It's not a matter of not following the book. They've moved past the book with some of the characters. There are still some plot points in the book that the show hasn't gotten to yet.

The title Mother's Mercy is more than likely tied to multiple characters.

Agreed. I think it's probably tied to multiple people... or most likely tied to the High Sparrow and the Faith of the Seven.

To me, the title 'Mother's Mercy' is probably linked to the High Sparrow's ultimate 'end-game' that will setup major storylines for next season.

Don't forget Dany is the "mother" of dragons. Perhaps more information will come out about Jon's mother as well.

They did a great job developing her character in such a short time. I was getting attached to her already. Great writing how they showed that even though she was a brave leader and great warrior, she was a loving mother first. She made sure to see her girls to safety and then protect her people. She was kicking ass nonstop but then couldnt bring herself to "kill" a few "children".

Yeah, I thought they were setting her up to be a new Ygritte for Jon.

He turned out to be one hell of a leader too. to do what you have to do in the face of so much resistance from both sides. when he stood against Stannis Baratheon and shot Mansrater with the arrow...wow.

This is where I think Jojen Reed and Bran Stark tie back in.

I was digging her...like she gone be the new Igrette....but if they had to kill her quick, they did a very good job if it. Kinda hated to see her eyes go devil blue at the end.

Maybe,just maybe, there is hope for Daenerys,since Tyrion is there....

The tandem of Dany and Tyrion looks like it could be as fearsome as the tandem of Jon Snow and Thormund who were looking like the Hart foundation out there fighteing them White Walkers...

Only other things I'll speak on are Arya getting them many faced lessons....bad ass.....and Sansa learning that Bran and Rickon are still alive. Both of those will be game changers that I hope we get a glimpse of before this season ends.

I was just watching the episode again and you know, a lot of directors could learn from whomever directed this one about creating a compelling character that people will care about in such a short time.
I actually grew to like her character in what, less than 2 minutes actual viewing time. Understood why she froze seeing the kid zombies, and regretted her death and undead eyes.

I was completely blind sided by this episode here I am thinking this season biggest fight was going to be with stanis and the boltons at winterfell, then this I thought they were saving the whitewalker fights for next season,GOT took it a notch up on this one epic shit I can't wait to see the last 2 episodes..the season finale episode will be called mother's mercy

The battle at the end was so epic that it overshadowed a lot of other great things from this episode.​
