NBA 2K18

The more I read, the worse it is. I think these are refundable offenses.

Has anyone played the new MyGM yet? This shit has my jaw on the floor.

I'm at a loss for words. I have GM's offering me trades, after the deadline, offering to give me players that are already on my team, my owner sold the team and the new owner hired his son as my assistant GM and he makes trades just willy nilly, I fire him he just laughs at me, the new owner wants to move the Knicks to Seattle, assistant GM trades for Marreese Speights then Marreese Speights had a conversation with me saying he was extremely upset that I would trade for Marreese Speights because he's afraid he'll be taking some of his minutes, and now the original owner wants to buy the team back. I'm not even done with the regular season yet. I've also had several different conversations about avocado toast and Ethiopian coffee. I don't know what the fuck to say.

I've been simulating some My League seasons to get a test for the rookies and what not using an expansion team.

1) Usually, the top 1-2 guys in the auto-generated draft are way too good (draft class quality at 50). Rookies shouldn't be coming into the league at 94 overall, period. I hate editing the draft classes because it makes me feel like I've cheated the system a bit but for the time being, I may have to edit the A/A+ overall guys to around 80-85. I also feel like lowering the draft class quality will make the late 1st round and the 2nd round players more useless than they already are.

2) What's is up with a lot of the rookies being 23 years old?!
bil.gif

3) Do players even care where they sign? Looking at you Durant. I get that anything can happen but Durant shouldn't be signing with the worst team in the league, IMHO.

4) I created my Sonics expansion team, took me a few hours. Simmed my first season and was about to play a game and my alternate jersey had Vancouver on it (if you guys have seen that Vancouver huskies team). No idea how that happened.....

5) Duplicate rookies in drafts (mainly international players).

6) Golden State didn't make the playoffs in the 2019 season Sure, they didn't have Durant but come on. There were no injuries either. The other expansion team I put in, Louisville Liberty, made the NBA championship. Keep in mind, their best players are JJ Riddick and Jeremy Lin. The simulating in this game is baffling.

Yeah, that's game-breaking level of bugs.... but I gotta check to see if ALOT more folks are having these same exact types of errors.:dunno:

Mainly because there are TONS of 'VC Glitching' videos on YouTube already... and lots of these gamers who are complaining about the most RANDOM types of bugs... are the very same gamers who are GLITCHING THE HELL OUTTA THE GAME... to avoid paying for VC.

Now, I dunno if this particular person who wrote this.... was glitching, or not. :dunno: I have no idea.

All I'm just saying is that, until many, many more gamers can verify having the very same problem.... some of these stories should be 'taken with a grain of salt'... because these crazy side-effects are happening to certain gamers who decided to cheat the system... then got irate when the code starts malfunctioning in unexpected (and untested) ways.

Just saying.

Look at the forums, like that first link. There's a lot.

Any 2K veteran should know that 2K is always ass out the box. It normally takes at least 2 patches before the game is A1. Other than the VC greed I don't have any complaints. I've been playing domination and I won all but one of my online matches. The controls feel good. The AI is a bit more difficult in domination than passed titles. Other than not having a layup meter I can't really shit on 2K right now.
Yes thank you for talking about the gameplay. I don't give 2 shits about VC or story mode. All I care about is gameplay. I don't even know how to use dat bullshit. I just want quality gameplay. Can we talk about that please!!!?

man I’m hoping this shit will eventually grow on me like 2k13/2k16 did smh

Yes gameplay is a lot better they cleaned up that run down block from the back with random players. They call foul on block attempts from the back now . They also fixed the run to basket pass that always went through the defense. I that they tweak the offball defense like where you can't sit in the paint and play defense if you do the cpu will roll back on the player you should guard and give open shots. Basically the head to head cheeses are gone. I only play head to head so i couldn't tell you about myPlayer or my gm

^^^ Nice Drop.

Chris Smooth hit the nail on the head.
This year... the whole MyCareer story is weak as hell. :smh:

Ssshhheeeiiittt... with all the different b-ball movies that have ever come out... 2K scriptwriters should have more than enough 'material' to create a compelling story. Year after year.
  • He Got Game
  • Love & Basketball
  • Finding Forrester
  • White Men Can’t Jump
  • Hoosiers
  • Teen Wolf
  • Blue Chips
  • Semi-Pro
  • Sunset Park
  • Glory Road
  • Coach Caarter
  • Space Jam
  • Above the Rim
  • Hoop Dreams
  • The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh

It’s not Rocket Science. :dunno:

And 2K doesn’t even have to blatantly ‘rip-off’ characters, or copy whole scripts. (Not word for word. :smh: Literally)

1 - Just simply use the BASIC PREMISE of some of these movies to craft a compelling story arc for MyCareer.
2 - Pick out a few notable characters & involve them in the story, somehow.
3 - Incorporate some 2K 'gameplay mechanics' that are already in the game.
4 - Adjust & Tweak the story accordingly.... until it is 'cohesive'.
5 - Add a few plot twists & 'curveballs'... to spice it up.

