a movie can meet or exceed financial expectation and not be a hit - if it exceeds the expectation by x% then its a hit
Deadpool grossing $190 million would exceed expectations for a Feb release and a $60 mill movie and be good profit but not a hit - XMen First Class met expectations but wasn't a hit
to me a flop is vague - it could be a movie that under performs its expectations financially but still turns a profit
but A dud / bomb is unmistakable- it loses money - doesn't make break even $

I agree with you. But i feel The DCU falls into that grey area..not quite a flop at the box office but not quite a hit either. If the movies made up the difference in sales, rentals , streaming etc. would you call them a hit then? According to one site, it made almost 70 million on the home market and doesn't include cable/streaming rights. so theoretically, it could get close to or cross the billion mark.

I think Fox is better practiced at getting aftermarket revenue...

Fam. I'm an old comic head, a fanboy but I'm also a student of film. You of all people should know I'm being as objective as possible. Film is art, it is subjective but you know a good film when you see it.

Look at the recent Dredd. Great movie. Didn't make any money. Look at Revenge of the Fallen. Horrible movie. Made a ton of money. Which movie failed its fanbase?

I read them WB scripts man, I felt myself cringe. Just like I cringed when I read them Transformers scripts. I couldn't even believe the direction they were going, the writers seem like they're writing under pressure and connecting dots. Case in point Ehren Kruger did a flick called Arlington Road that was nothing short of brilliant... he went on to do Bayformers and killed his entire style. Same shit is happening here from script to editing.

that's all we can do, and I hope for the best...

And I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Keanu Reeves as Constantine! That film was so underrated it was criminal. The portrayal of that entire world from the absent father himself to the suit wearing, barefooted devil was so full of potential. I wish he would've came back for another and be part of their dark verse.

Then again I dunno whats happening with DC Dark without Del Toro. The Justice League Dark anime film is a start but all this stuff is in jeopardy now.

They wouldn't dare. This is a fanboys dream. This would make too much sense and across all of these platforms, it would expand the meta universe into the film universe and connect all the dots. I see this in my head but it wouldn't work, its like crossing the streams.
