Official BGOL Crypto Currency Thread ★★★★★

OK...Dumb question here at the expense of being clowned mercilessly......How do you recall what price you purchased a coin at? I've bought 4 coins at various times...XVG, XRP, DGB, and RDD....I use Bittrex and Bitstamp......These both display the price I paid in BTC but since the price of BTC fluctuates so much, how can I go back and see what a coin was actually worth at the time I bought it????
I log the buys in Blockfolio, I look at the amount in BTC that the trade went through and when you input it into Blockfolio, it converts it all for you.

you can use the chart on coinmarketcap to see what the BTC value was in USD more or less that day...but even then it's still gonna be an approximate value since the shit shifts damn near every sec...it's better than nothing tho

just seems like one of those common sense things I should have known before I started trading....I was so thirsty about trying not to miss out, I was buying the coins before I knew how to understand everything I was doing....Now that I have a little more knowledge I don't know what my break even points are to sell the coins I have if I decide to.

bro, I think everyone in this thread jumped in before they knew what they were doing

Yeah this is the method I had been using...Then I was like there's gotta be an easier fucking way lol

For people buying into ICOs...this is a great article from the founder of Ethereum

http://vitalik.ca/general/2017/06/09/sales.html

So what would a good token sale mechanism look like? One way that we can start off is by looking through the criticisms of existing sale models that we have seen and coming up with a list of desired properties.

Let’s do that. Some natural properties include:

  1. Certainty of valuation - if you participate in a sale, you should have certainty over at least a ceiling on the valuation (or, in other words, a floor on the percentage of all tokens you are getting).
  2. Certainty of participation - if you try to participate in a sale, you should be able to generally count on succeeding.
  3. Capping the amount raised - to avoid being perceived as greedy (or possibly to mitigate risk of regulatory attention), the sale should have a limit on the amount of money it is collecting.
  4. No central banking - the token sale issuer should not be able to end up with an unexpectedly very large percentage of the tokens that would give them control over the market.
  5. Efficiency - the sale should not lead to substantial economic inefficiencies or deadweight losses.
Sounds reasonable?

Well, here’s the not-so-fun part.

  • (1) and (2) cannot be fully satisfied simultaneously.
  • At least without resorting to very clever tricks, (3), (4) and (5) cannot be satisfied simultaneously.
I'm a little confused...his first criterion which I agree w/ is why I didn't jump into mobilego ICO...but he then says 1 and 2 can't be completely pulled off but I thought wagerr did a good job of that...(a) you know exactly how much you were paying for each token and you knew exactly how many tokens were being sold per round and will know how many are sold once the ICO ends...also (b) by limiting the transaction to a specific amount you could purchase allowed for 'certainty of participation' (for the 1st 10 rounds you couldn't purchase more than 100k tokens @ a time)...I saw another ICO end w/ like only 3 ppl buying up a majority of the tokens

I didn't buy into Wagerr, but I do think they ran the ICO well. My main reason was because the launch was so far out but people waited longer when they participated in the Ethereum ICO.

It might but if you study this coin, which I did when my boy sent it to me today, it checks every single box you would look for in a coin.
every single one. it's not even flashy as far as big names with the dev team
but dude presented his coin. he gave regular updates. he ran regular tests. he had alpha's out. improved upon mistakes. it's for future use. i mean like this is the blueprint. he don't have a fancy white paper he don't have a marketing team
but if I had seen this coin at any point before may 24th I would've put bitcoins- PLURAL into this coin he sets dates. he follows through on those dates. like his shit is damn near tangible as it gets as far as what crypto looks like
his ico was CAPPED at 4m for fundraising meaning he wasn't after a money grab and to top it off he and his team only keeping 13m of the total supply of coins and the total supply is 65m if im not mistaken or something like that

like
it is literally the perfect coin and it was right there and we didn't see it.

this is what keeps me up at night.
So whats the perfect coins now bro??

The thing I like about Wagerr ICO is (1) they made it as fair as possible (2) they limited whales early (3) they support our users (4) they chat with them for hours a day (5) they explain everything, their plan, the business and economic models, and the features in detail. They're demonstrating their wallet on Thursday, coins will be issued shortly after the ICO but the platform wont be available until the fall but they can get WGR on the exchanges to trade before then.

None really. All have pro's and cons to them even QRL does. However, that type of presentation is what you're looking for.

Off TOP

If find a coin and it's been out for 3 or 4 years and the market cap is a flat line after the initial buzz all the way until this latest rush close the window.
If a coin is up and down that's better than nothing and now something. by a long shot. At least there is some interest legit interest over a period of time. Sometimes coins have a buzz then they die down for a little bit but then they roll out something new and a little spike then the new thing messes up and it tanks then they fix it and it rides up again.. those are the coins that MIGHT be onto something

I've read about some that where complete free-for-alls that ended in minutes...screams $$$ grab to me

One of them ended in 90 seconds man.. And they order the buys based on the size of the order so the top 5-6 wallets got half the fucking coins...smh.

Yeah. I didn't get in because I had my doubts about the team + technology because they aren't launching soon, but they've run everything really well and that's a great sign.

if that one hits, yall gonna be like "scared money don't make money" lol

I feel ya; so are you just in the mode of holding certain coins right now? or searching for coins to catch that wave? ive been looking and havent found any that are sticking out yet

when the fuck is filecoin ICO? that's another one I got my eye on in addition to SONM and STATUS

I didn't see anything on the ICO calendar for filecoin...SONM (6/15) and STATUTS (6/17) are both this week
What is SONM and STATUTS? and where is FILECOIN AT? lol

Both. All actually. There are pumping opportunities but you have to tell yourself it's a pump and pick a number and get out.
i got it; I just got approved for tier 3 in kraken, only took 3 days, and verified with Bitstamp; so im about to drop serious this week; ill be monitoring everything; im looking for pumps as well as low coins that could burst; you find anything i need to know:giggle:

Bancor is expensive but the highest I've seen is primal base

3BTC for 1PBT. Total supply 1000 tokens. They have a shared workspace business model with a pilot going on in Amsterdam. I believe vitalik is an advisor to the project. Thoughts?

man I'm have to read these things 2-3 more times before I can explain them in layman's term...I can wrap my mind around what STATUS is tryna do a little...I'm have to dl the the android app cuz the iOS one isn't ready yet...a hands on experience should give me a better understanding of what they're tryna to do and how to explain it...but in a nutshell it's a mobile browser that works on and/or w/ ethereum technology...I need to reread to understand why is that important tho...w/ SONM I'm a bit lost...and my interest waned when I read that their roadmap to completion was next aug.

websites?

Just to get an Idea of what's out there this week this guy has picks of the week, XRP is on the list and he mentions STATUS @LSN

not to be cynical but I respect some of the ppl's opinions in here more so than some of these youtube "experts" and "gurus" on bitcointalk

@ least dudes here are candid about what they know or don't know and earlier on we were posting real articles...links to websites etc...I am really disappointed @ the lack of insight offered on some of the forums on bitcointalk a site that is supposed to be dedicated to bitcoins/altcoins...very little facts are posted there and it seems like folks are just hyping up coins w/ an agenda...appreciate the vid drop...sorry man I will still listen to it just a little annoyed w/ myself for not trusting my instincts and running off the hype created by conjecture from these other sites/sources

So is Ripple dead to us or are we just looking to it to be a long term hold??

I'm too far up on ripple to completely abandon it...and to see it drop from $0.46 to $0.19 and make a respectable rebound/hold around $0.28-0.30 makes me confident to hold on to it a little longer...I have used some tho to make a run @ other coins
