GOTHAM: New 'young' Batman - themed series on FOX

Mr. Bean isn't really that threatening. I'm having a hard time taking this guy seriously.

Mr. Freeze was cool though in the last episode.

Looking forward to the fall out of Bruce learning who the Philosopher is.

They figured out,who the Philosopher was in the last episode....It was Dr.Strange

When Fish Mooney Will Return To Gotham

One good turn deserves another over on Gotham, and honestly, it doesn’t matter how good that turn really was. One of Season 1’s more polarizing characters was Jada Pinkett Smith’s crime boss Fish Mooney, who was killed off very late in the game. Season 2 introduced Hugo Strange, whose recent claim to fame has been resurrecting the dead with new personalities and the return of Fish Mooney is coming soon. We’re finally going to see her again on the penultimate of Season 2, “A Legion of Horribles,” and she’s not the only familiar face coming back.

Thanks to the newly released episode synopsis, we know that Hugo Strange does indeed bring Fish Mooney back to life for the episode that will air on Monday, May 16. No sign is given of whether or not she’ll be a different person when she comes back, similar to Theo Galavan turning into Azrael. Doc Strange was talking someMad Hatter language last week, which could be a sign of what’s to come for Fish, or maybe she’ll have a personality tied to her wild eye gouging.

It’s unclear at this point if Jada Pinkett Smith is going to be in both “A Legion of Horribles” and then the season finale, or if this is a one-time reprisal. More of Strange’s twisted reanimated criminals are coming in this episode, and I can’t imagine the last episode will scale it back on creating a wall of threats for Gordon and the depleted GCPD to deal with. Some will definitely die, but we’ll just have to wait and see who that’ll be.

Also listed in the guest cast is Michelle Veintimilla, who played Bridgit Pike, also known (for a brief time) as Firefly, because of her…fire. She was taken to the Indian Hills facility after her big showdown with police, so we knew she would be making a comeback at some point. Also listed is Brian McManamon, who was cast a couple of months ago as Clayface. Or Basil Karlo, if we’re being technical. I cannot wait to see if Strange’s science can actually turn a human being into a self-molding clay blob. Still no Jerome yet, but we’re patiently waiting.

Here’s the episode’s full synopsis.

Hugo Strange welcomes a familiar face to Gotham after he resurrects Fish Mooney in Indian Hill. Later, Bruce discovers a friend is in danger and teams up with Gordon, Alfred and Lucius, while uncovering more of Strange's experiments in the all-new "Wrath of the Villains: A Legion of Horribles" episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, May 16.

This show is frustrating is what it is...

sometimes I'm like this is CRAZY GOOD...like an updated version of Batman '66

and sometimes...its just bad TV.

And the more I watch I think that is EXACTLY what the showrunner is going for.

I may not agree but damnit if more often them not?

I am freaking entertained.

I STILL wish someone would take the material seriously and do Gotham Central.

I'm glad I caught up on this show. I slept on it but it's much better than I thought it would be.

I am – Hercules!!

Originally depicted in 1944’s All-American Comics #61 as an enemy of Alan Scott, DC Comics’ first Green Lantern, Solomon Grundy went on to battle Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and any number of other DC heroes.

Grundy’s origins are similar to those of DC’s more heroic Swamp Thing, who did not happen along until the 1970s. Like Swamp Thing, Grundy began life as a man but died violently in a swamp, only to be resurrected with key body parts replaced with “swamp matter” – decaying leaves, branches, moss and fauna.

In James Robinson’s brilliant 1990s Starman comic we learned that Grundy comes back differently every time he is “killed.” A surprisingly benign iteration of Grundy befriended at least two iterations of Starman; this Grundy ended up sacrificing his life to save Starman Jack Knight’s life.

Cyrus Gold, who morphed into the print version of Grundy, appeared in three season-two episodes of “Arrow.”

I sense we’ve already glimpsed The Court of Owls, the Tweedle Bros., Clayface, Killer Croc and The Mad Hatter in and out of Dr. Strange’s basement this season, and series writer-producer John Stephens says we’ll be seeing them next season.

EXCLUSIVE: WHICH VILLAINS CAN WE EXPECT FOR "GOTHAM" SEASON 3?

In an interview with CBR News about what viewers can expect in "Gotham" Season 3, executive producer John Stephens revealed some key villains that are on the way to the series.

"We'll be seeing Mad Hatter in Season 3. We'll be seeing the Tweedle Brothers, too, if we're going to bring the Hatter in. In line with the Court of Owls, we'll be seeing Talon. And, we should be seeing Solomon Grundy," Stephens told CBR during a discussion of the Season 2 finale.

Stephens previously hinted at the perpetually-rhyming Mad Hatter (a.k.a. Dr. Jervis Tetch) for Season 2, in addition to Clayface, who'll be causing trouble in tonight's season finale, but it looks as though they ultimately chose to hold off on the character for the upcoming Season 3 instead. Tetch is a scientist that uses his own mind-control control technology to control the minds of his victims. Though based on a children's book character, the character is sometimes portrayed as being severely mentally ill, with an underlying darkness to him.

As for Solomon Grundy, viewers speculated he cameoed in the "Unleashed" episode of Season 2 from a couple weeks back as the unidentified hulking, and grunting, prisoner at Indian Hill (though we also speculated that it could have been Killer Croc). The zombified villain has made countless appearances in animated DC adaptations, in addition to "Smallville" and "Arrow." A surprisingly old character -- having debuted in 1944 -- Grundy is the corpse of a merchant that was reanimated as a large zombie-like abomination. Aside from his super-strength, it's suggested in the comics that he is indestructible and immortal.

The "Alice in Wonderland"-themed Tweedle Brothers have yet to be teased on the series, but it's easy picturing them as a one-off villains-of-the-week in Season 3. The criminal twins have been known to team-up with Mad Hatter, in addition to the Joker. Though they don't tend to have super-powers beyond heightened strength, Tweedledum and Tweedledee headed their own "Wonderland Gang" of thugs using Tetch's mind-control technology in the comics.

Perhaps the most interesting on the list is Talon, who -- as Stephens referenced -- is a fairly new creation, from Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's 2011 "Court of Owls" storyline. Talon (a.k.a. William Cobb) is a highly-skilled assassin that was sent to assassinate Batman on behalf of the Court. He went on to star in his own series by Snyder, James T Tynion IV and Guillem March. Stephens has suggested that the Court of Owls will be playing a major role in Season 3.

The "Gotham" Season 2 finale airs Monday at 8/7c, and returns for a new season this fall, on FOX.
