Charles Barkley: LeBron James will never be a top-five NBA great

Man lets really look at this.

Barkley played I the NBA was great..
A Top tier great player at some where.
Lebron is a top tier great player who's still playing.

So if he don't get to top 5 in your mind, that still means he's better than you in your mind.

And I'm a Barkley fan....smh

Oscar is not top 5 overall Bruh. He was a statistical beast no doubt, but his intangibles were lacking! What team did he carry to anything? What franchise did he improve? He was good in the context of his day but Top 5?!?! Nah...

Look, you can averaged a tripple double and be slightly above average, say you average 10pts, 10 rebounds and ten assist, shit that would make you five assist better and five points worse than Kevin Love....
So yes averaging a triple double for a season let alone three is unique and very unusual, its not the same as winning MVP's and winning championships. alone...

Not saying at all he was a bum, I'm saying his game was 85% on one side of the floor... All you can do is talk about him based on offense. A player like that doesn't really warrant a lot of back and forth in a comparison with a player as complete as LeBron James. Barkley isn't even close to his level.... no matter how much 'housing' he was doing... He was a one dimensional player along the lines of Melo and such...

How many finals did he play in prior to Kareem? What was the furthest he got in the playoffs without Kareem? As I said before, he was a beast statistically, he just lacked a lot of intangibles others I would put in the top 5 have. He is definitely not over LeBron, MJ, Kareem Russell, or Wilt.

again. 1 man is not a team. and in his era it was arguably way harder as there were less teams and way more stacked talented teams across the board.
like i said you cannot even name 1 great player he played with outside of kareem for the duration of his career without google.

you don't have to google to find out who the great players of his era played with because they all played together.

See thats the thing; most players are 85% one side of the floor; KD and Westbrook arent great defensive players; neither was Paul Pierce or Ray Allen; or Magic or Isiah; etc etc etc; so that argument really doesnt hold weight; King T feels like MJ wasnt great defensively but yet MJ has a DPOY and 8 times all defense; Well if MJ isnt great then LBJ surely isnt even in a topic of discussion on the defensive side of the ball:hmm:...

My point is, Barkley doesn't warrant being in a discussion concerning LeBron, because between the two of them, he was embarrassingly deficient on the defensive end, and the areas where he was more dominant than LeBron don't come close to outweighing the areas LeBron is more dominant than him...

Duncan
Jordan
Magic
Kareem
Bill
Shaq
Hakeem

Lebron is great, but he has been known to defer to lesser players often, and it's cost him games.
