Here's my analysis.

On the whole, you are on the RIGHT TRACK

Why?

1) You are choosing a LUCRATIVE OVERALL NICHE

Stock investing is very lucrative, check out the average per click values for STOCK INVESTING and PERSONAL FINANCE (SEE BELOW)

awFrxgq.png

2) You've picked a good OVERALL niche, now the key is to DRILL DOWN and find a SUBNICHE in either stocks or personal finance. Stock investing, overall, is VERY COMPETITIVE

See the # of competing pages targeting the same niche?

W7h02z0.png

3) For content creation, I would agree with video production ONLY IF you're using maybe 10 to 25 videos as initial 'SEED' videos to get your site up. You should work at getting 3rd parties to contribute content to your site and promoting the site overall

4) For promotion, you should look into guest posting to spread your brand and get targeted traffic.

To get VA's to help you with that, you need to instruct them to do the following

A) Get a massive list of sites that are in your niche

B) FIlter them based on Alexa Site Info score so you can target only sites with LOTS OF TRAFFIC

C) Get those sites' contact info so you can do OUTREACH and trade content for traffic.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Curious of your feedback to "mack in training" plan of action

Or you could just be born rich. :D

Actually, most wealthy people are self-made. They didn't inherit their wealth. Also, inherited wealth tends to dissipate after several generations.

Here's the Site plan/Blog plan for the CASE STUDY PROJECT I'm going to be featuring for this thread/update for 2015

Please note that I won't share my url or niche. Instead, I'll share the updates re progress as I develop the site.

################

What type of site is this?

Directory / Product Profile Site

- They write their own company background
- They write their own 'pitch' as to why people should try their stuff out
- They supply original promotional materials or pictures
- INTERVIEW with key people in the company
- Testimonials of people who use their stuff

What kind of work is needed for this site?

- Site design
- VA outreach to HUNDREDS of industry players to send in their content
- Content marketing (post articles on related resource sites)
- Social media marketing - get influence leaders to SHARE/RETWEET authority content (either on the site or contributed content)
- List building (monetization and audience retention)

How does this site get its content?

- Listed sites supply their own content - must be original and unpublished elsewhere
- 'Featured Guides' : special authority content on site (used for link building)
- Self-writing site: interviews / original samples / original tips / niche pictures / product diagrams
- Listed sites' personnel produce CONSUMER GUIDES

How will this site be promoted?

- Content marketing : pitch content for posting (guest post)
- Ask featured providers to blog about their profiles (link to the site from many different places - this is a 2 way link though)
- Social media: post relevant links to content on soc media accounts that focus on certain products
- Ask featured companies: put a badge on their homepage
- Forum marketing: talk about product category (not specific product) and post TIPS
- Yahoo Answers?
- Subreddit
- Facebook School Fanpages
- Facebook Groups (product-specific)
- Ask Listed companies to produce CONTENT TO BE USED FOR GUEST POSTS : they benefit because direct traffic is generated to their feature page on the site / this produces traffic for site

What is MY content strategy?

- On site: RESOURCE pages that people will use as a REFERENCE / question and answer? Glossaries?
- Contributed content: Formatted like BUZZFEED blog posts (animated gifs), conversational style content.

Budget

- VA: batches of $75 / research + get contact info + key pieces of site information + categorization
- VA: Outreach assistant – emailing and filtering – batches of $75
- VA or Writer 'Seeding': See below
- Site design: Buy professional theme for ~ $100 and spend $100 on customization
- TIME to coordinate with online stores/manufacturers/providers

IMPORTANT FACTORS

- Empty restaurant Syndrome: have to fill in information on companies so they can be excited to join in. NO ONE WILL TAKE THE FIRST STEP - Maybe "SEED" the site first?
- "Seeding" is crucial because the 'model' pages will establish the kind of quality we want the others to provide
- How many seeds? 20? 50? 100? Too much seeding might make this model COST PROHIBITIVE ... plus also defeats the whole purpose of site that 'writes itself'
- How about PARTIAL SEED: VA scrapes info, cheap rewriter rewrites text? Invite listed sites to provide ORIGINAL content that replaces 'seed' content
- Use Increasing number of ORIGINAL content pages to PUSH other manufactures/industry players to provide even more original content

Deadlines

- Concept Finalization
- Production
- Maintenance
- Monetization

MILESTONES

- Concept Finalization
- Production :: Research
- Production :: Site building
- Production :: SEED CONTENT STOCKING
- Production :: Outreach
- Production :: Maintenance - updating with manufacturers' content
- Production :: Outreach Wave 2

Monetization:

Stage 1 monetization:

- Adsense
- CPA offers
- Custom Guides (to build buyers' list - very cheap ebook)

Stage 2 monetization:

- Paid email blasts to list members re related solutions/related products
- Channel sponsorships
- Paid lead collection (ie. email box asks for email - sell to manufacturers at $7.50 a pop - minimum of 100 leads per package - specialized package (ie., for their co. only)

Competitive advantages:

- Site writes itself
- PASSIVE INCOME!
- Less effort
- Lucrative niche
- Can be broken up into other subniches
- As content increases, easier to get new content

Marketing strategy:

Exit strategy:

- Sell to Industry leader in niche
- Sell on Flippa
- Build into a corporation and continue as niche leader publication
- Continue to generate cash

#1-- I said "Or." I wasn't suggesting that the perspective you shared was false, totally inaccurate or impossible.

