Believe It or Not: Ben Affleck wants out of the BatMan Movie Entirely.

Honestly I stopped reading after the "failure of BvS" part! No matter how people try and spin it. The movie may not have been critically as successful from what we thought but failure? Hardly!

It's hard to have a decent conversation when basics like that aren't fully realized!

It's why you rarely catch me anymore in threads like these. They're pretty much like exensions of the talking heads by people that have no idea how movies and/or the movie industry works.

just curious as to what your thoughts were on the film. The script was horrible, regardless of how much money it made. And WB seems to be to be treating this movie as a failure. No one is treating ths film as a 800 million dollar success story.[/QUOTE]

if true bwahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

i said it b4 i told you guys from the very start bvs was a stupid idea period..the smart human vs jesus from out of space makes no fucking sense due to the greatness that was the zod fight..no way do u go from that to fighting a human..people on this board said i don't kno wtf i was talking about bvs was a great idea it's gonne be a billion dollar smash yadda yadda..now look at where we are now bwahaaaaaaaaaa... all they had to do was come out with man of steel 2..but no they wanted to bring in the human who everybody knows won't die so the battle made no goddamn sense...lol this is 1 of the greatest i told you so ever..lmao this will hands down as the biggest failure ever..bizzaro, brainac , doomsday, anybody could've been in man of steel 2 but nope bvs comes out and the worst enemy was themselves...tears from infinite laughter is comin out..i was totally against the idea and from the looks of it warner bros wish they could turn back the hands of time...dumbest idea ever bwahaaaaaaaaaaaaa

The comics and DC straight to video cartoons did a better job of setting u and executing the fight between those two.

if it were me I'd pretend the DCEU never happened, start clean with batman, superman,WW and flash close with green lantern and lead into a justice league movie. not everything needs to be an origin movie people aren't dumb do a 10-15min intro about how they got their powers and hit the ground running. Not everything needs to this grimdark brooding shit they been making, Ive always felt wb/DC never really embraced the source material of these movies

i wouldn't even do that..u see how watchmen was?? i'll juss start using graphic novels or characters a lot of people don't kno but who have good stories and juss do stand alone films.. watchmen was an example...suicide squad could've been that if they didn't completely fuck it up.. juss get the b list shit burn.. unfamiliar characters can be big hits if they do it rite..make it grimey... deadpool is kinda like that(even though it's a comedy) but it's in its own world and it's like a stand alone flick..need more of that..this is where dc could shine if they decided to go back to the drawing board

I would start by saying your definition of "horrible" and my definition of the word are completely different. But let's regress for a moment! My immediate thoughts about the film were simply this:

It was a completely different movie than what I thought it was going to be. That doesn't mean it was bad. It just means it was different. The former is where some people stop and draw the conclusion. It wasn't what I expected, therefore it was bad!!ir <<<--BTW this is most of BGOL~

I, on the other hand, knew I would need to see multiple viewing and ultimately watch the ultimate cut. Why?

Because some movies as you are aware are very thin! No interpretation or additional viewings are required to get it. You watch it the first time and bam you got 90% of the movie. While other films are very layered. They have several things going on at once..stories, themes, idioms. A clash of metaphysics and dichotomies. BvS falls into this second category superbly.

If the board were more sophisticated we could of have had great discussions on what exactly do those two forms offer? Short vs. Long term gains and even more powerfully still, look at examples through history of works fitting this subject matter.

I'm rambling now..so much good stuff! Can't express it all coherently.

Bottomline, similar to Watchman, BvS style of storytelling is like amazing art. Which inherently means most will look at it and conclude it's "horrible." Further, like that previous Synder work it is way ahead of it's time making CBM Metaphysics! That movie has done more to give CBM future life than ANY other CBM that has been released the past 15 years.

Batman vs superman should've been the highest grossing comic book movie ever
It's a failure

^^^This is why your life and your logic will always be shit in life! I quote your logic as following "Batman vs superman should've been the highest grossing comic book movie ever" if not "It's a failure"

Go to your room and think about why that's the most absurd thing anyone has every posted in the history of BGOL.

I really don't see why this isn't dome more...

I think with 300 and Sin City...we seen it done successfully, the scripts the storyboards essentially are ALL right there.

I aint saying STRAIGHT TRANSLATION...even thought that WOULD be an interesting trend that I think would have a very loyal very profitable audience.

I think the PRIMARY issue is this.

It seems WB/DC is more concerned with making a good COMIC BOOK MOVIE and not just a MOVIE.

