Official NBA 2016-2017 Thread - 30 teams, 1 goal. 2 weeks left, so much can happen!!

Yea that what it seems like...shum have trade value...liggins can't grow as a defender giving time....that's a chance they willing to take if the right team come with a 1 rd protected draft pick
I think they may see something they like in Liggins, defensively, he is a freak of nature strait out of the Kawhi Leonard mold, being 6'6 with 6'11 wing span.. I know for a fact that the Cavs like those bigger versatile defenders who are able to guard multiple positions and I think its Liggins versatility that is intriguing them the most..
Shumpert has the potential of one day being a better over all player, but maybe not in the Cavs system, with all the player in front of him, while Liggins is more of a specialist who's role may fit them better, especially in the perimeter defense vs the shooters on the Warriors..
I doubt if any team will be silly enough to give up a first round for Shumpert, so I think its more about pure economics and choosing between Shumper vs both Liggins and perhaps MaRae, one a offensive specialist and the other a versatile defender who can defend the perimeter.
I know Shump is like family on that team, but one mistake championship teams often do is fall in love with roll players thus becoming stagnate, all champion teams need just the right amount of new blood to keep things fresh and new..

shump can score...LOL i used to think so...but honestly shump struggles on offense but he can make plays and his defense which is always good. but he has the most trade value between he and jones.

I wonder if they think that Liggins can do the same things he does at a cheaper price...

Don't sleep on the former D-League Defensive Player of the Year's inclusion in the final lineup. #DeAndreLiggins

Welcome To Opening Night

Cleveland Cavaliers are hanging a banner for the first time in franchise history -- but they're also looking to end a strange streak. They've lost their past five season openers with LeBron James in uniform. The last time James started 1-0 as a Cav was in 2006-07. Cleveland did go 3-1 in season openers in the four years James was in Miami.

  • The Golden State Warriors ripped off 24 consecutive wins to open last season en route to a single-season record 73 wins. After losing in the NBA Finals, they went out and added Kevin Durant, but they've been careful to say not to expect another record-breaking season in 2016-17.
  • The team trying to topple the Warriors is the San Antonio Spurs, who'll be opening the season without Tim Duncan on the roster for the first time since 1996. Back then Bob Hill was the Spurs coach and Dominique Wilkins was their future Hall of Famer wearing No. 21.
  • In the one game on opening night that isn't nationally televised, theUtah Jazz visit the Portland Trail Blazers. The Jazz are looking to end a four-year playoff drought, their longest since missing the postseason in their first nine years of existence.
Fun Times In Cleveland Again
With apologies to Elsa and Anna, Cleveland is the center of the sports universe for the first time in forever. Not only are the Cavaliers raising a banner -- the first the city has seen from a major sports franchise in 52 years -- but the Indians are opening the World Series right next door. Perhaps the most exciting place to be for a sports fan on Tuesday night will be the plaza that sits between Quicken Loans Arena and Progressive Field.

We All Scream For Ice Cream
What could make opening night in Cleveland better? How about free ice cream for everyone in Cleveland. That was the suggestion from James last week, and Blue Bunny is stepping up to the challenge, with a truck giving away free ice cream to fans.

The Undertaker Is In Cleveland
The Undertaker poses with Kevin Love at Quicken Loans Arena before the Knicks-Cavs game. Down 3-1 to the Warriors in the NBA Finals in June,LeBron James found inspiration from the legendary WWE star en route to an NBA title with Cleveland.

o hope the game plan for the knics is not to play pace

with derrick rose and noah?

they will break down before mid season

You know it's bad when 74 year old Richard Jefferson is hitting step back 3s, and Kevin Love out there giving motherfuckers that work! :D

Really? Seems their bench is weak, but I figured Melo and Rose would compliment each other pretty well!

Wonder how @shaddyvillethug is feeling about this... Only one game, but this is one really good, extended ass whipping the Cavs are giving these motherfuckers tho... :smh:
I just don't believe Noah and rose can hold up over the course of a season, especially with no bench

Different year, same story. Hero ball and no interior defense. I'll give the Knicks some "time to gel."

Knicks are just not deep enough, the Cavs are the type of team to wear you down if your thin because they never stop attacking.
