I agree. The first ep was garbage, but they did redeem themselves at times. Still slow like a soap though.
It also isn't just about zombies. Creating human tension will work and won't cost much money. There isn't any reason for slow episodes in a zombie world.

Man in all of the zombie/virus outbreak movies and shows I've always said the same thing, "Head to the ocean!" Finally someone had sense to do it. Although a yacht would require too much maintenance. A nice sized sale boat, manual water filtration system, nice arsenal of weapons, and fishing gear and you will be good. You don't have to go far off shore either. Just far enough to keep an eye on hell breaking loose on land.

So you can't just hunt a deer, kill it, and cut it up. You have to keep it alive OR eat canned food. But it's the campy series.
They can turn that boat shit into General Hospital, meanwhile, our own Sneed would probably have had a crash with a zombie boat midway through ep 1.....