The reason winter Solider is already considered a classic is because it was a good movie FIRST and just happened to have super heroes in IT.

even as far back as Blade ( a movie that should STILL get more recognition)

It was a action movie horror movie and comic book movie...but it was a damn good MOVIE.

The Watchman like I said earlier already had all the storyboards dialogue and art everything...but it was a CLASSIC MOVIE because they made sure to agonize over EVERY scene every performance SERIOUSLY...

but you can't do that with EVERYTHING.

It is like the CURSE of DC/WB just because WATCHMEN was the benchmark they seem to be a SLAVE to that look and concept,

EVERYTHING can't BE that it doesn't have to and shouldn't be.

Cause although Marvel went the BRIGHT 4 COLOR COMIC BOOK?

Winter Solider was dark as hell, so was Civil War Ant Man was FUNNY and Guardians was funny dark and a real ADVENTURE...and Deadpool created it own lane PERIOD, but STILL stayed loyal to the source material.

winter soldier is the shit and now dr strange is up there to for me..it was a comic book movie that didn't seem like a comic book movie..actually if u never knew it was a comic book it could be 1 of those stand alone movies i was talking about with it's own sequels..dc need to go this route period

I have watched the director's cut and it made the movie more tolerable for me. However , it still didn't fix all the problems with the script. For the record, Iliked Watcmen but thought it would have been better as a series or miniseries. I would be happy to go point by point on why I hated BVS, if you want to continue the discussion.

Oh absolutely! I'm always for good conversation and analysis. However, I must warn you. It's bold and declaring to make a statement such as "it still didn't fix all the problems with the script" because is supposes you know what the writer and director's intentions were with that very script and how they failed in it's execution.

Here's part II! Unlike most here and particularly for BvS. I intimately watched and researched Synder's interviews concerning how he makes movies, BvS and his thoughts on CBMs in general. These pieces of information are absolutely pivotal in understanding why BvS was made the way it was and what was the point.

Now...What are your contentions...?

i will say this off the top. I should not have read interviews watch extended cuts, read comics and side stories, etc. in order for me to understand what is going on. Well written and directed movies tell you everything you need to know during the course of the film. Look at Man of Steel..same characters... same director. Everything I needed to know was right there on the screen. I l love Man of Steel as much as I hated BVS.

my man tical was like if u saw the behind the scenes of the donuts they ate and the coffee they dranked u'd understand why save martha was the greatest line in history..it's not on the screen but behind the scenes for u to love it..argentina got the bts tapes b4 bvs came out, u should to

not going to lie the Martha thing was the one thing I liked about the movie. The only problem is that I have to go against my own argument. Because man of steel and batman begins did such a good job with establishing the parental relationships with each characters respective parents, the Martha thing worked for me. Apparently, I am the only one who was cool with it... lol.

I still don't like how they killed Clark's Dad...

that scene COULD and SHOULD have resonated more and made more sense.

If you read what I wrote "in context" to my statement to the OP. Then you would realize it was to let the OP know that "in addition" to what's contained in the movie. I'm also dialoguing with him using outside information to have a more complete discussion.

But, like most of BGOL, you cats interpet not from the information presented in context. But how it reasonates with you and run with it.

Be it as it may! Majority of your(BGOL members) thoughts/conclusions are already know about the movie. Nothing to see or further explore there.

it's like jason and freddy goin toe to toe stabbing each other to death, kicking each other ass, than freddy on the floor and jason bout to chop off his head and freddy goes save martha..than jason looks down and does the che che sound and backs up than does the che che sound again, than freddy daughter runs in and goes jason freddy mother named martha..than jason goes che che again which means martha dosen't die today..u'd be like wtf is this shitttttttttt..that's how i felt with bvs

to be fair I dd not read the entire exchange...like you said

I was JUST going on that ONE point.

but I think I've said this to you before, NO ONE who is a REAL comic book fan WANTS DC to fail in any way.

but WB/DC makes it harder and harder to NOT be hyper critical.

And sadly to be honest...a lot of it has NOTHING to do with the ACTUAL Directors ACTORS and talent ...

it seems the execs are the issue.

Cause I will agree with one thing you said earlier...

if you DO read interviews and watch the deleted scenes and directors cuts?

Its like they are COMPLETELY different films.

But that really densest matter...we gotta judge THEM and EVERYTHING else on what they actually put out there on the screen.

If a girl talks dirty to you for WEEKS about all the nasty freaky things she is gonna do to you

and the night FINALLY comes..and she just lies there?

And afterward she has a HUGE smile on her face and turns to you filled with pride ans says

"Was it good or you?"

How would YOU feel?

