I'm Not a Bum, I'm a Human Being

Peace to homie though. I don't know how, when, or where he or life went wrong for him, but poverty is some tragic shit. It will be dope if he is able to build himself out of this position. He's still alive so there is hope.

Marlon Waynes should do this brother's story. I kinda saw a resemblance in movements from Marlon's previous roles.

Dope post.

It was apparently posted on YouTube three years ago but it's getting lot of hits.

I'm wondering what the brother's status is today.

Reality is a mofo.

I was at a food truck festival in downtown Greensboro last weekend. There were so much food and over 7 thousand people there. All I could think about was "wow, there is so much food here. We are celebrating eating, but there are people in the world starving." I was looking at all these people that was blindlessly happy about this festival. Even folks there that was obese, others with diabetes or heart disease. Most probably haven't did that much walking in years. People halfway finishing their food while going to truck to truck wasting more food than some may even eat in a week or weeks. Not to mention, it was downtown where there was probably someone like that brother in the video standing from the outside looking in like a caged animal that wants food knowing he can't have it. And we celebrating a got damn food truck festival.

Again reality is a mofo. I'm just thinking about all the happy faces at that food festival and then you see this video of this brother.

Word. Hopefully he's doing better. People forget that we are humans and all fall short. It's easy to forget that at times because we have our own shit going on.

The good thing is that he can change his situation. He just needs to find what it'll take to get there.

Yeah that's some real shit. You have a group about to die from an abundance of food, and then you have a group starving to death...

I hear you man. We have to be realistic. The bible says, Jesus said, "the poor will always be with us".

While we should help this brother on an individual basis and/or on a organizational level, you have to know there will always be poor homeless hungry people.

With that in mind enjoy the food festivals and when you pass someone needing a handout give them a hand.

I understand that fully. I did enjoy the festival.

I guess, I don't like seeing blind happiness. I want people to suffer a little when I'm around. We are so prone to live in such delusion that I have accepted that I am a consciously aware person when it comes to the world. But living in such a dark reality kinda outcast me from society or at least the average person within society. While I am needed, people sometimes are intimidated by me. If given the chance to get on a bull horn to say what I posted earlier at that festival, I would have done it. And I would have loved very moment of it.

that was some deep shit!

i'm not in areas where panhandlers are very often but i'll often slip them a dollar when i see one.

i like when he said a passerby dogged him and called him a bum and came back and apologized and broke him off a 30 piece.

Yup. Many of us are so caught up in our own reality, we treat others like they shouldnt exist in it. At least that person was aware enough to realize what he/she did.

If a dog or a horse was in the street starving there'd be PETA types pouring over him/her.

there's one dude that has been hangin outside my building for the past 3 years....same ole story bout how he's hungry and if anyone can spare a dollar.
always has on clean kicks.....different clothes each day.....not ironed,....but still a fresh set of clothes. and no matter how many dollars people give him,...
the cac still doesnt go into any of the eating establishments or the 7-11 to get anything to eat. i once watched him pull about $60 out and count it...he thought
i wasnt lookin.
and when i went passed him.....he asked if i could spare a dollar so he could get something to eat. man i snapped on that mufucka so hard. he doesnt even beg in
front of my building anymore. you have some people that are really in need and really hungry and helpless. then you have muthafuckas like that, who just make
it their daily business to feed of the guilt of others to fatten their pockets. thats why when i come across people asking me for change because they're hungry....i
tell them to empty their pockets. if they refuse,.....then you know they have stacked up quite a bit of money and they are only out there to get over on people.

We see them all the time bro. Cat was trying "bum" money from my cuz and me at Burger King recently so he could get a burger. My cuz offered him an extra burger he had, still unwrapped. The homeless guy said "nah" and showed his dinosaur roll of cash and walked away.

Afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted.

If you're enjoying food truck festivals as others suffer from hunger, can you be a good person?

Honestly, we choose for people to be poor today. It doesn't have to be that way.

See "How should homelessness be addressed? And is private charity effective?"

I've stayed and worked in a shelter for a few months, its a hustle, you can't feel sorry for these cats man many are ex cons who don't give a fuck. It was just like prison niggas was hustling everything from clothes to drugs out of the shelter and I'm talking about the staff.

I work right around the corner from there.... see different cats out there all the time..The struggle is real. I hope it works out for ole boy

what ever happen to that homeless black man with the deep bass voice?
The radio voice cat?? They said he relapsed a couple times but I think he was on the right track was the last I saw about him online... golden voice I think us his claim to fame

Hmm, this thread has provoked a lot of deep thought. Love the responses. Just remember though, poverty has always been by design.

I have to go help some of these cats in my city... get them on google voice at least or maybe magic jack since I sawa they have a $10/yr setup now

just found the follow up:

Keep it going. Excellent thread! Curious to know how the brother doing, especially with him getting job. I like helping but it's really hard to discern who genuinely needs help and are determined to change their lives around from the ones who just hustle everyday.

Dude came from an upper class family. They cut him off after years and years of helping, praying, rehabs. Appears they love him ,but he's doing what he loves to do!

They are sending people to the moon and multi millionaires are taking vacations in outer space. We are robbing other countries not for us but for the elite and the 10 percent.
We actually went into Libya to kill a man that had no homeless in his country and no one was even in poverty. Our tax dollars paid for his death and the death of the genocide of blacks in that country.
Jonestown opened my eyes to a lot of things we were born in without knowing it. Living for the benefit of one person and the superiority of everybody that is like him.

I understand the compassion some you have for the homeless and poor but you can't feel that way for all of them. A lot of them were up to bullshit that put them in the predicament they're presently in.
