BGOL review .. BATMAN V SUPERMAN... (thoughts, summary, spoilers)

Peace,

As soon as I saw that Batman was carrying guns, I lost interest.

Man I'm glad that I wasn't the only one that couldn't get over this... This to me was even more egregious then superman killing zod. Batman fucking firing guns and straight up murdering people left and right. It was a great fight but completely out of character for batman. You can't just go... Oh this is a older batman who is more brutal without some kind of explanation.

Those aren't guns as much as they are grenade launchers. They don't shoot bullets, but gas or explosives.
He was shooting guns all over this movie. He fucking shot dudes gas tank and murdered him toward the end. He was shooting guns in the dream sequence and I'm almost 100 percent sure he fired a gun in the warehouse fight.

Im just going to make up my own headcanon and say this was sort of an"Elseworlds" story..:dunno:

Couldve at least had a end credit scene where the Trinity(or at least Batman and WW) meet up somewhere, then after they talk for a bit,Superman shows up,Batman and WW are like  then one of them says something like"those other 3 metahumans..we've got to find them.."

"..and then..?"

"..Then we try and persuade them to join..our little team.."

*end scene*

Henry Cavil is just a bad actor, he hurts the Zack-verse with his autistic performance. Super-rain man. If they cut 30-40 minutes out and focus on Batman it's good film

This was probably the worst movie that I've ever seen and I paid money to watch Waterworld and Epic Movie. I'm so angry over this fucking waste of shit. I swear to god I'll argue anyone down that comes in here saying that this movie was good. Batman had fucking 4 dream sequences... You can make an argument that he had 5... Wtf

Damn it's not that bad ....Waterworld is a guilty pleasure of mine

I just ignored the dreams ...like I do my girls requests

he came off like THE RIDDLER / JOKER to me.

Agreed ...he'd be a great Riddler

seen it. it was ...ok. idk man, it didn't pull me in. i like jeremy irons and ben chemistry. i like wonder woman. her reference was cool to me. it hints at her upcoming movie. the JLA cameos were weak. i thought they would of went with this type of ending for a JLA movie pt 1

This is the problem with the movie. I've seen Henry act in Tudos. I actually liked his performance in man of steel. But they needed a man of steel 2 before coming out with this movie. The first movie talked about this new version of krypton and this guy discovering who he was... But they needed a second movie to flesh out the character of Clark Kent. You don't know who the fuck Clark is and these bitches have already killed him.

Go back and look at the 1980 superman movie. Christopher reeve was a little stiff there... Mainly because of the Clark Kent build up and they used the second movie to develop superman more.

They should have used man of steel 2 to do the reverse and show more of Clark the investigator. In this movie he has only been with the planet for 18 months. I'm surprised perry didn't just fire him for always disappearing. This movie just tried to do way to much... And they can't reboot superman with another guy now. Sadly Zach Snyder fucked it up.

Just got back. It wasn't as bad as people made it seem they were trying to fit too much into one movie and it really didn't start coming together till towards the end. Jesse Henizburg was absolutely horrible. The way they showed the Justice League was weak, but the Flash didn't look as bad as thought he would. I give a C+ as well.

Jesse is a smartass in real life and damn near brilliant with his delivery. I hate this version of Lex but I get it, I know they went the Social Network route, they were trying to make this Lex the equivalent of the manipulative asshole, brilliant know-it-all little shits that run the world today.

Think of Facebook folks - the cyber nerds and spineless bullies that operate and challenge the big guys from behind their computer screen, the Steve Jobs and the Sean Parker or a younger Trump with the bad hair. I get it. He was WAY over the top and a nerd and a manchild with temperament issues. That's all we see on TV and the interwebs now.

I thought this was a hint to Bats being controlled or manipulated by Darkseid. I could be wrong tho.

Ive seen it before, in movies and in the comics and at this point - some off the main players he might not kill as fast but the local yahoos are going to get it. Ready to argue?
Jesse was ok until he went crazy. They wasted lex. He is no longer a threat for any other movies. They blew it. What was his end game on this? This isn't the lex that I know. Now he has no money, no power, and he blew his I know your secret identity card. Plus... Since he is Alive... Why doesn't lex just spill the beans that Clark Kent was superman? What is the harm now..... Hell he knows the identities of all the future justice league members.

What was batmans random desert flashback about? I'm mean they completely dropped that. All that shit about Louis was the key.... Never mentioned again. Why was their 5 fucking dream sequences.... Ughhhhh I haven't been this angry at a movie in my life. I really wanted this to be better.

Fucking Clark Kent can never go back to the daily planet. That's over... He was only there 18 months. So I guess it wasn't a big deal. Ughhhh this fucking movie man...
when he first went into zods ship, he was offered the knowledge of a bunch of galaxies. At the end it's very apparent that some all powerful person is on their way to earth.

Yeah, Lex said something to the effect that "God is dead. Not just on Earth, but even the stars know...". So who is that character? Brainiac?

It's is like they made lex more a batman villain than the lex we all know.

The dream sequences I am guessing were to set up the threat of Darkseid a menace that will bring the jla together.

Why these dream where coming to bats

http://www.vox.com/2016/3/24/11302528/batman-v-superman-spoilers-review

There are MAJOR SPOILERS for Batman v Supermanhere.
The strangest moment of my Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justicepress screening experience was a taped plea from director Zack Snyder asking fans not to tweet or write blog posts that would spoil the movie. Snyder looks directly into the camera and begs everyone watching to ensure that fans go into the movie spoiler-free (It's unclear whether this plea will be shown anywhere else). I've never seen such a thing at a film screening, and can't imagine any other director pulling a move like this — no matter how big the movie.

Snyder's distrust of his audience might have more clout if there was much to spoil.

In the months leading up to Batman v Superman's release, Warner Bros. cut trailer after trailer and TV spot after TV spot that exposed almost every second of the movie's biggest moments. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman appears in almost every single tease, and you would have to actively avoid reading casting news to not know that Wonder Woman and her fellow Justice Leaguers Aquaman, the Flash, and Cyborg (played by Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher) all factor into the film.

What makes Snyder's plea even more feeble is the critical consensus that the movie he hatched and wanted to keep so precious is a cinematic potato. Batman v Superman is currently hovering at a score of 44 on Metacritic and a 33 on Rotten Tomatoes (both scores are out of 100).

And my own review didn't help.

You cannot convince me that Batman v Superman is anything more than a stupidly beautiful, hollow movie. Its characters are miscalculated — Batman isn't analytical, Superman is too grim and joyless, and Lex Luthor is just junk. Meanwhile, Snyder doesn't explore the heavy-handed themes he presents. All in all, the film is an unstoppable bullet train to disappointment with Snyder at the helm.

In my pre-release review, I honored Snyder's no-spoilers request as best I could. There were even a few really fun scenes — not fun enough to change my rating of the movie, but fun nonetheless — that I purposely didn't write about. But with the full release of the film, I now feel a certain duty (and freedom) to tell moviegoers (who want to know about the spoilers) of what's in store. If you're a comic book fan who just wants to know whether there's anything salvageable about Batman v Superman, this review is for you.

*SPOILER ALERT. LAST CHANCE. PLEASE LEAVE IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS*
Post-Credits scene?
There is no post-credits scene.

The Justice League is not in this thing, but there are a few cameos

MV5BYmM0N2UwNWMtYTMwMC00NmVmLWE0Y2UtMGMwOThiZmZhNzlkXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMDc5MjI0Ng__._V1__SX1330_SY658_.0.jpg

Aquaman (Warner Bros.)

One of the only moments about Batman v Superman that its trailers didn't reveal is how Jason Momoa's Aquaman, Ezra Miller's Flash, and Ray Fisher's Cyborg — the other members of the Justice League — fit into the mix. There was talk of them making appearances in the film, and rumors that we might actually see them do cool things.

Perhaps they will play a bigger role in the director's cut, but the theatrical cut shows only brief flashes of Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborg. Because of a dumb plot involving a zip drive and e-mail, we learn that Lex Luthor has been spying on metahumans and has a folder full of surveillance footage on four metahumans in particular, including Wonder Woman. Momoa's Aquaman is seen in a sunken ship, flashes his brilliant hair, and then bolts off. The Flash stops a holdup at a convenience store. And we see Silas Stone experimenting on his son, Victor (the future Cyborg) during a red alert.

It's definitely cool reveal, but it also feels like an "extra features" scene on Blu-Ray or DVD.

