@Camille @largebillsonlyplease @dawilleyone I'd like to go back to a point mentioned earlier that Sam is like a damn encyclopedia of Westeros, fables, lineage and myths. After all, Rhaegar (sp) is essentially just the generation before Sam and Jon. Sam grew up as a Lord and was around other Lords so you know he heard some shit. I say that to say, if all of a sudden a recent Stark was recorded as being married in secret and possibly birthing a child then it isn't far fetched for Sam to connect the dots. R+L= a kid. You have all Stark children and 1 bastard (who is damn near the same age as Rob) from a man who wasn't known for doing that sort of thing. Then Jon will surely tell Sam about his experiences with Danny and the Drogon.
Sam will be doing the math and connecting all types of shit like...

Actually I said Bran was an encyclopedia. He can see the past and should be able to tell them how to make weapons if they need help.
Sam has heart though. You always have the nerdy/assumed weak people with a lot of heart, down for the cause, that no one takes seriously because they can't see their strengths. Characters like Neville in Harry Potter who stood up to Voldemort and took out Nagini. Sam has already been invaluable in finding out where the dragon glass was located. We don't know if Bran can see the future, but I think he can. I think he knew that Sam would be present when the message was read and so sending the raven would cause Sam to leave and put him on a different path. To me, this foreshadows him having some sort of pivotal role. (Though all Bran has to do is tell people what they need to know, he can't be everywhere at once. It's like he's moving chess pieces on a board, setting them up to put necessary events in motion.)