Done Deal.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here’s the premise of 3 different storylines I just created for a MyCareer... just based off some of these movies I mentioned above…

THE “WHITE MEN CAN’T JUMP” TYPE OF STORYLINE FOR MyCAREER:

2ccpbx0.jpg

This storyline starts off on the Streetball side of town.
You meet a guy on the Playgrounds who has a dream of being in the NBA someday, just like you do.

He hustles you out of some VC early on... but eventually you get your revenge... and win your money back... before deciding to team-up a make a run at the 5-man Streetball Tournament Title. (Sponsored by Nike, or Jordan, or Under Armour or whoever)

You both get recognized by some NBA scouts & get offered 'workouts' with different NBA teams.

In the cutscenes, (which mostly happen 'off the court') you make choices to help him decide whether he wants to play for a good-hearted basketball coach who helps out the community… or a local thug who can make millions for him, and get him signed with major sponsors deals & shoe contracts… but could also get him into trouble if he’s not careful.

One path will make both you and him Legends of the game… who help out your communities… and the other path will surely get HIM into trouble with some ‘semi-goofy loansharks’ who tend to show up at his streetball games & harass him for money, or make him do silly tasks to ‘work off his debts’. Day after day.

Sometimes you both might have to “run thru the neighborhood”, or duck into various stores to avoid being cornered by the goofballs who might make you miss important meetings & sabotage offers from sponsors… or sometimes you might have to choose between using some of your own VC to pay off his debts & keep him safe. If you decide to use your own VC, it increases different aspects of your ‘personality’ badges which (in turn) help you on the court. (Like: Enforcer, Laid Back, Hardened, Spark Plug, Wildcard, Low Ego, Keep it Real, Expressive, Unpredictable, etc)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE “HE GOT GAME” TYPE OF STORYLINE FOR MyCAREER:

kor2h.jpg

In addition to all the stuff you will accomplish as an NBA player, you are also trying to help your Deadbeat Dad become a better person & rebuild the relationship between him, your brother, your sister & yourself.

Your siblings have different issues with him than you do.... which has affected their outlook on life in different ways.
Now is your time to help bring the whole family closer.

The RPG element involves your ‘responses’ to the situation which happens during the cutscenes. Just like when you get interviewed after a game… you can select different ‘responses’ that are associated with a particular ‘personality badge’. For example, Your Sister wants to attend you next home game with your Dad… but your Dad wants to play poker with his buddies instead, and watch the game on the big screen at home. You know your Sister will take it very hard if your Dad flakes out on her, like he has done so often in the past… so you talk to your Dad, and you are given 2-4 different choices.. so you can select an Aggressive Response, or a Laid Back Response, or an Unpredictable Response, or a Keep It Real Response. or a Friendly Response, etc.

As you make choices which help repair the ‘family bonds’ that bring you all closer… it increases different aspects of your ‘personality’ badges which (in turn) help you on the court. (Like: Enforcer, Laid Back, Hardened, Spark Plug, Wildcard, Low Ego, Keep It Real, Expressive, Pat My Back, Unpredictable, Legendary Work Ethic, etc)

These responses that you can choose are always different… and RANDOM… and sometimes you don’t always have to side with your siblings, if you are trying to build up a certain ‘personality’ badge that will be useful in the long run… or in a different situation. Therefore, your siblings might get upset with you today, but you might have their back later on… on a major issue. And everything still works out, in the long run.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE “SEMI-PRO” TYPE OF STORYLINE FOR MyCAREER:

2m4q7mo.jpg

Make the MyCareer story more of a COMEDY which centers around a struggling College Basketball team which has 2 TOP NBA Prospects (i.e. the 2 top prospects are YOU and a rival teammate of yours, who is difficult to get along with on the court).

Sure, you guys are on the same team… but you are more like hilarious FRENEMIES. :D lol

So this Rivalry will surely continue into the Pros when you each get drafted by NBA Rivals that ALSO have a rabid fan base. (like The Cavs & The Warriors  for example)

As you progress your MyPlayer, you are also trying to settle your differences on the NBA courts... and out in the Parks... and in the Pro-Am leagues. Its’ friendly competition. But not too friendly.

And the BEST PART is… you both have an ENTOURAGE (i.e. a mix of males and females) that will help you pull off some zany stunts, capers & pranks behind the scenes… (while you are on the courts, playing NBA games)… without getting you in trouble with the League.

This cast of buddies should be filled with surprises & jokes. And their antics could get you noticed by Sponsors of all sizes, from the mom & pop shops… to the Big Boys, like Gatorade, Nike & Brand Jordan, etc.

