Tiger Woods has played his last tournament as a Nike ambassador.

Woods, who has worn Nike apparel since first signing with the company in 1996, announced via statement on Monday morning on social media that his time with the iconic sports brand had come to an end. He did not, however, share any details on future endorsement plans.

“Over 27 years ago, I was fortunate to start a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world,” Woods said. “The days since have been filled with so many amazing moments and memories, if I started naming them, I could go on forever. Phil Knight’s passion and vision brought this Nike and Nike Golf partnership together and I want to personally thank him, along with the Nike employees and incredible athletes I have had the pleasure of working with along the way. People will ask if there is another chapter. Yes, there will certainly be another chapter. See you in LA!”

Woods has signed multiple deals with Nike over his professional career, including most recently a 10-year agreement in 2013 worth around $200 million, according to The Oregonian. Woods had his own brand of apparel and footwear within the Nike brand, though he had been wearing FootJoy shoes following his February 2021 car accident, a move that prompted Nike to release a statement saying, “As he continues his return, we will work with him to meet his new needs.”

Woods signed a clubs deal with TaylorMade and a ball deal with Bridgestone after Nike shuttered its equipment operation in 2016.

“Tiger, you challenged your competition, stereotypes, conventions, the old school way of thinking. You challenged the entire institution of golf. You challenged us. And most of all, yourself. And for that challenge we’re grateful,” Nike said in its own social post, along with a photo and the words, “It was a hell of a round, Tiger.”

Prior to Woods’ announcement, Jason Day switched from Nike to Malbon Golf, and there are rumblings that those two aren’t the only high-profile names who could be moving on from Nike this year.

At last month’s PNC Championship, which ended up being Woods’ last event wearing Nike, Woods dodged questions about the rumors that his partnership with Nike would not be renewed at year’s end.

“I’m still wearing their product,” Woods replied to two separate questions.

Now, it’s official: Tiger and Nike are no more.

Funny how Nike stock plummeted about 20% a few months prior to this announcement

Yoooooooooooooo!!!!

You're right, Dec 21st 2023 it was trading at $122.53.

The very next day Dec 22nd 2023 it dropped to $108.04.

At the time of this post it's trading at $102.06

Leave it to Nike, they will generate a buzz with some limited edition Air Jordan's that will set off a firestorm sale bringing profits back up.

At least thats what Starbuks did with the Stanley cups. For a minute there was a boycott on Starbucks because of their "Solidarity with Palestine!".

People ran out clearing shelves bringing Starbucks profits back up to normal.

Red flags should be popping up everywhere.
Nike stood by Tiger through all of his shit.
And for him to all of sudden not renew his contract is puzzling to say the least. I know he wasn't too crazy about their golf clubs, but this goes a little deeper than that. The thing to watch for is to see if his son signs with someone other than Nike.

My eyes gasped when I saw this.

Few couples breaking up would get as much of a reaction from me. Barack and Michelle, maybe. Struggling to think of another. Wouldn't bat an eye at Beyonce and Jay-Z, Joe and Mika, any other couple I can think of.

But I never thought Tiger and Nike would break up. Didn't seem possible.

I wonder is under armor 1 of the possible choices.. they got Steph and tried to get kd.. seems like they be willing to spend major bread for certain athletes

He didn't take it, and protected the pga at the time, maybe nows the time.

Bet he was kicking himself since that merger

I'd be on the phone every day with the PGA, "yall mfkrs said protect the brand, hold out, don't take the Saudi Money! Well y'all did so, Where's my money?!"

I thought they signed this dude for LIFE with all the money he made for them
Damn, "ain't no guarantees MF's will love you next year" - Biggie Smalls

My man has his own brand and his son should be the torch bearer while crushing the competition!

yea aint nobody buyin that TW shit like that.... when he first came on the scene, with his Father,

I was a fan and wouldve gladly wore some tiger woods shit,

then he made that cablasion statement and I knew he was ONE OF THEM, and while still proud

of his accomplishments... had zero desire to wear any of nannygate mans shit..........

Now if he was with a sistar or even a blasian chick, I wouldve been able to identify,

but this muthafucka only sees yellow haired freaks, with no ass... and he could bag

damn near any fine honey he wants..

its like tiger what is you DOING??? I cant support such simpery and I doubt most real normal

thinkin men could....TW HA it shouldve been OBB, for Only blonde beckys... LOL...

hey Im sure tiger wont starve, he had a great run.

just aint nobody buyin that bullshit....

He’s been a loser for a while. They’ll make him a legacy act if his son has any talent.
C'mon man your Woods hatred is showing. Not having won a tournament since 2019 doesn't make him a loser. He broke his leg and ankle in five places in that 2021 auto crash and you expect him to be able to walk 72 holes and win a tournament playing against the best players in the world in the interim??? :hmm:

Tiger Woods, Nike split after 27 years, $660 million worth of contracts. I'd say it's been mutually beneficial relationship.

Did he get into an accident or was it a Rush Limbaugh impersonation?

How are you a winner when your golf flagship is a bonafide loser? Thats like Nike giving Ben Simmons a contract?

Sentiment will kill you every single time. Imagine living in a country that values money over urrathang, playing a sport that is catastrophic for the environment and only played by tax dodging fools, refusing not to sell the major league to the highest bidder.

The toxicology report after Woods previous accident in 2009 indicated the presence of pain killers in his system. No drugs were found to be in his system after the 2021 auto accident. The prevailing cause was determined to be speeding not drugs.

Jordan hasn't won any basketball games in the last 20 years. Tiger Woods never has to win again to be a winner for life.
