Black women and black people always accept a black man dating out, but black women are bed wenches. In many, not all cases, a lot of black leaders who advocate for black liberation want the freedom to do what they want with black women being an after thought, even if that's where all their support comes from. I thought it was understood black women that are anti-black men/people get the bedwench term. A black woman who doesn't bash black men, especially if they're vocal or active in regards to black issues, aren't deemed bedwenches.

The lack of support keeps many films from being made.
That is why Nat Turner is such a big deal. Because it got made.
The main reason films of certain subjects don't get made is because the investors won't make money on the project and with many subjects of interest black folks would need to be the driving force for that profit.
And there was early OSCAR talk but by trying to discredit him they are trying to get people to not support the film so that it is an artistic failure and also a financial failure.
So then they can say we told you so , nobody is interested in these types of movies which makes it difficult to get others made.

My brother did you miss my entire first post. I'm not here to talk about his personal life. I'm here because we are sharing dumb shit that shouldn't be relevant to a historic movie on the cusp of being released.
And articles on sites like Huffingtonpost get then of minions of views thats why it's relevant. Who you know and who I know is a smaller fraction then sites that get millions of views.

Whether or not Nate refuted that writer's claim is not proof that what he claimed is true. In that same paraphrased quote, Nate Parker did specifically address white folks role in all this, so where's the beef, bills?
Furthermore, even if he did actually say these things, it apparently would have been a thought shared in private. That the source didn't want to be identified would indicate that. So then what are we, the "thought police"?
And further, if he did question in a private conversation certain Black folks on social media's reaction, SO WHAT? Who in his situation wouldn't? Would he not want the support of his own people on something that he put all his blood, sweat and tears and money into - that was for US? We know the white man is on bullshit. But our support means so much more.
Nate never made a public statement throwing Black folks under the bus, Bro.
We might continue to disagree on this point. But I don't think some CAC writer's allegation of an allegation is enough to go on to be labeling Nate as a turncoat.
Keep in mind this is the same Nate Parker who made this Nat Turner movie.
Lastly, I want to say, that I don't know if Nate refuted that white Variety writer's claim.
However in Nate's Ebony interview he publicly said the opposite of what that white writer claimed:

I despise the term "negro bed wench". It's not based in any historical reality, it's one sided, it's often applied to any woman certain Brothas disagree with and it's anti-Black woman.

I agree that's what it is. But also I'm pretty sure that the white folks who blew this rape case (and his interracial marriage) up purposely, also knew which of Black folks' buttons to push - especially many of our less enlightened women.

I love Brother Belafonte and all the work he has done on our behalf that stretched beyond mere words as someone suggested earlier in this thread.
However, I believe that whom we court, date and marry should not contradict our socio-political and economic ideas particularly when those ideas are rooted in the liberation and decolonization of the Black Mind and Black Body. While I find it difficult to reconcile one claiming to love Black people while having a non Black mate, I don't find it difficult to recognize the work or words of those whom speak on our behalf and act on our behalf. Therefore, we too can like the work a person does and not like their choice in a mate because it represent a contradiction to that work.
