Yes, rookie contracts are capped. But it's still a multi-year contract (2 years with two team options). Once again, why not bet on yourself if you believe you are a superstar? Why not shop around and see if you can be a global brand in the world's largest (or second largest) market? He doesn't have to corner anything and China isn't a niche market. Klay Thompson just signed a massive shoe contract with a Chinese company and I have never seen his shoe in a shoe store.

I dont think Nike is offering anything near that. Ben Simmons got 5 years, $20 million base. Incentives might push him to 40 million. Nike is probably offering $4 million a year. A Chinese company would probably at least give him $3 million and maybe a little profit sharing.

As cheap as it is to make quality kicks if Lavar Ball is serious all it takes is a strategic partnership with a Chinese shoe factory and decent marketing. Employ a really good shoe designer and start a groundswell campaign built around not just the shoe, but whole lifestyle surrounding the shoe. Make them exclusive to start (don't even mention the shoe, just have Lonzo wear them in games and build the hype. Once the hypebeasts get a hold, you know you got something. Start at the boutique sneaker shops then expand from there.