It's ironic that you use Jason as an example. Remember he had mommy issues early in the series...lol. However, I do understand where you are coming from. In your example, you have two prolific killers, who have no desire other than to kill, so yes them suddenly stopping because of some "random" comment would seem off.

BVS you have one character who is a god, yet is totally humble when it comes to his human parents. Batman through other properties makes it very clear he misses his parents (I know goes against my argument). Superman tries to tell Batman before the fight started that he needed his help with finding his mom. Neither one of these guys like fighting (as far as I can tell). So when the Martha thing happened it didn't seem to be random, not to me anyway.

here's a bunch of mini problems in there..lex throws lois lane off a blding and in less than 5 secs supes is there to catch her..cause he heard her scream... meanwhile his mom is crying and even talking somewhere else while being kidnapped and yet supes doesent use his hearing to find her:hmm::hmm:..it was his mom that told him to focus yet he dosen't for her but does for lois:hmm::hmm::hmm:... 2nd after the dumbass apology and them becoming friends..why does supes allow batman to go save his moms instead of himself..think ur superman, that's ur mother, why are u gonna put ur moms life in the hands of a human that actually has a chance of failing on her rescue mission..wouldn't it be smarter to have white jesus save his mom instead of smart human.. i was looking like wait what person does that especially when the person is stronger than the other..so many things of not making sense or logic

thank you.. you saved me some time in typing. You and I had the same issues. Plus, the bomb he didn't hear. Found Lois in both Africa and at the bottom of lake just by using his hearing, couldn't find mom.

The best way to some up the Martha thing. Out of all the things I hated about the movie and out of all ths stupid things they setup in the movie, the Martha thing was the most forgivable.

the worst part was the save martha part was already ruined because i saw it somewhere on the internet and i still was upset even when i saw it..i was like wait hold on no no i heard whispers of them having the same mother and that's whats gonna make them cool but i didn't think it was gonna go down like this oh god wtf is this..i was juss having flashbacks of zod and crew than thinking of that useless battle and shaking my head like why did they ruin the man of steel franchise for this

Sorry I misread your post. I, too, was under the impression that you looked to other sources to help you understand what the movie was trying to do.

I have noticed more and more directors explaining film points in interviews that should have been in the movie. Like Ridley Scott explaining the engineers in interviews instead of putting those plot points in the movie , Promethus.

If it helps, Superman was extremely weak by the time Batman offered to help... lol.

nope he flew to the weird noise that was on his ship..than went to battle mode quickfast.. bullets will not hurt that guy even when he's at 25 percent.. if he can fly he can try..that's my final verdict

I still don't like how they killed Clark's Dad...

that scene COULD and SHOULD have resonated more and made more sense.
I was okay with the scene and hated it the same time. Yes, my first thought was that Clark should save his dad. However, not saving his dad made perfect sense. The first time we see Clark really use his abilities is when he saves the kids in the sinking bus. Remember the first conversation between clark and dad. "what should I have done, let them die" dad-"Well...maybe." Dad would have been totally okay with a bus full of children dying if it meant Clark could keep his secret. All throughout the movie, we hear Dad telling Clark to stay hidden. Hell, he even told Clark to let the bullies beat up on him, so he wouldn't be outed. By the time, we get to the tornado scene, it makes sense he was hesitant about saving his father. The last thing is father told him was don't try to save me(didn't say it, but made the motion). Before and after we see that scene, we see Clark hiding for years before a Priest talked some sense into him.

I agree with you that it was not a perfect way to kill him, but at least it made sense as to why Clark didn't act. I think the first Superman did it right. He has a heart attack.....Clark not around to save him..father dies.

I would start by saying your definition of "horrible" and my definition of the word are completely different. But let's regress for a moment! My immediate thoughts about the film were simply this:

you are equivocating- nothing you wrote in defense of your POV is in cause of a wider discussion... keep it real - if you want a wider discussion on BvS as a FILM and STORY -there are members here that will be happy to discuss it: from editing to plot and even keep it in a vacuum within the context of the world created in MoS and BvS

That movie has done more to give CBM future life than ANY other CBM that has been released the past 15 years.

They have to get better!

we are on the same page brother...

and honestly I think IF Affleck REALLY does this?

It will reverberate and heads will roll...and that is all good.

They REALLY need to realize that DC HANDS DOWN have the 3 LARGEST most POPULAR Modern myths in the Trinity...

if they TREAT them as such?

they cannot lose.

I can't believe I'm about to say this but they NEED to have Dini, Kevin Smith Jim Lee and Marc Bernadin in powerful advisory roles from here on out.
