Who do you suspect is the Rap version of Milli Vanilli?

Think you guys are missing the point on this, OP included. Milli Vanilli weren't accused of not writing, they were accused of claiming another person's voice.

These two muthafuckas from the Black Eyed Peas ON THE RIGHT:

Shit, the whole group. Especially Fergie since she wasn't apart of the original group an added by record execs.

Naw, I don't think he was going there. OP said who most "manufactured". But using Milli Vanilli as the example in the title made it a bit confusing.

how the fuck I miss the point when I started the thread...

I wrote what I meant...Milli Vanilli was a MANUFACTURED GROUP.

Milli Vanilli was a RnB pop and dance project created by Frank Farian in Munich, Germany, in 1988.

When Frank Farian developed the concept of Milli Vanilli, he chose to feature vocals by Charles Shaw, John Davis, Brad Howell, and twin sisters Jodie and Linda Rocco; however, he felt that those singers lacked a marketable image. He then recruited Robert Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan, two younger model/dancers he found singing in a Munich club for a rehearsal. He felt that Pilatus and Morvan could provide the marketable image that the original singers lacked.

that group was totally someone else's concept..

Now in terms of hip hop what I meant was what rapper, duo, or group was manufactured in a similar fashion..but that doesn't mean lip syncing since its crucial that a rapper doesn't do that..

BUT the concept of the group or rapper could be someone elses, the writing could be one or several ghost writers..essentially the rapper HIMSELF or HERSELF is just the marketing model and not organic at all.. They have the LOOK and voice but the concept of who they are and the lyrics came from other people...

or is that even possible to do in rap music?

its not because eventually a person will have to produce a freestyle somewhere. Now if you're talking about their image, that's another thing.

not necessarily..alot of rappers kick writtens and try to pass that off as freestyle. Also the subsequent generations after the 80s don't hold rappers to high criteria in terms of skills or showmanship anymore.

wasn't jay z exposed for biting biggie line for line...why didn't that effect his career?
Jay-Z did songs with Biggie where he held his own. Big was his friend so quoting him was more of a big up. Snoop Dogg admitted Jay-Z wrote the whole Still DRE including his verse. Even the DOC couldn’t write a song they felt was a hit.