The Flash gets a bigger cameo than Aquaman and Cyborg
Throughout Batman v Superman, Batman has a bunch of terrible visions. In one of them, a man screams at him through a portal and tells him Lois Lane is the key. I believe (I'm about 97 percent sure)that the man who's screaming is the Flash, but I'm not completely familiar with Ezra Miller's face and it's obscured slightly.

What we see lines up with the Flash's powers, though, and with comic bookstorylines likeFlashpoint where the Flash has the ability to go back in time, as well as to see different timelines and alter them (for better or worse).

Batman just brushes this whole scene off and it's never revisited again.

Wonder Woman's fight scene is the best part of the movie

gal-gadot-s-real-wonder-woman-look-in-batman-vs-superman-dark-muted-filtered.0.jpeg

Wonder Woman (Warner Bros.)

Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman (a.k.a. Diana Prince) is the true highlight of Batman v Superman, which is a lot like saying Wonder Woman is the best house on a bad block. Some of her shine has to do with everything around her being stagnant pond water. But the movie's final battle scene, when she finally shows up to take on Doomsday with the boys, is its sole superhero moment.

The way she moves in battle is distinctly different than the way Superman and Batman operate — an acknowledgment that she's a trained Amazonian warrior. It's unclear if she can fly, but she leaps hundreds of yards at a time. Her bracelets (gauntlets?) and shield absorb and reflect Doomsday's laser beams. And yes, we see her use her magic, unbreakable lasso, and it's a breathtaking moment.

The Batman chase scene is better than the Batman-Superman battle
There are two confrontations between Batman and Superman in Batman v Superman, and only one real fight. The fight isn't my cup of tea — it's a bit too repetitive and poorly staged. There isn't anything imaginative or innovative about it, and it ends in the weirdest possible place (weird enough that I won't spoil it even in this review full of spoilers).

Thankfully, the film contains a Batmobile chase scene that's much better. Batman is trying to hijack some Kryptonite, and uses the Batmobile as a speed machine, battering ram, tank, and bulldozer to get it. It's a rattling, knuckle-clenching moment, and it happens before Superman enters the fray, setting up the first clash of these titans.

Superman dies the dumbest death

MV5BMTQ2MTgyNzY2MV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwOTA5MjkxNjE_._V1__SX1330_SY658_.0.jpg

Batman v Superman (Warner Bros.)

In the final battle, Superman has a spear made of pure Kryptonite that must be plunged into Doomsday to kill him. Because Superman is weak against Kryptonite, he obviously can't carry the spear for very long periods of time. Nevertheless, instead of giving it to the super-powered Amazonian warrior woman who is clearly adept at all kinds of combat and basically invulnerable, Superman decides to charge at Doomsday to impale him with it and dies in the process. It's a completely avoidable death, and one that Superman will undoubtedlybe resurrected from in the first Justice League movie.

But I kind of understand where Warner Bros. wants to go with it.

The death of Superman also spells the death of Clark Kent, and an obituary for Kent is published in the Daily Planet. This could allow for future movies involving Superman to not have scenes featuring Henry Cavill as Kent — it's not like Batman v Superman was especially adept or interested in telling Kent's story.

My concern with this decision (which could possibly be reversed) is that it makes Kal-El (Superman's real name) less hopeful, less human. My colleague Matt Yglesias put it succinctly in noting that being a Kent taught Superman about humanity about hope and about being good:

And, if Clark Kent is really dead, you can imagine what the tone — i.e. continuing bleakness — might be for the rest of the Justice League films.

Again, these are some of the most successful parts of the movie which critics and fans were asked not to talk about. They aren't enough to change the quality of the movie. But some of them — the metahuman files, Wonder Woman's lasso — are bright spots in a movie that's generally pretty underwhelming, and others will no doubt be part of the bigger conversation regarding this movie.

Since when does Batman allow his secret identity to be discovered so easily? How da hell did Superman know Bats identity was. He was suspicious of Bruce Wayne when he overheard the communication over the earpiece but otherwise I don't recall seeing anything that alludes to Superman making that discovery. There was a lot of plot holes.

Im just going to make up my own headcanon and say this was sort of an"Elseworlds" story..:dunno:

The biggest problem is that completely fucked Superman. There is no way that they can just bring him back when everybody has seen Clack in a fucking coffin. Dude is going to have to spend his life in the whatch tower all his life or just walk around in the suit and cape. Clark Kent is completely dead now....

