Official BGOL Crypto Currency Thread ★★★★★

Ok I got the bitcoin in coinbase. How do I get it to kraken?

I just shared this w/ someone...

to start the transfer process you need to generate a deposit address in kraken to send the bitcoins to from coinbase...in kraken...

1) go to the FUNDS tab
2) make sure you click DEPOSIT
3) on the left side there's a list of denominations...select BITCOIN (XBT)
4) click the green button on the bottom that reads GENERATE NEW ADDRESS
5) it will be added as a DEPOSIT ADDRESS (NEW ADDRESS)

that is the deposit address you will copy and paste into coinbase when you choose to send funds...if you're not sure exactly where to paste it hit me up

Man I went and opened a new checking account at a local bank today and deposited $1,000 to drop on this "Ripple whatever the fuck this is". Fuck it.

If I lose it I won't even give a fuck cause $1,000 ain't shit.

Opened the new account just for the purpose of fucking with this "crypto currency whatever the fuck". I couldn't be fucking with my real main bank account, depositing and withdrawing shit and putting all that info out there because if something happened to main account I'd be pissed but I don't give a fuck about this new bank account I just created with the different bank. Using this bullshit bank account will keep my mind at ease if some kind of bullshit ever does happen.

I deposited cash in the new bank account so I would have immediate access to it but I still can't buy bitcoins with it because Coinbase is making me wait like 2-3 days for verification of the bank account. But fuck it.

Maybe this will help the BGOL family on how to buy ripple quickly without using kraken.

Step 1) Setup an account with coinbase.com (I notice a few people are already on this). When you use a debit/ credit card the money transfer is instant.

Step 2) Buy Bitcoin at coinbase.com which is also instant after you fund your account using your debit/ credit card.

Step 3) Instead of using kraken, I prefer using poloniex.com. At poloniex.com, you don’t need to wait for days for verification. Setting up an account is very straight forward, simple and instant. Once the account is active, you will transfer your bitcoin you have at coinbase.com to poloniex.com

Step 4) To transfer money to poloniex from coinbase, you must be login to both accounts. First at poloniex homepage, go to the “Balances” drag down menu at the top right corner and click on “Deposits and Withdrawals”. At that page you will see a long list of cryptocurrency, look for “BTC” Bitcoin line. To the far right of the screen you see “Deposit” and “Withdraw”. Click on Deposit. Once you click on “Deposit” you will see a “Bitcoin Deposit Address”. Copy that address. Now go to your coinbase account and at the left side of the screen click “Send/ Requests” tab. There paste the “Bitcoin Deposit Address” where it says “Recipient”. Below that you will put how much Bitcoin you want to transfer to poloniex. Now just click on the blue tab “Send Funds”.

Step 5) Go back to poloniex, but now at the “Balances” drag down menu click “History”. Here is where you see the money transfer from your coinbase account to your poloniex account. This takes roughly 5-10 minutes, sometimes faster.

Step 6) Now you have money at cryptocurrency exchange “Poloniex” and you will be able to buy any ALT coin you want. To make a purchase, click on the “Exchange” tab at the top left hand of the screen. Once there, go to the “Markets” panel at the right side of the screen and type “XRP” for ripple. After you do that, scroll down, and on the left side you see “Buy XRP”. Don’t touch the “Price BTC” field, just type in the amount of Ripple you want to buy in the “Amount XRP” field. It does the calculation for you in the bottom where it says “Total BTC”.

Step 7) After you make your purchase, go back to the “Balances” drag down menu and click “Deposit and Withdrawals”. Scroll all the way down to XRP and your newly purchase ripple is here. Now you can keep it here or you can make a withdraw to your ripple wallet.

I have not found a ripple wallet that I like yet, so my steps ends here.

Some helpful tips

I recommend on creating a new email address just for your cryptocurrency activities only.

I also recommend making a difficult password for each of three accounts (new email account, coinbase account and your poloniex account) you have associated with cryptocurrency (this should already be a given). If you need help on doing that these two websites should give you some help to test the strength of your password

https://howsecureismypassword.net/ and http://www.passwordmeter.com/

BTW poloniex does not work in the state of New York, due to the Bitcoin license law. The alternative website will be https://bittrex.com/

Now my perfect lurking record is finally over.

great info...I might give them a try...cuz kraken takes about an hour to confirm the transfer...question tho...what are the daily/monthly limits @ poloniex? where verification comes into play @ kraken is when you want buy/sell more than their daily/monthly restrictions

Maybe should've asked this question before I dropped some money into this ripple shit, but how we supposed to make $$ off this? I've been reading and can't find anything the suggests being a $$ maker like bitcoin.

Regarding the value of XRP it has a fixed supply, but currently little demand. It's value *(and it's credit risk) are directly tied to the utility value of the entire Ripple payment network.

If the Ripple network grows and is adopted globally as an inter payment network protocol the value of XRP's utility value will also increase.

