Marvel:INFINITY WAR (discussion thread)

You guys keep talking about Fantastic 4...

What I find funny about that idea is that the team itself is irrelevant. Whats relevant is the characters attached to the group.

Doom, Galactus, Silver Surfer, Namor, Skrulls...

By themselves the group is dull.

Matter of fact they didnt even have a real presence in the Infinity Gauntlet saga.

You can even do Illuminati without Reed Richards.

Um, actually Dormamu was well defined. You could see his face. There's no way a leader of his own dimension would be the size of a human. It would be underwhelming

You seen Ego?

How does a cloud with a face make any sense?

He has a body in the comics. He can have a body in the movies. Its that simple.

The point I think they were going with is that this is GOD. Not a king but an all encompassing GOD. So I'd expect him to be large and overpowering. Him wearing a jump suit with his head on fire wouldn't do it.

^^^^^ Yeah...that strikes fear in the hearts of men I tell ya..

we are talking about a god like being - so yeah he shouldn't be human sized
the visuals for Dormammu should have been in someway more occultish.

Real problem- a battle should have occurred in our dimension or limbo
not essentially a conversation /negotiation on Dormammu's turf -
a dimension where time doesn't exist and Dormammu is omnipotent...
Somehow Strange was able to create -a time loop where time doesn't exist?
and able to accept endless pain and outlast an immortal that doesn't experience time -but if he did whose concept of time passing would experience a millennium the way a day feels like to us.

Some stories just work better if the writer keeps the scale small - IMO Strange should have started small and built up to directly confronting a being like Dormammu - especially since Strange wasn't sorcerer supreme of this dimension yet

Did the cloud scare anyone? Or even impress anyone?

You can give him a body and still make him large and overpowering. GoTG showed us a Celestial destroying a planet with the power gem. THAT was god-like.

But Dormammu isnt this all encompassing GOD you describe him to be. Not in the comics anyway. Did they describe him like that in the movie?

He rules the Dark Dimension. I'd think someone who ruled their own Universe to be massive and encompassing. Permeating the fabric of that world not condensed down to a clown in pajamas. I had no problem with how he was represented in the movie.

Fuck Fantastic 4!!! I want Silver Surfer and Galactus and maybe Doom; if we could get those in these movies, then we are golden:yes::yes:

Yeah, honestly the Fantastic Four are sorta played out. At this point they've failed so much with the property I highly doubt anyone is eager to see them on the big screen. I used to be a major fan in the 8o's and 90's when John Byrne used to draw them (not only was he an amazing artist but he took them to greater heights). Now they are just boring characters and I really don't see how they could be beefed up or made interesting today.

Well damn...

Could we all just have feelings of nostalgia at this point?

I think old heads like me just feel it's sad one of the most important groups on all 9f comics haven't really gotten there just due...

But to diminish their contributions and current worth...

Especially when the Incredibles WAS the FF?

They got a place here and an important one.

The only problem is it needs to be with Marvel.

Like I said earlier

FF is the forefathers

I agree at this point the film property is sh*t but that is Fox fault.

You mean to tell me, you aint gonna see a Spielberg directed Brad bird written Marvel/Disney headed Fantastic Four movie?

With George Clooney playing Mr. Fantastic...

and showing the rise of the illumnati?

Namur and Sue?

The Thing vs. Hulk?

Human Torch and Spidey?

The Baxter Building looking at Avengers tower?

And Valerian-like battle in the Negative Zone?

Franklin Richards????

interesting choice...some lousy actors have played him to date...characters def haven't gotten their just due

He could play the awkward genius, that doesn't realize he is really powerful and handsome...

It would be great cause Clooney got that weird combination of tv star guy next door James Bond everyman funny cool

Which is perfect for reed.

Cause then the switch flips and he becomes the confident cracked mirror version of doom...

Illumnati.

But still remain sympathetic.

With the right sue storm it could work.
Cause u would want to show the transition from oblivious completely self absorbed scientist...
To lover
To husband
To leader
To friend
To Father figure
To jealous
To confident
To redeemer
To God complex

I could see George doing all that.
