Official 2016-2017 Dallas Cowboys Thread

Dak looks good, it appears he locks into his player. This is fine in preseason but a problem if he ever has to step in for Romo.

I hope Linehan finds a way to get Butler involved, he's a good big threat that should beat 3rd and 4th string corners regularly.

Yeah he locks in......that will most def. be a problem once he starts playing against real defenses in the regular season BUT I think that comes with time in this league. He's gonna have his bumps and bruises. And I always liked his game. A potential dual threat quarterback, accurate, speed, solid arm, leadership skills......what was their not to like? But to have expect this......even if it is preseason......no one saw this and if anyone says they did is lying.

People will tel you "oh its just preseason" but I don't want to hear that shit because explain why Wentz, Goff and the rest of these dudes looking ass if its "just preseason"? There's something there with Dak.

I like what I'm seeing from the offense

Line looks good

Romo still healthy

Dez is back

Dak looks good hope he can keep developing and not forced into action

Alfred Morris is a good back we all knew this clearly he has had some big games against us in the past

Butler at WR could be a nice option along with what we have maybe even push Terrence Williams out the way

I'm still very worried about that defense tho

Wikcox and Carr still suspect no pass rushers

Wilcox should be the backup but she he's in danger of not making the team. I think its gonna be Byron and Church at safety.

I will say this for those that worry about the defense. Chances are it won't be great. It won't put up great stats. Shit probably will be inconsistent. But has this defense EVER been as bad as we expected it to be? Maranelli has gotten the best out of his unit. Not saying they will be great but they gonna be good enough to win. Its just gonna come down to if this defense can be opprotunistic and make some plays. Start stripping the football again and getting some fumbles because I dont' know if the pick's are gonna be there.

I also want to say that I know its just preseason but man am I the only one that use to wish for us to just kill it at least ONCE in preseason lol. Like it seems like recently or hell for as long as I can remember we stay either losing or not moving the football. Its a nice change.

In regards to Butler, he definitely could be an option but we tend to not know how to get other receivers (except Beasley) involved. I'm still upset we let Harris go to the Gnats.

The reason why I'm not hopeful about this season is the status of our two starting D-ends and Ro Mac. As you mentioned, our secondary sucks, it sucked last year with Lawrence, Hardy, and Gregory, now they have no pass rush. If we're in the playoff hunt in week 11, Romo has to be the MVP.

Since Garrett has taken over the defense has never been higher than 13th in the NFL and typically ranked in the 20s or lower

Suspect suspect suspect

All the money was used for the offense tho like 70% of the cap is being used by the offense so they better ball out

Defense has to create turnovers and I don't want to see Wilcox on the field ever

The defense has never sucked though. Even the secondary last year. It wasn't terrible. Brandon Carr showed his ass and them safeties were lost but it wasn't terrible last year. Limit teams to around 22-24 points a game and we gonna be alright. Then again the defense could get worse.

But I can't help but remember all them games we lost last year by 1 point and shit. How did we lose to them funky ass Bucc's? 6 to 7 or some shit?

Well that's what I said man they not gonan be ranked very good. They not gonna get "stats". But those games last year? We were 4-12 last year.

We lost to the Buccaneers 6 to 10.....lost to the Seahawks 13-12....lost to the Jets 19-16....lost to the Bills 16-6. That's 4 games right there that should've been wins. We not gonna be the Panthers or Seahawks. We just don't have the personal. But this defense isn't gonna lose us game. We control the clock with the run game and the defense will be good enough to not get in our offense way. Defense wasn't great last year but the unit that was ass was that offense last year.

What games did ya'll watch?

@:20 and @:55 are clear examples of the opposite. You can see clear examples from the first game too. Locking on the WR is not bad when throwing back shoulder fades, screens, quick slants, waggles, etc. Fakes don't work unless you execute on the thing you will use as a fake. Dak got DBs guessing because he knows when to look off WRs and when not to. The young man reminds me of McNair, he has the poised of a 3 year probowl starter. I still cannot believe so called scouts questioned his arm strength. Dak dropped a dime on the money on a ball that traveled 65 yards in the air. Damn!

They had to find something to nitpick despite him proving his worth in college

And that throw eliminated concerns over arm strength as far as I'm concerned and I still don't want him to play for hopefully 2 seasons

Fully groom this dude we might have something here

Either way if Romo goes down I'm more confident in him than any other CAC backups we have had or could bring in

He brings a different element....melanin

The numbers are deceiving, the problem is we lack impact players on defense aside from Lee, Ro (when in game conditio ) and Hitchens. When we need a stop the defense can't get it. In 2015 our DL and LB group almost had the same amount of INTs as our secondary, matter of fact, if you exclude the picks from backups like Mitchell and Olatoye than the the groups are tied which is pathetic.

The fact is Carr and Claiborne can not stop a completion, the only person that could stop a completion is a QB throwing a shitty pass. We make every backup that starts against us look like Dan Marino, Colt fucking McCoy looked like a legit QB against us.

This is a dream come true and it worked wonders for Rodgers. I agree, I am sick and tired of cac rejects at QB that have been stealing money while hiding on NFL rosters.

I must be bugging because in that exact clip you showed he was locking in on guys. Which is ok. He's a rookie. You just need to show us you can manage a game and play smart. All that other stuff will come with time.

You can't get turnovers without w consistent pass rush. This defense won't be great but it won't be terrible. The best you can hope for is them being a opportunistic defense that generates turnovers by strips and hopping on loose balls.

Part of the problem with our corners is how we play. They play 10 yards off receivers and Maranelli wants that bend don't break shit. How you are suppose to generate turnovers playing 10 yards off receivers and no pass rush is a mystery.

You are fam, watch his head. It really is obvious. Didn't you find it strange that on his deep throws that coverage seems always late? Look at the TD to Dez, safety is not sure if he is staring or looking him off, he was hella late. He is very good at looking off coverage. Now in the preseason no one is game planning him yet but I don't think that will be a problem either. The bonus is keeping the cacs like weeden, cassel, moore, and what other castoff trash off of the squad.

I wish we could have Wade Phillips back

Let him be DC

Fuck Mareneli honestly I was never fully on that wagon but I don't want to hear shit else about that mufucka

Yeah that would have been a good idea.

But honestly, use some of that Romo money on D

Get Romo out of here

I've seen enough of Dak to know we can win with him if we improve our defense

He will continue to improve

We got him on 4th round pick money for 4 years

That's how Seattle was about to build their defense they had a good young cheap QB for years and spent assets on defense

Apparently Romo was throwing before the game. Fuck that.

He sees the writing on the wall.
