Official NBA 2016-2017 Thread - 30 teams, 1 goal. 2 weeks left, so much can happen!!

After watching the Kings Wolves game I am not so sold on Minnesota making the playoffs... I know the are the de facto team to make it in the West, but to me they are not the shoe in we thought they are. For one, they lack consistency and intensity, in this game for example the Kings literally folded the tents and tried to give them the game on a platter, but they just could not capitalize on them.. To me as helter skelter the offense looked at times at least they played with passion and intensity while the Wolves just looked laid back...
One problem I had with Wiggins is his consistency and his lack of intensity at times, if you look at that squad they have a bunch of laid back guys, maybe they are lacking that catalyst who can fire them up and perhaps they may be looking for a trade later on in the season for that vet presence that can help lead these young talented players..
Also they play too much iso-ball, it seems like every play they run is some kind of a curl or screen and roll off the dribble, they really need to learn how to move the ball around better...

they are still young man, it takes a while for these young guys to to have that killer instinct, cause they really should not be struggling with the kings. but hey its a young season.

My man if you want to have an heat discussion about sports specifically the NBA frame the question instead of looking for quote bait.. Until then move along

damn my dude is really on some peaceful shit...the old BDR woulda had my head on a platter for saying some shit like that :cool:

Andre Iguodala on Finals block: 'If J.R. is not there, I'm dunking it'
i

NEW ORLEANS -- It is now widely known as "The Block," and Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodalahas heard about it countless times.

"Believe me, I hear it all the time," he said in an interview centered on "The Block."

Working to bounce back from a 29-point loss to the Spurs on Tuesday, Kevin Durant held a solo shooting session Thursday while yelling out the criticisms that are usually directed at him.

The iconic scene took place at Oracle Arena in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliersand Warriors. The scoreboard read 89-89 with 4:39 remaining in the contest, and both teams would struggle on offense for the duration.

In the midst of that four-minute span of missed field goals and turnovers, it became apparent that whichever team scored first likely would exit the arena victorious. The Warriors were shut out, ending the game with 89 points, while the Cavaliers benefited from the heroics of Kyrie Irving, whose clutch, step-back 3-pointer over Stephen Currypropelled Cleveland to its first NBA championship.

However, before Irving's pivotal trey, the Warriors had what appeared to be a relatively favorable two-on-one fast-break opportunity with a little under two minutes to go that ended, for them, in disaster.

Curry and Iguodala had Cavs guardJ.R. Smith backpedaling. Curry dropped a bounce pass to Iguodala, who maneuvered around Smith for a layup attempt, when out of nowhere,LeBron James entered the picture and smacked the ball against the backboard for a memorable, momentum-changing chase-down block. That was the Warriors' best shot at scoring down the stretch.

James is the game's supreme shot-blocker in transition. When he's chasing an opposing player on the break, it's very seldom he doesn't come away with the block or get the player to reverse course and dribble away from the basket out of fear of his reach and athleticism. To have any chance at converting a fast break with James trailing, attempting a dunk would be the path to take.

New York Knicks. It was the first game of a TNT doubleheader on opening night.

The Warriors hosted the San Antonio Spurs in the second game. ESPN askedKlay Thompson if he watched the Cavaliers' ring ceremony to add fuel to his fire after the way last season ended and he said, "Hell nah."

Draymond Green didn't watch it either, saying, "I don't need to look at that to get me motivated."

The Warriors were later blown out that evening by 29.

That made it three straight losses at home dating back to the Finals. In the past two seasons, the Warriors lost only four regular-season games at home. One legendary play changed the fortunes of both teams.

But for a veteran like Iguodala, "The Block," he says, won't define his legacy. He's at peace with what occurred. Instead of sulking and overthinking what he could or should have done, he's giving credit where it's due.

"I looked back at it too, and had I came in from a different angle, I could have [dunked it]," he explained. "But you know who made the play? J.R. made the play. Because I came in thinking dunk and then I took off and he swiped [at the ball] and I had to move the ball. If you look, I moved the ball [to my right]. I just tried to finish the play.