But, since we're on the subject...

#2-- In the words of Canibus, it's highly motherfucking improbable.

Re: Unemployed? Tired of McJobs? How to Blog For Money -- a Step by Step Tutorial (p

Question do you feel with the google changes like panda and penguin. That you can still rank well enough to use Adsense?

Is adsense dead?

Are there other methods to make money besides adsense? Or getting on the first page of google?

Well, with Panda, you need to fix your design so you don't have too many ads above the fold.

A lot of the modern WP themes out there are doing okay Panda-wise.

As for Google Penguin, the name of the game now is to EARN LINKS through quality content and SEO outreach instead of building your own link network or building your own links on Web 2.0 sites.

You have to be more careful with anchor text. Make sure you link to your site using your BRAND name instead of your 'money keywords'

As for Adsense, you can make more money selling your own ebooks and other products you create based on your knowledge of your target audience. If you need help with cheap but quality ebooks, just let me know. I have a solid connection.

Re: Unemployed? Tired of McJobs? How to Blog For Money -- a Step by Step Tutorial (p

I've been reading mack in training blog plan

thanks a lot by the way for all the work fam...

I feel like money and finance are pretty much the ONLY real ways to go

(btw I have absolutely ZERO knowledge of this just going by my and friends and family perspective)

I only had one idea and I was hoping the fam could provide feedback.

When I used to work directly with shelters the NUMBER ONE thing THOUSANDS of people seem to clamor for is more ACCURATE information on was Public Assistance and Social Services (dealing with government agencies etc) And this is not ONLY the homeless working poor etc. the middle class and the upper middle who have to deal with these issues not for themselves but retired parents.

I always thought THAT would be a great blog idea but with the creation of 311 in NY, I thought it was already covered but it seems although I am not exposed to that particular population anymore the problem STILL exists and is getting worse.

So I'm asking do you think a NY/NJ blog offering assistance and advice on social services could be a success?

Wanted to share this link.

Even if you don't do food/recipe blogs, this is one of the best sites I've come across to see how someone started from scratch to where they are now. They do a good job of showing step by step every month and show all income and traffic stats.

First month income: $21.97

to last month's income

$32,971.75

Most of their traffic does not even come from google. But from pinterest and facebook.

Start on the second page and work your way up.

Man I've always thought about doing a blog for supplemental income. I have extensive knowledge in youth sports and training, specifically in basketball. I wonder if there is a market (money wise) for this, and how do I find out who has the most traffic for this type of niche?

Re: Unemployed? Tired of McJobs? How to Blog For Money -- a Step by Step Tutorial (p

My thought is not as much to sell the blog as much it is to continue to build a brand. I am looking long term. Right now, YouTube sends $200 per month on videos adsense. I havent uploaded a video in years. So, I'm thinking if I scale, this may be a great passive income when I retire. Upload a video and it's there forever to make money.

Of course, it's got to be good quality and meaningful. But right now, I feel like that's my plan. I can throw in affiliate links and promote products as a part of that.

It is SLIGHTLY different

Here's the difference

1) Follow the same steps in finding niches that have LOW COMPETITION (using Google search) and COMMERCIAL VALUE (using google Keyword planner). Make sure it's a niche you are passionate about

2) The difference:
Go to social media sites like Twitter and FIND CONTENT that's VIRAL or VERY POPULAR in your selected niche

Reverse engineer (copy but not really) that content. How?

If the competition offers OUT OF DATE info, make sure your stuff is up to date

If the competition is offering a list of 10 things, offer 100 things

If the competition's layout sucks, use better layouts and graphics/video

Blow your competition out of the water

3) Next, reverse engineer their backlinks using AHREFS.com

Find their hottest backlinks and email those mofos to link to your SUPERIOR content.

I think it is a great idea because it is very easy to promote. Whenever there's a political forum discussion, welfare comes up from almost regularly. You only need to have a REFERENCES on your blog that lays out benefits and link outs to step by step action plans.

Usually, people who need support are often thinking of RETRAINING / REINVESTING IN THEMSELVES THROUGH EDUCATION or HOMEBASED EMPLOYMENT

You can rotate ads among these different niches until you see which generates the best ROI

Also, you can create your own products (ie., hire a writer for a custom book - ie, 'From Public Assistance to $75,000 a year - a Blueprint for Financial Stability' or something like that.

Another thing I like about your idea is that it is SCALABLE. YOu can start with NY/NY then cover more and more states.

You can reinvest that $200 monthly income to building up your video inventory. I would suggest getting a mailing list going so you can build another revenue stream. Get a FAT list going and I can help you PIMP your list to mofos slinging Forex or other finance-related niche offers. Click fees range from 10 cents per click to 25 cents per click and up. Clicks are easier to get with a list.
