Mike Coulter is basically Luke Cage.... he is perfect for it. I would love to see him cross over into other marvel properties.
Something tells me that this Judas bullet shit is going to be a game changer for further marvel series.
Almost at the end.... I'm loving how this show is almost exclusively us. I don't think I've seen this many minorities on a tv series in my life and definitely the most for a sci-fi/superhero series

Yep.. I was already thinking about S.H.I.E.L.D and using them against enhanced individuals... (Hulk, Cap, Thor, Inhmans..etc..)
Quentin can kick rocks on this one... this is the best thing marvel has put out in awhile. The soundtrack alone is worth the price of admission.

Is it me, or does this series go overboard with the NAME DROPS? I can understand for deposition and I thought it would be over by the first episode but here I am at episode 7 and they're still dropping names.. I mean WHO the HELL puts BIG L and ASAP ROCKY in the same sentence?

There's no direct connection to The Wire, however The Wire is "our show". Even though white people jumped on the bandwagon to say how great The Wire is, it's a well written show with predominantly black characters and stands out because of it. I think the Luke Cage writers/producers realize that if they can make this series a classic its going to stand out in the comic book genre the same way The Wire stands out in the drama genre.
i agree, Big L and ASAP should not be mentioned in the same breath. But the show is also paying homage to people from Harlem. The name dropping was actually pretty cool, because it fit in well with the discussions.

I get what he is saying...but what he wants would pigeonhole the character...the way it was done provides far more avenues to use the character...he is wrong on this one

i have not read anything in this thread. i just wanted to chip in that this is a VERY well done show. no corner cutting. it has its own unique vibe and is well executed from the camera work, to the acting, to writing and the action.

I think that because it's already guarantee the season, the writers can take their time and flush out the true definition of the character Luke Cage. Network TV shows don't have that option, and TV shows that start slow often don't make the 6th episode
The show was good. I'm halfway through the fourth episode I think. I was up until almost 5 o'clock in the morning Saturday night
I think the bar was in Reva's name. He has always been in hiding.
I also liked the change to Willis... they always grew up as boys but the added brother thing works better. The only issue is that if they were both from Georgia, what's the chance of them both being in Harlem at the same time.

Man....this is dope so far(only 2 episodes in). The acting, stylistically, the music.....I'm impressed.
