details matter.
Not saying it ruins the movie either.... but it takes the shine off and distracts a bit.
well you are off a bit...
story established in movies is that Snoke was able to find and contact Ben while he was still a pupil of Luke's...
thats enough - but go deeper -
Kylo was in contact with and wounded by Rey
Kylo has been hangin around Snoke since being injured
Someone sufficiently powerful in the force would be able to reach into Kylo's mind and use it to find Rey -a la RoJ
Vader found out about and was able to see Leia through Luke
vs Snoke was only able see and locate Luke when he was reading Rey's memories - ("I did not expect Skywalker to be so wise..")

Canon wise:
-the emperor knew who Luke was before Vader did
-its the reason Yoda chose to hide on Dagobah- the planet masked his presence

As for tracking the location...
Luke cut himself off from the force- canon wise that action creates consequences or side effects.
This is based on the story of a jedi in the Old Republic... if done violently enough it creates a void in the force
around the weilder -
this might explain why Kylo couldn't see where Rey was while they were first talking but could see her surroundings when she closed the door of the Falcon later - its why Snoke only found Luke later while reading Reys memories

Some of that is not true

.

Vader found out about and was able to see Leia through Luke Nope, he felt Luke's feelings for her, confirming her existence that's all

in this canon - no one is ill with a lightsaber anymore ...
the last characters that had real lightsaber training - Vader and the Emperor - are dead

Luke never got real saber training from Yoda, so Kylo never learned either.
Yoda had a very limited amount of time and focused training on connecting with the force

Some of that is not true
Vader didn't know... earlier cuts of the movie are vague about how the Emperor found out, but the new canon is that the Emperor told Vader not the other way around

this entire vid shows how many times Lucas changed it - I have it cued to the latest canon

no confirmation - Vader had no clue that he even had a daughter until RoJ

Yoda's canon reasons for hiding on Dagobah are well documented

And yes the story of the Exile and Revan were made canon in Star Wars Rebels

I think they explained it in force awakens a little bit. That kylo didn't really have no one to challenge him. Because he was only force user and the only one at the time that used a lightsaber. Even with that being said. That doesn't explain the force sensitive kids he basically kidnapped. Because he could have trained with them. This movie is a shit show. The more I think about it, the more im like how did this get approved.

Ok, so luke got no lightsaber training from Yoda, but somehow defeated Vader, even though luke specifically went to the planet Yoda was on for Jedi training (which most fans would assume included lightsaber training).

So Jedi training in the original movies doesn't include the lightsaber?

And Kylo wasn't taught any lightsaber skills but used a lightsaber to defend himself when luke wanted to kill him? Why give Kylo Ren a lightsaber while training him to be a Jedi if he wasn't going to be taught how to use it? He has it for his health?

Yall just tryna make last Jedi make sense now. Lol. That movie had more holes than Swiss cheese.

Shit both. In TFA she beats Kylo Ren after picking up a lightsaber for the 1st time.

Finn tagged Kylo and promptly got KTFO. Lol.

Shit don't make any kind of sense. I see why they brought JJ Abrams back for episode 9. They saw b' product in LJ. But LJ will still do crazy numbers just because tho.

Still wasn't a good movie by star wars standards.

So he gets bested in his 1st challenge by someone who's never picked up a lightsaber in her life?

C'mon now...these writers be reaching.

:lol:Yeah there is no explaining that shit. She basically started using the force for 2 to 3 days and became a skilled sword fighter at the same time:roflmao2:

Movie was ok.......Disney tries to be political too much with the whole weapons dealer stuff....

The racism of Finn not being able to be romantic with Rey and them adding some random Asian (ie non-white) broad to buffer the love interest is typical racist hollywood....

The feminist angle was a bit much too.......them having to sneak in their toys and merchandise with those little birds and dogs and what not was meh I understand but still it was meh

assumptions are bad
Star Wars has always stressed the force is a necessity and much more powerful than any weapon or combat skills-
lightsaber skills were essential in the past - but not after Palpatine's galactic purge

Luke didn't defeat Vader... Vader was encouraging Luke to give in to his rage to embrace the darkside.
Vader could have killed Luke anytime he wanted...

In Star Wars history repeats itself
avd2.jpg

Dooku was much better with a saber than Anakin - but his job was to incite rage not kill him

Luke Kylo Rey etc would be lunch in the prequels.

Luke n Kylo's Saber training did not extend beyond the basics - just compare the prequel fights and the best fights in Clone Wars to the original trilogy and the last 2 movies

Kylo really defended himself from Luke by using the force... a lightsaber in the hands of force wielder is an excellent shield even if they aren't trained in how to efficiently use it

I said it here before this movie was truly written based on SW canon -not the previous movies.

I don't think that is a good choice and I don't know why they did this.

If you are casual fan and think Last Jedi isn't based on anything and has holes on how the force works...
I understand why you feel that way - and this movie will not make sense to you unless you are willing to go deeper into Star Wars than you were previously inclined to .

This was another thing I was wondering while watching the movie. Somebody got nervous about a possible interracial relationship(black and white). But Hollywood accepts directors and other powerful people. Sexually assaulting and harassing women and kids.
