Official NBA 2016-2017 Thread - 30 teams, 1 goal. 2 weeks left, so much can happen!!

I still would rather have Sanders because the problem with Thompson is that he is a undersized center at 6-9 and Jones is also undersized for at the 5 at 6-9 Bogut is a ligit center but has problems on the switch offs rotations, Sanders is 6'11 with decant foots speed and very athletic, according to the Cavs he killed it at his work out, but then again that can just be talk.
But if he is in shape he is the best candidate for them.

Yea, seem like they are high on sanders but Height ain't the only factor of being a rim protector. Shit jones doing a like more than Ty on offensive .

Sanders is a monster rim protector (had a triple double with 10 blocks) and whats ironic was part of the reason why Jones got so many points that game was that in order for the Cavs to rim protect they have to do it collectively as a team often playing harder and over achieving, but every so often they get into these funks were thy get real complasive and lazy, and the first place it usually show is rim protection and switching off on the pick and rolls.
I think Sanders if 100 could instantly help out in those instances especially vs teams with big centers and teams that like to attack the paint.

Spurs should have made some trade moves, but at the same time they don't really have players anybody wants, lol.

Crazy to watch Parker cook on CP3 last night. I see why they stuck with Danny Green, but the need to look to replace him or something. I think he may have reached his ceiling.

And this Dwayne kat just comes out of no where. Nothing special about him other than he is true center.

But until they handle their guard situation, it's probably going to be another 2nd round knockout. I just don't see how they can go deep in the playoffs with Parker and Mills in the back court.

They are practically just playing low possession basketball just to give themselves a chance to win every night.

But once again, the Spurs lets possible trades and free agents slip by them. Gibson, Korver, Ibaka, and even Daren Williams. He'll the could have even got Cousins for the amount of money the Pelicans gave up to get him.

I just wonder do they actively look at moves this time of year. Everything they do seems to be under the radar.

Man im not shitting on Sanders I was always a fan of dude. I watch the Bucks closely back then. I feel they should be way ahead of they're current situation.
Now the reasoning for that not happening is another story.

The thing with Jones vs Sanders is we know what Jones gonna bring, (especially with no Love at the moment) even if it's not rim protecting, his skill set would provide deep depth.

Lets look at the current rotation, with the possible additions.

Kyrie, Felder
Shum, Krover, McRae
James, Jefferson, jones
Fyre, Williams
TT,

With on iR Love, Jr

Possible additions

Deron Williams & Larry Sanders (seem like a done deal), they can cut Derrick Williams but hopefully the don't because he brings that energy(that this team lacks way to often) which is another reason I like the idea of Jones.

Boston might scoop Jones up tho.

Just saw this also..don't know how true or reliable this is

I didnt even know he was on their watch board

Going off topic for a second

Remembering the night Pistol Pete scored 68 points

Forty years ago today, Feb. 25, 1977, Pete Maravich played one of the most spectacular games in New Orleans basketball history. “The Pistol” scored 68 points in a 124-107 win against the New York Knicks at the Superdome.

A look back at that memorable night:

The Knicks entered the game with a 27-32 record. They had defeated the Jazz 119-102 just three nights earlier in New York. The Jazz entered the game with an overall record of 25-33 but were 20-8 at home.

Maravich victimized five different Knicks guards: Walt Frazier; Butch Beard; Earl Monroe; Dean Meminger; and Tickey Burden. Frazier was known as one of the best defenders in the NBA but Maravich averaged 35 points a game in his three previous matchups with Frazier. “We tried everything humanly possible to stop him,” Knicks coach Red Holtzman told The Times-Picayune that night. “We double-teamed him, we tried to have guys help out. We tried trapping him. He was just so darned hot, we couldn’t handle him.”

Maravich made 26 of 43 field goals and 16 of 18 free throws en route to his record-setting night. And this was before the 3-point shot had been instituted. At the time, it was the seventh highest scoring output in NBA history. It set the benchmark for the most points ever scored by a guard, eclipsing Jerry West’s mark of 63 in 1962. The mark still ranks fourth among guards all-time and 12th overall in NBA history.

"It was really nice to achieve a personal goal like that and win," Maravich told the Times-Picayune after the game. "A lot of times I did this in college, and we didn't win."

The Knicks, afterward, were spellbound by the performance.

Bob McAdoo, the Knicks starting center and a three-time NBA scoring champion, said, “He was shooting from everywhere: every corner of the court, fast breaks, set plays. The man beat us by himself."

Knicks guard Earl Monroe: “There was no way we could stop him. The Pistol was hot tonight, he was really going off. The thing that came to mind was that he was hitting shots from everywhere. Unconscionable shots”

Maravich led the Jazz and the NBA in scoring that season with a 31.1-points-per-game average. The Jazz finished the season 35-47, fifth in the NBA's Central Division.

"Pound for pound, ounce for ounce, I've always felt Pete was the most talented basketball player around. Some players are known for their defense or their rebounding. Pete can run, pass, shoot, drive, jump ... he can do it all. He is truly a great talent."

I would do exactly what the report is saying, cut McRae (he's has potential but is to light and weak) and I love the the athleticism, defense, size and ability to attack the rim Derrick Williams brings to the team these are the type of players they need vs the Warriors..
I would love one to have at least one 7 footer Sanders is 6'11 close enough but is more mobile than Bogut.
And Williams is a no brainer.

My concerns are there are teams where not having a 7 footer center can work, for example when the Cavs play the Warriors they are almost forced to play Fry more so they can pull Zaza and McGee out to guard the perimeter.. I will be comfortable with Thompson and Jones on Zaza but if McGee keeps developing those undersized guys will have big problems with him in the paint.
This is where Sanders and Bogut comes in, but the problem I have with Bogut is that he is too one dimensional and will get lost vs a team like the Warriors who move the ball so much and know how to pick apart a big slow footed center.
