Durant signs with Warriors

Durant said fuck it, if I can't beat them, join them

Imagine Isiah saying fuck it, let me go to La or Boston
Imagine Jordan saying fuck it, I can't beat Detroit, let me go to the Lakers
Patrick Ewing didn't say fuck it, I want to go Chicago

You getting a game within the finals should make you work harder to get back.

These players today are built different.

It's like all these high school kids who want to go to dook or Kensucky. They don't want to earn shit. They want it to be given to them.

There's nothing wrong with being Charles Barkley, Elgin Baylor, Patrick Ewing, or that big country bamma. They're still going to be remembered. A ring doesn't make you.
You have a good point

I watched the Marilyn Monroe story the other day.
Back then, if you signed with a studio, you had to work for them. They give you a script and you do it.
Just like that changed, so have sports.
Watched the Dr J story recently.
First contract out of college: 4 years 125,000.00.
Imagine that shit.
They didn't even televise those ABA games.
The man was Jordan before Jordan.
The man carried the league.
He doesn't even get talked about as an all time great.

Shit changes. Usually for the better.
I know you get it.
We are just processing it together on BGOL

I need the names of everyone who gave LeBron shit but are in here coppin pleas for Durant.
They won't do it

I'm not mad at Durant at all
I'm here in Miami
I saw the hell LeBron caught
I don't wish that on anybody

This shit was out of bounds most of the time
They went as far as to make up stories. Literally.
People have made careers off of hating LeBron

At the end of the day, it's just basketball.
A game.

looks like Duncan is gonna retire, but not yet confirmed. Pau Gasol is a solid replacement in addition to Aldridge.

it's on CNN

All these ex Laker "diehards" bandwagoners and cakeboys now.
You can't argue with Kobe fans
They aren't real basketball fans

If Kobe is a favorite player there is nothing wrong with that
But Kobe fans said he is better than Jordan
Greatest all time
Better than Magic
He is a warrior, killer instinct, clutch, work ethic
Things that just aren't even close to true

They lack any form of objectivity

Even worse, they have to degrade other great players to maintain this fallacy.

The only reason Kobe even came up in this thread is because Kobe fans are exaggerating his situation to denigrate Durant

Durants story is still writing itself
We shall see how things pan out

Curry's history is pretty much the best shooter in NBA history.

That's not going to change either way.

He's come up too smedium to be put in the elite point guard conversation and because he doesn't play a traditional playmaking game.
I agree with this

I don't get it though
Curry seems smarter than that to me

Crazy as it sounds, I don't think Curry has peaked yet

What the fuck are you talking about?

I think SAS is gonna try to be to KD what skip was to LBJ...just loudmouth theatrics but it seems like it's gonna be more personal w/ SAS
That would be weak as fuck
The dude is young enough to be his son
At the end of the day
No matter what I want to say about any of these players
They have earned what they are getting through a lot of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice.
No matter what I even say about Kobe, the man is doing better than I am in life.
Cuban breaks the troll patrol shit down real nicely here:

And to think people have the nerve to repeat the shit these people say like it's fact.

Are you comparing a movie studio to sports? If you sign a contract with certain companies and have a certain job you have non compete causes. You often have to do jobs or things or work overtime that's not listed.

What was the average salary compared to Dr J's salary? How much do college players get paid?

Doctor J isn't mentioned? Didn't you just say you watched his story?

There's a reason that the government is supposed to regulate against monopolies. Why is that?

Do you want that in sports? What's the reasons for the fans to watch? Do you like watching movies in which someone spoils the end for you?

I was probably all over the place in making my point

What I don't like about this bullshit.

Durant knew he wanted to dip, cool.

1. Durant left OKC without any compensation for his departing talent.
2. Durant knew he was leaving and let OKC make moves to keep him. (Trade away Ibaka)
3. Durant knew he was leaving and waited til all the quality free agent had signed with any teams.

Durant was out to fuck the Thunder.
He left Westbrook high and dry.

Any championship will come with an asterisk.
If the don't win then he will be ripped hard as hell.

I don't get the attempt to win like this

You win, and people are going to be like, big deal, well you were supposed to win.

You lose and they laugh at you.

It's like beating someone who you already know isn't as good as you. Unless you're just a poor winner, you win and the feeling is underwhelming.

Part of winning is the journey getting there.

You can make the argument that he was already playing for the Warriors after game 5 in the G.S. series...

Lol @ you.

KD left a team that SHOULDVE beaten GS, and went to GS, who had the winningest season in NBA history AND the only unanimous MVP, and THREE ALL-STARS already.

To compare this with Lebron in any way is just asinine. This is the ultimate in sucker shit and if they dont win I don't wanna hear shit from nobody about nothing.

Like I stated earlier it would be like Curry jumping ship to join the Cavs...

They both hoe ass moves can't tell me nothing different

But what KD did is worse

By a significant enough margin to say it stands on its own

What do you mean the opportunity was not there before?

Kobe, A.I., Duncan .... all the stars who came in in the late-90s could have done the SAME THING. They didn't. Its like a video game having difficulty levels, bro'. Some people don't have a problem winning with the game on easy. People who think like they do will obviously not have an issue with it. Just teaming up with the best superstars you can at that time does not make you a great winner.

This, to me, is a weak move.

But, like I said, I accept the reality that other people don't care how a ring is won as long as its won.
The CBA and salary cap situation has never been like this before. Also, those aforementioned players are considered part of the previous generation of players who played in the shadow of Jordan. The players today? Different mentality. None of them want to go out like Barkley without a chip. None of them want to be pimped like Pippen was who never got the bread he deserved until he left Chicago. The 2016 NBA means you can get a ring and get paid. How could you blame anyone for wanting both?

Lebron set the mold. The Cavs won't surround me with talent? I'm out. I'm getting two rings. He uses the terms of the CBA and goes back to the Cavs. Believes in himself and signs a contract that gives him all the leverage. And then goes out and gets a ring, while getting paid. If you're Durant, you'd be insane not to follow a similar path. Instead of criticizing him, point a finger at OKC.

A small market team has Durant, Westbrook, Harden, and Ibaka (when he was good). They make it to the Finals. They lose. Because they DON'T want to pay the luxury tax, they trade their 3rd best player for a bag of beans the next fucking season. Knowing the window of opportunity to win a ring is typically short, they valued money over winning. Fuck them. Their loss. I don't feel sorry for them at all. They had their shot. They had different priorities.

i cant understand this ring shit.

I can understand that a quality player like Barkley may immediately suffer financially without a ring (i.e. lost endorsements), but how does shitty players like Norris Cole and Mo Williams benefit from having a ring?

Besides, Barkley made it up in the long run by being a commentator and getting stupid endorsements (e.g. Taco Bell).

wtf you think the purpose of the luxury tax is for?

A punitive measure set up by the league in an attempt to level the playing field for big and small market teams. The reality is it's a measure to protect the owners from themselves. Half of the CBA rules are to protect the owners from themselves. The Allan Houston rule is a prime example.

Hard to wrap your mind around the idea of "small market" teams, when the owners are all billionaires. :hmm:

Wait… I just saw who you are… fuck. Why did I even bother replying… :smh:
