Joel Embiid ‘wasn’t too happy’ with way 76ers handled earlier injury announcement

Joel Embiid missed 14 of 15 games amidconfusion about his injury status. Then, the 76ers announced he’d miss four more. Then, they said he’d be out indefinitely.

Embiid wishes they would’ve just provided a longer timeline publicly in the first place.

Embiid, via Jessica Camerato of CSN Philly:

“I wasn’t too happy with the way it was kind of handled before,” Embiid said. “I saw the day-to-day part. I was told that I was going to miss at least two or three weeks. So I wasn’t happy with the way it was handled.

“I thought keeping my name out there was going to just like literally have people think about me all the time instead of just saying when I was going to be back.

That’s a reasonable complaint. It’s unfair to Embiid for questions to constantly swirl about his return when the team well knows it’s not imminent.

This is why teams often err on the side of a longer timeline in their public releases. If the player stays on his real timeline, he looks heroic for returning early. If he has a setback, maybe nobody outside the organization will ever know and question his toughness.

76ers general manager Bryan Colangelo, via Camerato

“We should have just said ‘out indefinitely,’ even though the treatment was still day to day,” Colangelo said. “But the fact that there was uncertainty, I’ll own that.”

Fixing strained relationships between the front office and players was one of the reasons Colangelo replaced Sam Hinkie. This isn’t the type of mistake Colangelo should be making.

But at least he took responsibility and seemingly learned from it. At this point, that’s all you can ask.

Brandon Jennings Receiving Interest From Wizards

The Washington Wizards are interested in signing Brandon Jennings.

Jennings was waived by the New York Knicks on Monday.

Stan Van Gundy suggested Jennings was going to sign with the Charlotte Hornets but the team was already committed to Briante Weber. The Golden State Warriors also had interest in Jennings but they were similarly committed to Jose Calderon.

The Wizards are currently playing Trey Burke as John Wall's backup at point guard.

And let's take it a step further; russ and Harden are having better seasons; it's not a knock on lbj; it shows how great of a season those 2 are having.....
They having better years stats wise yeah. Lebron playing for the playoffs....I don't know what the fuck they playing for. I guess first round if the playoffs. Dudes gonna be gassed by April.

76ers tanking for guys but I wonder do they expect to re-sign these guys? Not that they wouldn't but are they factoring in that these dudes want to play for a different organization? One that actually is ran well?

Yeah, we should probably take the lead of other Administrative Juggernauts like the Mavs... :D

let's not play them
harden left the thunder and hasn't missed the playoffs
and now with a team built around him they're right in the mix of everything.
and he was coming off the bench because that's where brooks thought he belonged.

So Houston and OKC arent playing for the playoffs:hmm:; so you feel like Russ and Harden are putting up empty stats:hmm:??

Right now I don't think LeBron or Durant deserves to be MVP, but one difference is they both play on a very structured offensive system that depends on ball movement, so often their assist number will go down due the hockey assist the systems promotes, plus both plays for teams that shoots for a high% so rebounds opportunity will be much less.
So while Harden and Westbrook's numbers may look better, they are playing of teams that facilitates those numbers..

Durant sure as Hell don't

Lebron should be a legit candidate

I knew you would come lol

IDC he ain't did shit MVP worthy

I said that before the year
It don't matter what a warrior does they won't be in the conversation because why would they be

And that's fine with me.
And you can't or anyone cant' even say I've been a lebron hater or devalued his worth cause I haven't

at the same time im just not going to let it slide.

this is basically the 1st time kevin durant has been coached his entire career past just go get a shot from the same spot on the same isolation play and hope for the best and he's responding on both ends of the court.
respect what he's doing on the court

it's baffling to me how let's say 4 years ago niggas was on some man these dudes don't have fundamentals its all about me me me that's why the nba is how it is and i remember the good old days where you had to play offense and defense

and then the warriors come and toss out 30 assists a night and have been near the tops in defense and dudes like i hate them lol

That's cool but I'm not a Warriors hater and you know that

Been giving the Warriors props these last few years

I just don't respect the KD move however and I won't waver on that

And the Warriors still the favorites to me even with the Cavs getting their "help" lmao

I understand that that's fine with me. All im saying is respect what he's doing on the court cause it's special.
And if you tired of playing the same way and you want to get coached for once then you make a move.
last year proved that donovan is brooks 2.0
durant had his hand in contributing to the l for damn sure but how many times are they going to run the same fucking action same fucking play to the same fucking spot at the elbow of the top of free throw circle every single last play of the game and final possessions before something has to change?
that's what happened against the grizzlies remember? nigga had a flashback to okc and went hero ball and the warriors let him so they could tell him that's not how we gonna play fam

The nerve of this gimpy bitch. Bet the team wasnt "too happy" with his decision to be a backup dancer for Meek Mill on fucked up knee.

Process tho..

That knee was fine, they couldn't say tank so they had to sit the most positive feature

The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed Norris Cole for the remainder of the season.

Oklahoma City traded away Cameron Payne last week and needed a backup point guard.

Cole went unsigned as a free agent in the offseason after averaging 10.6 points and 3.7 assists for the New Orleans Pelicans in 15-16. Cole signed with the Chinese Basketball Association in October, but departed in December after suffering an injury. Cole received clearance from the CBA in recent days to sign with the Thunder.

Jazz Unable To Agree Upon Extension With George Hill
FEB 28, 2017 2:13 PM

Hill_George_uta_161104.jpg

The Utah Jazz were unable to agree upon a contract extension with George Hill.

The Jazz could have given Hill the remainder of their cap space this season and an extension of up to three years with annual raises of 7.5 percent.

The best offer Utah could make to Hill is for $88.3 million to be committed to the Jazz through the 2019-20 season, which computes to a three-year, $74.7 million extension plus $13.6 million this season.

The Jazz remain interested in re-signing Hill in the offseason. Hill was advised he can get a much better deal on the open market than he could at this time with an extension.