But be careful.

Because sometimes your Entourage can get you noticed by 'hard to get' Sponsors… and sometimes they can get you in trouble with the Sponsors. Or even dropped. (Depending on your level of involvement with the antics & your performance on the court)

Therefore, sometimes you might have to decide to drop someone from your Entourage. Or replace them. Or flat-out TRADE THEM to your Frenemy’s Entourage :D for someone that HE wants to get rid of too, who would probably work out better in YOUR camp, than HIS.

Be advised… sometimes you are gonna take some serious L’s in the ‘War of Words’.
And sometimes you are gonna win some ‘flawlessly victories’, amidst all the shenanigans.

(And maybe someone will have to wrestle a bear .. but it's too early to tell just yet who it might be. :dunno:)

All of which ultimately affect your ‘fan base’ at the end of the day. (For Better or Worse)

But over time, despite all the wins, losses, pranks & random ‘shots fired’…. you will finally realize that ALL of you…. push each other towards GREATNESS.

Again, as you interact with your Frenemy and his sidekicks.. which inevitably happens during the cutscenes… or during post-game interviews.. or on social media… your ‘responses’ & ‘taunts’ will help build up different ‘personality’ badges.

Who knows? Perhaps one day, after you both are finished playing in the NBA, the jabs you all keep taking back-n-forth at each other are actually paving the way to create a SMASH ‘tv sitcom’… or a popular sports show, like ‘First Take’.

The new way to get a quick 800-1000 VC:

You can only do it once every 20 or so minutes. Probably best to do it between games.

Start a new MyLeague save.

Put the difficulty on Hall of Fame, and put the quarters on 11 minutes.

Go to your first game, hit Simcast (the third option) quickly two times. The object is to make the clock have more than 11 minutes in the first quarter, ex. 11:30, 11:45.

As soon as the game loads, quit and sim to the end, then quit again.

You should get paid 800-1000 VC.

Quit MyLeague.

After 20 minutes, delete the save you just made, and create a new MyLeague save with a different team, and do the same settings.

Mobile version :puke: :smh: . Wait like im doing for this new xbox in November .

I've never been a big gamer. But out of boredom, I downloaded the mobile version on a whim and been hooked since. The console version is a bit 2 much for me, I need sumthn I can play on the go

This 2017 sims basketball game.

2K workers getting their Puffy on all in the videos etc.

Can we get a real basektball game next year please?

Who's playing My Team? What cards are y'all using. I've been using the silver Thon Maker card since my first pack opening. Shoots 3's and runs the floor.

Do yall actually play those story modes?
I kinda dropped into Fifa's story mode which seems to work for me because it helps me understand how big football is in the UK

What u guys think about the shooting with user timing?idk I feel something is off I’m missing wide open shots
First of all… You are not alone. :smh:

Second of all… There is a simple reason you are not hitting wide open shots....

Because the Gameplay Director (Mike Wang) has NERFED the shooting.... in order to prepare gamers for the upcoming “E-League Tournament” that 2K will soon implement later this season.

The E-League is a big Tournament this year for NBA 2K Gamers that will involve HUGE cash prizes & tickets to the NBA Playoffs & Finals.... and all kinds of promotion & corporate sponsors.

But why would the E-League affect my wide-open jump shots??? :dunno:

Because on the OS Sports website... Mike Wang admitted that he has ‘attuned’ the shooting percentages so that NOT every (perfect release) ‘green meter’ shot will go in. (But what he refuses to admit to everyone is that he purposefully 'attuned' the shooting so that the vast majority of ‘all-white meter’ shots will not go in AT ALL. Regardless if they are contested, or not.)

But why would Mike Wang not admit that??? :dunno:

For 2 reasons. (and the second reason is MUCH more important than the first.)

REASON #1 - You see… 2K wants their upcoming E-League Tournament to be closer to ‘real-life’ NBA shooting percentages… REGARDLESS of ‘how well’ the Gamers can ‘cheese’ any flawed 2K jumpshot mechanics.

In earlier versions of NBA 2K… gamers could get ‘so good’ at timing their releases… that they would shoot ASTRONOMICAL percentages from beyond the arc. Even on HOF mode.

So Mike Wang said to himself: “Im gonna NERF this summabitch so that cheesy gamers won’t be shooting such ridiculously high percentages from deep range during our E-League Tournament.... UNLESS.... their 'stick skills' are so UNGODLY GOOD that it can override my settings.” :dunno:
  • But the whole problem is…. that’s EXACTLY WHY folks select ‘User Timing’ shots instead of ‘Real %’ shots in the first place.
  • Because they DO NOT want to be ’nerfed’ by the CPU..... especially when they know how to shoot the rock.
  • Plus... not everybody wants to participate in the E-League, either. :hmm:
The Bottom line is…. Mike Wang is ARTIFICIALLY FORCING you to miss wide open shots that really SHOULD go in…. and have gone in, in the past.... based on your 'User Timing' Skills.

