Official NBA 2016-2017 Thread - 30 teams, 1 goal. 2 weeks left, so much can happen!!

He's good too, but Westbrook aint normal!

His defense may be the only flaw I can find. Westbrook aint on Cp3 level as far as best defensive PG's, but he's not trash either.

Westbrook has been overshadowed by Durant for years. But even when Durant was playing with him, he was still putting up big numbers more times than not.

I used to call him a ball hog, but this little ninja getting damn near a triple double every night. So the ball hog accusation is hard to come by.

Little guys who find a way to dominate the NBA are impressive to me. Thats why D Rose (in his prime) always impressed me more than LBJ.

Westbrook should be getting more than what he agreed to in that new contract.
That's why AI is my favorite player..he shouldn't have been able to do none of that shit he did; dominating!!!!i don't care if they didn't win, this mofo took the sixers to the finals; none of his peers did that, NONE!!!!and that's why i like steph too......

Porzingis is a future HOF. White boy can ball!! I noticed it when he was jacking up jumpers on my Bulls not long ago.

Too bad the Knicks dont have a player (in Melo) who is willing to take a back seat for the sake of winning. Thats one of many reasons why that team will never win a title. Got Melo being Melo, Rose doing whats needed for a check and Noah basically collecting his money while he heads for retirement.

After this year is over, the Knicks need to consider building around the White boy. Sorry Spike!! If Melo aint willing to do what Wade did in Miami (and take a back seat for a title) they need to consider gettin rid of him. But i know thats not likely to happen. Soooo.........

Russell Westbrook equals LeBron with 44 triple-doubles despite fewer games played

11:59 PM CT

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Russell Westbrook recorded his 44th career triple-double on Saturday night, moving past Fat Lever and into a tie with LeBron James for sixth all time.

There's a catch, though: Westbrook did it in 395 fewer games than James.

"I mean, nothing," Westbrook said when asked what it means to be in such company. "I'm happy we won -- that's the most important part for me. But I definitely don't take anything for granted. Like I said, every night I step on the floor I try to compete at a high level and [am] thankful I can play the game I love every night."

Westbrook finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 15 assists in theOklahoma City Thunder's 106-88 win over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night. It was Westbrook's seventh triple-double this season and his fourth in the past six games.

There have been 14 total triple-doubles in the NBA this season. Last season, Westbrook finished with 18, the most in a campaign since Magic Johnson in 1981-82. The Thunder point guard is on pace for 33 this season, which would be the most since Oscar Robertson had 41 in 1961-62.

"It's a combination of me getting better as a player and also being patient," Westbrook said. "Before, it was a little different because I was not as effective at finishing around the basket, but now I'm able to get down to the basket and make plays for my teammates."

Ahead of Westbrook on the triple-double leaderboard is Larry Bird (59),Wilt Chamberlain (78), Jason Kidd (107), Johnson (138) and Robertson (181). Robertson, of course, is the last player to average a triple-double for an entire season.

Through 18 games, Westbrook sits at 31.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 11.1 assists.

"To put up those numbers, the people that are in that category, he's a Hall of Fame player," Thunder coach Billy Donovan said. "I mean, that's really what he is. He's a Hall of Fame player. And it's really remarkable what he's doing."

Westbrook doesn't scrape by with triple-doubles, either, making it a trademark to supersize them into eye-popping stat lines. In his 44 triple-doubles, he's averaging 25.3 points, 11.8 rebounds and 12.9 assists. For perspective, in his 107, Kidd averaged 17.5 points, 11.3 rebounds and 12.2 assists.

"He's extremely rare, just because I've never seen a player be able to impact the game in the amount of ways he can impact it," Donovan said. "And I mean that from a standpoint of analytically or statistically. He's impacting our team in terms of his leadership, he impacts our team raising our energy, he raises when we're down ... He can do so many different things. I think that's why he plays so fearlessly, because he knows there are ways for him [to impact the game]. He's not just a one-way limited player."

As ESPN's Tom Haberstroh recently noted, Westbrook also is playing a differently paced game than Robertson did in his triple-double season. On average, Westbrook's team is playing about 25 fewer possessions per game than Robertson's did.

Westbrook doesn't like talking about his historic numbers, always returning to the most important result -- winning. But for the most part, that's what the Thunder do when he records a triple-double. They're now 38-6 in his triple-double games, including 5-2 this season.

"As a coach you feel very, very blessed and fortunate to be able to work with someone like that every single day just because he takes it so seriously," Donovan said. "He cares so much about the team, and winning."

According to ESPN Stats & Information, at his current clip, Westbrook would pass Bird for fifth all time sometime in mid-January.