"People don't realize, somebody just made a great play. There's nothing to change about somebody making a great play because I even thought I could have went off to the other side [of the rim], but [LeBron] was so high over the rim, he would have had both sides covered. I mean, I wouldn't have changed anything about it. If somebody just makes a great play, you just give them respect for making a great play."

Pels fall to 0-3 and AD had 18. I would guess that two nights of shouldering the scoring load probably took it's toll tonight. .

Put too much talent around AD and he'll start looking like Love on the Cavs.... or Bosh on Miami (during that "big 3 era")......or Howard on every team after Orlando. Not saying he's trash....but players like that stand out easily because the league has so many trashy/light in the ass Big Men. Put too many talented players around AD, then his paycheck will start to look as ridiculous as Conley's...imho.

League knew what they was doing with the first few games for OKC.

Philly, Lakers and Suns. Had to make sure Westbrook numbers wasn't in vain like Davis's

Somebody please ask @RoadRage, who swears he's never wrong and doesn't say crazy shit, why he said KD would only average 17 points per playing with GS:hmm:; like give his expert advice on why he said that and gave analysis behind it:smh:

I'll say that many folks thought Kerr was gonna place him into Harrison slot. Which means him getting great looks wide open looks but not nothing like what's going on.
Seem like KD is very connected to the offense scheme and is way ahead of MoufStayWideOpen and maybe even Klay.

Is Kerr doing this to get KD comfortable or this what we'll see all year....only time will tell

I want you to understand something; KD has the 3rd highest scoring average ever in the nba, ever!!!!i don't give a dam what offense or who he's playing with; no way in hell was he only gonna score 17;stop trying to cover for your boy..... :giggle:

WESTBROOK: 33pts/16asts/12rebs He's the 1st since Magic (1982-83) with two triple-doubles within his team's first 3 games of a season

working harder still have a lot to improve on defensively.
not even hitting the 3's at a high clip. shooting 27% on the season and that's def going to change.
10/16 from the field, 37 points.

No see, what you don't understand is KD IS PLAYING IN THE harrison slot. The offense is EXACTLY the same as it was. Harrison was just limited. He had free dribble drives. Free catch and shoots. He had easy high post and low post ups. He had the cuts to the basket and the lane wide open too.

Like i said when the ink was dry and ppl wondered if it would work because nobody is going to get their touches.
KD don't NEED 25 shots. Just don't need it. Nobody on the team NEEDS 25 shots but if someone is on fire they gonna get it.
16 shots tonight, 37 points.

:ssshhh:bro they not trying to hear that...

They still young, nothing else veteran teams make those same mistakes but it's just different.
Thats my exact point, and as long as they keep playing like a young team then playoffs is not a sure thing with them...

But even with these numbers they are almost averaging ten points less than last year even with this cream puff schedule (exept the Spurs who destroyed them)..
Last year they averaged 116 ppg but that number shot up to 125 vs the scrubs, but now they are going neck and neck with the same teams they used to blow out by 35 pts last season...

and ignore the fact that they haven't learned how to play together yet?
Last year, as I keep saying and you keep ignoring, is the 2nd year together. They went through an entire series and the playoffs learning everything there was to know. It was a machine. It was like riding a bike. That's why they were able to perform so well right out the gate from start to finish. Everything about it was fluid. The system itself, the players, how they fit, the rotations, down to the exact minute in every game they would come out and go in... 1st 3 off the bench and who would play extended garbage time minutes
EVERYTHING was decided. So you can survive that.
Like the Cavs right now... Lue could leave and the assistant could coach and they'd still have the same record. It's not because Lue is a bad coach it's because the cavs didn't change anything and right now everything is on auto pilot down to rotations and everything else.
The warriors have to figure that out.
So until you want to concede that point and not try to compare the 1st year of something with the 2nd year of something else...
good luck posting.