It's not your stick skills :smh:.... it's because the Devs who have tweaked the GAME SETTINGS (behind the scenes) to OVERRIDE your stick skills.

So as a result….. ‘All-white meter’ shots go in far less times than ‘slightly late’ or ‘slightly early’ shots.

Which means that you either have to be ABSOLUTELY PERFECT…. or just a 'little bit' BAD, in order to make wide open shots.
You cannot be in the middle. :smh: You cannot be 'almost perfect'. :smh: Because that's the WORST place to be.

Because if you are ‘almost perfect’ and take wide open shots with like 97%, or 98%, or 99% accuracy on the meter when you release the ball…. you will probably SUFFER the most.

Which is completely bass-ackwards, imo.

REASON #2 -Basically 2K has gotten extremely GREEDY about milking gamers to buy VC. :hmm:

Now IF (keyword; IF) you want to start hitting wide open ‘all-white meter’ jumpers….. you need to go to the Newsstand right next to the the Pro-Am Open Run Gym…. and BUY attribute upgrades for ‘shooting’ and/or ‘dunks & layups’.

Yes, you read that right.

2K is now ‘selling’ makeable jumpshots, this year. :hmm:

Either you can reach an ungodly level of skill on the sticks... and play with a consistent ‘perfect release’ timing…. or you can BUY yourself some buckets if you are are in the ‘almost perfect’ category… but not quite 'consistently perfect' yet. :o

Those 'skill boosts' make a world of difference.

You are GUARANTEED to see your 'scoring average' jump at least 10-20 points per game... because you will start hitting the vast majority of those WIDE OPEN (all white) jumpers.... that are not contested at all.

Instead of NERFING the shooting..... what Mike Wang SHOULD HAVE DONE.... is just insist that anyone who wants to play in the upcoming E-League Tournament MUST use 'Real %' settings when playing... .instead of 'User Controls'. Problem solved.

Just my opinion.

I'm so disappointed in this game. I have about 10 posts on the Operation Sports forum yelling at the developers. I only bought the game for MyGM and the contracts make the game non-functional. Patch #5 came last night and they're fixing shoes and shit while ignoring the fact that bird rights don't work correctly and free agency generally is a clusterfuck with players insisting on $25 million for all 18 days, refusing to negotiate further if you dare offer them $16 million and then they, all-star level players and key role players, sign for the minimum at the end because their demands exceeded everybody's cap room.

It's like 2k is hell bent on making the game worse.

The MyCareer cheese is even worse. I know sometimes they make the big games close on purpose, they've always done that. But they made my team so fucking stupid for the cheese.

I'm playing against OKC, up by 20 by the end of the 3rd quarter. 4th quarter comes...my team starts leaving Westbrook wide the fuck open for no reason, taking stupid shots, missing rebounds and loose balls, you name it. My green shots ain't green no more. OKC bums start defending like Kawhi Leonard. I can't even get to the basket with a pick and I'm secondary slasher. Meanwhile, OKC just starts raining 3s. They fouled me out and OKC scored 43 pts.

It's like you might as well not even play the big games. They gone fuck you over every time.

^^^

The crazy thing is.... over the last few years.... (ever since 2K11)... 2k has really NAILED certain aspects, in my opinion.

But it's like 2K CONSTANTLY takes 3 steps forward in some areas.... while taking 2 steps backward in other areas. Year after year. :smh:

And some of the things 2k 'steps backward' in..... are certain things that worked really well in one of the OLDER VERSIONS of the game.

:hithead:

Think about it....

I bet the NBA 2K gamers here on BGOL (in this very thread ) could 'cherry pick' a few different features & gameplay mechanics that have been introduced every year... since 2010... and we would make a version of the game that would be..... EPIC AS F*CK.

For example....
  • Take (fill in the blank) from 2K11
  • Use (fill in the blank) from 2K12
  • Add (fill in the blank) from 2k13
  • Keep (fill in the blank) from 2k14
  • Get rid of (fill in the blank) from 2k15
  • Adjust (fill in the blank) from 2k16
  • Change (fill in the blank) from 2k17
  • Improve (fill in the blank) from 2k18
Done Deal.

Then all 2k would have to do is just 'repair any bugs' of the version that was hand-crafted by BGOL.

If they would ever just LISTEN to the gamers who give them good feedback.... and fix the bugged shit that NEEDS fixing... and leave the shit that WORKS all alone... This game would be damn near PERFECT, imo.

Man y'all tripping this is the best in the series for head to head. Fuck the fantasy team shit and my gm. I see a lot improvements with gameplay
