Netflix: Luke Cage Season 2 (Discussion Thread) - Spoilers Approved (Update Cancelled!!)

So I'm just going to say that... Simone Missick is my new it girl.

And "Shut-Up Black Mariah" is my new line.

Mine was, "Never backwards, always forward. Forward, always.",

"What kind of nigga are you?" "The kind that doesn't like to be called a nigga."

"Slavery was always a offer, to the master."

"Jesus saves, I don't."

I HATE to be the first guy to say this but...

What the f&ck is DC Warner Bros. thinking after watching that?

I ain't trying to start nothing but it's reached the point where I think DC isn't even CAPABLE of this level of creativity and thoughtfulness for its characters.

There is just too many.

They modernized 40 years of Marvel history quite nicely.
They took Black Mariah, Cottonmouth and Diamondback and made them more than one story arc knock offs.

They redid his backstory and gave him gave him an arch nemesis, which he truly never had. (I have a feeling that Diamondback will become Warhawk)

The MCU Luke Cage is way better and a upgrade from the comics.

I think he will become an updated Bushmaster. In the comics, John McIver, the first Bushmaster, forces Noah Burnstien to use the same process that gave Luke Cage his powers, only to a greater extent to make him even stronger.

I'm confused....so this is his story after meeting Jessica Jone???? How did he own that bar that if he's working two jobs what am I missing....Gottdammit I gotta go rewatch jessica Jones now....
His wife, Reva, bought the bar and left it to him (and the apartment above it). It was destroyed by Kilgrave in "Jessica Jones", hence his moving to Harlem. But it does leave other questions, such as, how did he have a motorcycle in JJ? I am now thinking that JJ takes place AFTER Luke Cage.

Haven't finished the series yet. And I go a LOT to say. I going to tamper those thoughts until I'm done.

But I will say this....

I sure as HELL hope that we start hearing Black artists/musicians do R&B/Soul instrumentals again. Much of the music on this show nearly has me to the point of crying.

Can't be.

Night nurse treated Cage for the brain hemmorage during JJ, even Black Mariah mentions JJ killing purple man.

I really hope they spend some money on special effects on season 2. We didn't really see his super strength. Bending rubber guns was nice but I want to see him throw a car or somthing

Real talk...

Every single woman on this show including mama mabel and theo's teacher can and would get it like Willis' mom on the desk...
You already know that this includes Connie the Chinese landlord as well as Claire's Moms who both looked decent for their age & would actually get it too.

 @ when Diamondback told him that he hated his Moms and how he said that she was a bitch
as well as the only white woman I remember was a stripper on some ATLANTA role reversal perspective for a change/JustinBeiber shit

Finished watching the series yesterday and I honestly can't think of a bad point. Everything was handled beautifully. The only downside is can think of isn't even against the show, it's against netflixs.

If I'm marathoning a show like 7 episodes in a row, then they need a algorithm to detect that is skip immediately to the next episode without going back to the opening title scene. And I liked the opening sequence, but by episode 3 I was like fuck this shit, just get to the damn show already. Unless you're going to go the Game of Thrones route and customize the opening each episode then I only ever need to see it once.

I will say that Marvel appears to only be doing this on Netflix.

Maybe D/C needs to hook up with Hulu and go the dark route.

Arrow started out with this level of creativity and thoughtfulness and then shit went full on Soap Opera.

Agreed

But Agents of SHIELD is on fire right now...pun intended

And I actually liked Agent Carter

And the MINUTE Marvel officially links them all to a film release?

:itsawrap:

Remember DC insists on keeping their universes separate. ..

with the current way dc movies has been received? maybe it's for the best.

Berlanti right now is king...I think the hulu idea isn't far off.

But I don't think anyone expected Marvel Netflix universe to be THIS good.

Things is D.C. has some great animated content, especially with animated movies and games. Marvel kills it with the MCU, cartoons and now their TV/Netflix shows. If D.C. can translate their animated content to the big screen they will be great. But they continue to do stupid shit with their DCMU. Smh

finally got to watch ep 4 the origin ep  and that opening montage for ep 5 is the best I've seen in recent memory...damn I got work to do tho I'm have to back off this ep and watch it tomorrow...shit...damn cottonmouth just literally shot mr. benign neglect :roflmao: I hate to have to stop watching this...damn