Obviously if the Ripple network is not adopted, having XRP would be like having postage stamps to a postal network that no longer delivers packages.

scroll past the questions and you will see a few more responses...also keep in mind this doesn't need to be like bitcoin to make good $$$ since we're buying in so low...honestly I'd put in what you can comfortably afford to lose...dude above said $1000 ain't shit...it sure as shit is to me  but $100-200 I can afford to gamble w/ :dunno:

Poloniex daily limit is $2,000.00 with the initial account setup (Level 1 Verification)

Level 2 Verification comes with a daily limit of $7,000

Level 3 Verification comes with a daily limit of $25,000

Daily limit more than $25,000 requires Enhanced Verification, which you will have to contact their support team.

I hope this help

Ok the bottom dropped in the altcoin/bitcoin market today so.....all you mofos waiting on tier 3 verification hit a lick.....you can buy in now at the low low...I am in but want to spend more cash on the discount....

Bad bitcoin market means good news for ripple...China is tripping on bitcoin (its decentralization), so there needs to be a centralized replacement that the banks agree on...that would be...you guessed it....

again good post...made me look into some shit...I googled 'poloniex vs. kraken' and I'm reading a lot of complaints about kraken crashing/freezing several times @ moments when ppl were trying to sell...seems to happen a lot...I'll keep reading more...then I read about mtgox which offered a similar service until they decided to just freeze everyone's account and basically go belly up resulting in customers collectively losing $450 million worth of bitcoins...owner was arrested...and $$$ is still unaccounted for...I'll still keep kraken but spread some love to poloniex as well and again urge ppl to gamble what they can afford to lose

IMO the coinbase way is way quicker to start. You can jump into buying them with coinbase within an hour. Then work on getting verified and adding funds to your account through your bank etc.
Whether this shit hits or not I'm glad I got in when the shit was 6cents per every 1. I'm going to buy some more before the 17th too maybe tomorrow and hold a significant amount just in case.

OK, I'm along for the ride. Thanks for the suggestion of just doing Tier 2 verification and transferring funds via coinbase

Ok your previous instructions worked. I now have the bitcoins in Kraken.

How do I get Ripple?

1) click the TRADE tab
2) click NEW ORDER
3) @ the top left change the currency setting to read XRP/XBT
4) the green button will change to BUY XRP (ripple) WITH XBT (bitcoins)
5) either enter how much ripple you want to buy first field (XRP) or how much bitcoin you want to spend last field (XBT)
6) click the green button BUY XRP WITH XBT

should happen instantly...go back to trade...look @ your balance to confirm how much ripple you have

Ok get your PC security trump tight.

Go to the crypto currency you want's home page.

Download the wallet software. (Rippex.net)

Set up the currency's wallet.

Go to a site to buy, sell, or trade currency (I like changelly, they like USD but your transactions are limited for a minute) set up the buy.

Transfer the crypto currency to your wallet's address.

You can set up security keys and do a few other things to store your electronic currency....

With all that said....start slow....

can this only be done on a PC computer...can it be done on a mac?

*edit*

yes it can

I didnt do coinbase because ive already been verified with localbitcoins. I was able to desposit and buy Ripple in less than 5 mins with your post.

Thxs

I only did $200 worth. We'll see how it goes!

Whats the point of a ripple wallet? As a backup plan?
Mine are sitting in poloniex.
What are some good offline wallets?

still reading up on it...good question tho

I quickly read that some feel it's more secure/arguably safer than storing it w/ kraken...poloniex and the like after what happened w/ mtgox...but how would you go about selling it when you're ready? I guess ultimately you'd still have to go thru those sites?

this has been an exciting/informative thread

How is localbitcoins?

I like the privacy factor of localbitcoin. I dont have to link my bank account and stuff for verification.. I dont deal with bitcoins a lot nor do i buy a large amount of coins, so im willing to pay the premium from LBC sellers just so i can get faster service and privacy. The guy i just bought $200 worth of coins from gave me my stuff in less than 5 mins. And he didnt ask for additional verification. Ive only made three transactions on that site since i joined. I used my business paypal account to pay (not my personal one).

Because the site is more straight forward that Coinbase, theres a risk of getting ripped off on LBC tho.....depending on who u deal with. I tend to stay away from the people with low sells/ratings and the ones who ask for too much ID.

See and there's a difference. You're dealing with people and coinbase is a financial institution basically as is kraken.
so hell no you not linking your bank account to something like that..

I got it work after fighting with it for a while  I think I did step #3 before any other steps and that made it not work. I'm not sure though. But when I came back and did things in the order that you listed it worked!! :mike::dance::dance2:

You are a gentleman and scholar!

If you ever decide you want to beat the shit outta HNIC or any of these other BGOL clowns :beatyourass: I got your back!!!

Most of these sites have extensive security in regards to usd which delays your ability to purchase xrp in a timely fashion