Breh talk yo shit and say the entire stat line

nah we know he can score.
kd was on karl anthony towns tonight. karl had 18 points and single digit rebounds, draymond didn't play.

kd had 10 boards and 6 blocks tonight that's most important. showing he's accepting the challenge.

only reason im not in full panic mode.. like i was last year all during the season is because last year was a victory lap for them.. they had won they were on auto pilot and it caught up to them in the end.. not running the offense and they lost the series.. when they run it they have a chance to win. cavs took it.

kd ain't got no ring. and he better win a ring joining the warriors or it's on him cause they got one before him.
so he ain't bout to be complacent.. he going to go hard.

they haven't even begun to tinker with the lineup yet.. not quite yet. tonight was necessity.
but i still think mcgee is going to be a key cog. just be big.. run.. jump..challenge. he got dunked on tonight by wiggins something serious.. but id rather that than just let it happen otherwise what you even in the game for?

They lost because of Barnes period...and curry playing ass..not even mentioning the other stuff....

yea curry was ass but most of it was the offense was not being run correctly. when they run it correctly they get damn near identical points in the paint as they do from the 3.
they lost by 4 but took 40 3s and most of it including the last few possessions they played hero ball 1 on 1 when they CAN do that but it's not going to produce the best shot.

But that was because of Barnes. The Cavs trapped Curry and Klay forcing the one on one with Barnes who did nothing.

then barnes needs to make something happen. he doesn't HAVE to shoot lol. drive and kick back or drive and get the big an easy bucket. there are options other than just stand there and shoot.

Say Bills, other than MrJR and Dr Truth, who are the other GS fans? Can I get a list like The Watcher has?

He didn't do anything and that's the reason..but guess what no more Barnes...run the trap shit now and see what happens...

Those are the most vocal that you named lol.
Most of the dubs fans on here are lurkers and shit lol...like most of the dudes from the bay on here.
I'll compile a list tho let me go look at after we lost game 7 and see who abandoned ship lol

i mean yea that's over with but there's a long way to go. we gotta see what they decide they want to be first. how is their machine going to work.
From what I see so far they can get any shot they want; it's just a matter of getting what the feel is the best shot and converting; there really is no team right now that can stop them; i expect to see a different team after the all star break..this shit right now is just planning for the future....

Crossreference that list with known Lebron haters...lol...But seriously, remember when the Cavs were building the superteam? That's when lines were created.

Does it really matter and if it does why??

It's just something that Bills brought up when Lebron came back and Love signed back in 2014. This was before there was even the dominant Warriors. He told me to make a list. It's just funny how things work out.

i ain't worried bout offense. im talking defense lol

The year before the Cavs got desperate and tried it with Iggy and he burned the Cavs to an MVP performance. Iggy was like you gone leave me open? Shit, I will take these easy buckets and he did exactly what you decribed. He knocked down the open shot, drove to the basket and dished the rock.

I have no hard feeling for Barnes and hope the brotha does well. But it is funny to hear people say "Golden State gave up a lot for Durant, not realizing that Barnes would have been a max contract which would have meant Losing Bogot, Speights, and Barbosa anyway.

Also people keep talking about the defense. Warriors offense is number one and now they are top ten in defensive efficiency

oh yea that's why i asked you back then LOL

But also there were WAY MORE people invested in the warriors losing BOTH YEARS than the cavs losing. "I just want to see Lebron get one" is always the go to. and then there's "Why do you want to root for a black man to fail" like the warriors players ain't black themselves lol

And then especially when Steph got MVP's people been on his head with every little thing trying to shit on him and he ain't never done nothing lol
To the point where people talking bout the warriors dance too much like they never seen the cavs pregame and bench antics and shit WHICH IS COOL both ways imo.

The warriors didn't give up a lot for Durant.. They let Barnes max out somewhere else.. lost Ezili and Bogut..but guess what? There's a higher chance they'd lose them to INJURY ANYWAY even if they were on the roster. Kept Livingston and Iggy.
I like Mcgee over ezili actually
only thing I don't like is David West. I don't see him having a role on the team.. he's a little too bully.

Bro they not gonna play seriously or should I say, they not gonna commit to the defensive end until after the break..might as well accept it

yea but they're getting their concepts together now. im not looking for lights out just how they help and how they switch. tonight and last night it was beautiful.. just guide the person across the arc and then switch to pickup the guy moving in the opposite direction. very versatile for wing defense.

People just don't realize that Barnes would have been a max contact..lol So Ezili, Bogat, Barbosa, and Rush would have been gone.

I see why the players went so hard after KD. They knew what time it was. Thinking about it now I would have let Barnes walk. No way he would have put up 27 a game like Durant
