w/ backwards compatibility I wonder if XB1 owners will be able to take advantage of 360 weekly deals and free games monthly as well

Just download the free ones until the studio confirms it. It obvious which ones won't be added (sports, remasters, kinect games)

holy crap...I never thought of that...even tho I don't have a 360 I should still be able to reserve the games for download using my account on a PC...damn all the free games I missed...lemme see if that works

Is this porting over our saved games or we have to start over is what I need to know, some of these joints I'm not trying to play from beginning again like Skyrim. NO SIR!

Yea the testing games suck right now but Mass Effect and Zuma have been eating up my time. Perfect Dark and Alien Hominid are next on my list to play.

Ayy LSN you buy your universal remote yet? Check out kinja deals

They got that Logitech 350 on sale for $22 bucks.

It's the lowest, bare bones model, but I do believe it has a smart phone app it grants access to that you can use to control multiple devices.

And the Logitech Harmony 700 is selling for $60 on eBay

na I've put the brakes on on spending shit...now that I have more free time to myself is the time to clamp down and not make impulse buys

<section class="entry-content clearfix" itemprop="articleBody"> In the behind-closed doors demo of the Xbox One platform updates, Microsoft showed off plenty of the improvements coming to its platform later this year. Alongside the interface updates and game streaming, the company also detailed Xbox One backward compatibility.

The big news around backward compatibility (or “back compat” as the Microsoft rep kept saying) is about what Xbox 360 games will run on the new console.

There is actually a software emulator running on the Xbox One that simulates Xbox 360 architecture and remaps certain buttons and functions to have everything work properly with the Xbox One controller. The full dashboard is actually running in the background as well, as the company wanted to have the true Xbox 360 experience when performing actions such as hitting the Xbox button to bring up the guide.
With the entire software backend in tow, it stands to reason that any original Xbox game that ran on Xbox 360 via backwards compatibility should also work on the Xbox One through this.

From the 360 to Xbox One generation, there is a bit of work to be done on the backend as the game and updated install packages need to be hosted on the Xbox Live servers and authentication tools need to be created for each game. But the technical process behind it all is sound: if Microsoft really wanted to, they could have Xbox games run on Xbox One as early as right now.

When asked about the feature, we weren’t given an answer; the official line was something along the lines of “there’s nothing planned at this time”, but that it is technically feasible. The actual merits of making original Xbox games playable on Xbox One are few, if there are any at all.

Of course, it’s always nice to know it could happen. Just don’t hold your breath.

Just needs the publisher to allow it

The Xbox One's backwards compatibility tech will fully support Xbox 360 DLC as well as games, Microsoft has confirmed.

As with full game titles, publishers simply need to give the thumbs up to Microsoft for add-on content to be available on Xbox One.

Confirmation of this comes via Xbox Support. Eurogamer was previously told by Microsoft exec Kudo Tsunoda that cloud saves and Achievements also carry over.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer later confirmed to us that Xbox 360 multiplayer would also work, so long as the game's publisher had kept servers running.

Microsoft's clever back-compat tech works by emulating a virtual Xbox 360 environment on an Xbox One. Digital titles you already own can simply be redownloaded, while physical games are installed when you insert their disc.

The feature is due to roll-out for all Xbox One owners this autumn but is already available to the growing number of users who are part of the Xbox One preview programme.

More than 100 games will be available at its full launch, with more added every week. Currently, preview members have access to 21 titles, including Viva Piñata, Super Meat Boy and Mass Effect.

No DLC is available at the moment, but the programme is still only a week old. It would be difficult to see a game such as Mass Effect 3 launching without its DLC for example, or the game's Extended Cut, at least.

Ubisoft has now opened up a sign-up list for those who want to be the first to play Tom Clancy’s The Division’s Beta when it launches to Xbox One players in December of this year. Spots are limited, so you might want to get on it right away.

The Beta will apparently be a timed exclusive to Xbox One. Then, in 2016, PC and PS4 players will get the chance to check it out.

You must also Pre-Order the game in order to take advantage of the Beta. You can pre-order on the same page as the Beta sign-up.

Tom Clancy’s The Division is an online shooter with RPG elements. It allows four-player co-op and PvP play online. It will be on Xbox One (timed exclusive), PS4, and PC. It is scheduled to release March 8th, 2016.

Here is the Multiplayer Demo shown at E3:

This will be big for me if rock band makes that backwards compatible list.

I bought EVERY MUSIC PACK for that game on the 360.

Also, can one of you smart guys explain for me the differences between open v moderate v strict NAT type? Any vulnerabilities I need to be worried about setting it to OPEN?

I'm asking because I just ran across a video that explains how to change the NAT type on the console, and it could possibly cure a few multiplayer issues some of us are having on this system.

My post has ended. Stop reading, jackass :hmm:

ya I seen a vid about that...didn't do anything for me when I was wireless...but being wired up it's made a big difference so far...don't know about it presenting any security issues if open...I'll look it up

*edit*

in a nutshell it's safe for gaming on a console...bad if it were a PC...I just google 'is open NAT safe'...I'll look more into it

While we knew it was coming after Red Bull accidentally confirmed Destiny's The Taken King, the energy drink company has hit go on its official site, revealing an exclusive Taken King quest. The "epic, new quest" is a "never-before-seen, multistage mission in The Taken King that will test the speed and strategic abilities of Destiny players in new ways."

The quest will be exclusive to Red Bull via an access code under the tab of promotional cans that can be entered on the site and requires The Taken King to be able to play. Drinkers will also get a one time consumable Bonus XP buff that will increase XP gain by 50% for 30 minutes and each marked can of caffeine will include a code. The XP boost will be available from the 1st of July, while the quest will be launching with the Taken King on September the 15th.

Bungie says it's "comfortable" with the price tag of Destiny The Taken King this week after it was revealed that the expansion will cost $40, but fans don't feel quite the same way. This exclusive quest for Red Bull drinkers isn't going to help matters if this multi-stage mission is a significant extra. While the quest will only be exclusive until January 1st 2016 there's no word on Red Bull promotions outside of the US.