Clark superhearing allowed him to identify Bruce Wayne as the Batman at the Luthor party. That's how Supes found Batman attempting to steal the White Portuguese

How da fuck did Lex discover that Clark was Superman? I can understand him putting two and two together bout Superman & Lois but how they went after Martha Kent was yet another dumb plot hole

That's what made him suspicious of Bruce but nothing more than that. Also they didn't discover what the White Portuguese was til the files were decrypted and there was no referral to Bruce as Batman during the convo over the com links. Alfred always calls him Master Bruce.

I think the information from Zod's spaceship helped him with that mystery

In the next flick he will be bald and bigger and more deadly.

I agree with what they were trying to do and in the beginning it was working .. like the party scene. But then they just made him flat bat shit crazy and played all of his cards in this movie. What does he have left? He kidnapped the girlfriend, the mother, told Clark that he knows his identity, wasted Doomsday, Batman cloned dudes computer and has his files on the other meta humans, Wonder Woman has her photo, he was arrested, he blew up his assistant for no fucking reason at all, and he probably lost his company.... All in one movie. How is he even a threat now?

And now they are immediately going to Darkshied. Why???? He is the big hammer and there is no build up for him. Man of steel 2 with Brainiac as the villain would have been perfect. You could of still had Wonder Woman and lex in this. I would have left Batman out and saved Batman v Superman for the next movie before justice league. But DC just could not be patient..... They felt like they had to catch up to Marvel and Fox and just rushed into this movie. You can tell it was rushed.

Man i agree and disagree with you. I hear you on the killing but it's the use of guns that has to be explained. Part of batmans tragedy was how he always sees the gun that's used to kill his parents and it affect on him. It's why he flinches if a gun is in his hand. He sees that moment in his head. This movie just kind of ignored that.

I dunno what theyre doing with Lex unless he is a one off and done like Marvel did with the Red Skull. That has to be it. And to be honest, I thought that was a mistake. As much as I LOVED WINTER SOLDIER - I thought the reveal of Alexander Pierce as the Red skull would have been genius... it was a tie in to Cap 1, the Super Soldier program, it would've got rid of Hugo Weaving and supplant him with Robert Redford - who would complain about that?

Man of Steel 2 with Brainiac was it. You are right. That was the film to make. A friend of mine wrote a 60 page treatment of how he would write it and I almost jumped up and down at the end. Of course the shit went nowhere but it showed me what a person, objectively writing, could come up with a bit of subtlety.

Patience is a virtue... WB just doesn't get it...

I think this is the nail in the coffin. And you would think after the world seen what Sony did with Spiderman 3 and then The Amazing Spiderman 2 that they would fucking get it. Even if Snyder didn't, somebody else should've been like - WAIT.

Did the Daily Planet say Clark Kent was dead or missing ? They weren't clear as to whether they told the world Clark was Supes

Newspaper said Clark died in the battle. Perry white was at the funeral at Martha Kents house. There was a open casket. Clark is dead forever now. There is no he can just come back when everyone saw you in the casket. That was a stupid stupid move on their part. Why would you just basically kill Clark Kent?

When they showed the headline superman dead, they also showed the article Clark Kent Daily News Reporter killed while reporting doomsday battle.

Man I completely agree with all of this. The craziest thing about DC is that their animated Divison is fucking amazing. They have never let me down on any of their animated movies and I've watched them all. Marvel is winning because they stole the same set up that Bruce Timm mastered with Batman the animated series and Justice League.

I'm begging DC to go to Bruce Timms house. I don't care if dude is sleep. Wake his ass up. Get on your fucking knees and give this guy complete creative control over all things DC media. Animated and live action.... Pay him what ever he wants and let him fix this mess.

YES!! TIMM IS A MASTERMIND...

SERIOUSLY

He could be their Kevin Feige

ever since the Bryan Singer bullshit on Superman -I've been praying for WB to go to Bruce Timm

I can't understand why they never used him - his projects are still the best stories - its a shame when his animated TV stories and movies are head and shoulders better in plot character development and acting than EVERY live action superhero movie or TV Show (animated or live) made by ANYONE regardless of unverse: MCU DCU Vertigo etc!

That would be like Disney ignoring or burying the geniuses they have at PIXAR
