Kendrick Perkins on LBJ legacy - "A couple of more titles and that's it."

I think the most amazing fact (or one of the most amazing facts) of Lebrons career and successes is that unlike his contemporaries or the all time greats he is compared against, hes the ONLY one to not only not have a great coach on staff, but he hasnt even had a head coach above mediocre status coaching him in his 6 title series appearances. That really shouldnt be overlooked.

It is an interesting stat. I don't know what it really means though. The reason I say that is cuz I argue with my homie all the time about Phil Jackson's legacy....I mean....with the teams he had, it's arguable that Eric Spoelstra could have came out with as many chips. Not to shit on Jackson or Pop or Riley or any of the great coaches who I feel are truly great coaches....I just think Lebron's career is evidence that damn near anybody can win with players like that on your squad. And conversely....it begs the question...could Jordan have won 6 rings with an Eric Spoelstra level coach? I would say probably...but we'll never know.

The East is weak sauce. However, if the Cavs manage to beat GS after having lost Love and with Kyrie barely making it through, it's going to make a huge statement.

But kind of like how Wade had nothing left last year against the Spurs, I think Lebron is about to meet up in the finals against the superior team that's playing extremely well...and lose. Maybe GS will choke up having never been there before..

If they win, I think it might rank as one of the greatest feats in NBA History. This is not a great squad, this shit it working because Lebron can fill in on both sides of the floor for both Kyrie and Love.. that shit's CRAZY.

One side.

Irving and especially Love's wack ass being out actually makes them a better defensive team.

Niggas delusional thinking LBJ is better than Jordan at this point, totally delusional, hell LBJ would say it himself he's NOT BETTER THAN Jordan.

Agreed. He's had mediocre coaches at best.

Agreed. It helps them on the defensive side..but it also means that Lebron has to step up on the defensive rebounding. Love is on the worst defenders in the league statistically, but he's a rebounding machine. Also hurts their depth so Lebron has to play more minutes.

Jordan won his titles while competing against Utah ( Malone/Stockton ), Houston ( Akeem ), Portland ( Drexler ), Lakers ( Scott, Worthy ), Phoenix (Barkley ), Sonics ( Kemp ) and remember Jordan never lost a finals. LeBron has lost 3 and got exposed by San Antonio.

For the above reason, Jordan is in a class by himself. Apologies for using another sport in this analogy but its like how the mefia wanted to compare Brady to Montana after the last SB. Montana is unbeaten and played in an era where REAL, violent defense was played. Same is true for Jordan. Free drives to the lane resulted in catching a shiver or a loving low-bridge.
LBJ is an amazing player and as a Knick fan (i know) and a Kobe supporter (i know again...)there's no question he's the man right now - but he's the FIRST Lebron, not the next Jordan.

 Yessir

LeBron big 3 lost

Lost to this team with an old ass Jkid.

LeBron got beat by the Big One.

ok jordan played in the era of hand checks and the new york thug triangle...mason/ oakley/smith...:D...lebron is nice ..but the league is way softer then it was in the 80s and 90s and quick to call fouls

I agree.Never another Jordan

im going to get cussed out but fuck it

how good is phil jackson really?

where is his coaching tree?

im asking because i seriously want to know.

All we know is Phil Jackson WILL NOT coach a team he doesn't deem to be star studded

I don't know how good of a teacher he is which is why his tree is suspect

He is just great at managing egos

but that's how he likes it though. he wants people he can run not the other way around.
Im sure everyone wants it like that. Tobe as well. But he realized he needed Phil back to win. Bron has been successful with clowns. How many game Tobe win with Mike Brown spitting in cups in LA?

Well we have a small sample set of what happened in LA when Phil left, and when he came back. Also, its hard to argue against 11 rings.

just thinking out loud.

he's going to have to be a miracle worker for this knicks shit to work out

Wilt is too much of a playoff bammer to be the GOAT. He's basketball's Peyton Manning.

Peyton don't got 2 rings between 2 different franchises. And Wilt holds too many playoff records and was apart of too many all time great teams to be considered a "bammer". He took every team he ever played for to a Finals and played his last game there. Wilt's playoff success also wasnt entirely tied to another Top 50 HOF player either.

I root against him daily. He had a chance to get things moving in the direction last summer. Instead, he fucked up majorly on his first big decision and maxed out Melo... A player he had previously publicly voiced concern with his ability to lead a winning team.

Cant wait to see him fuck up again this summer with the draft and free agency.

:lol2:

Lebron went 28 pts, 8rbs, 4ast, 2stls a game in the Finals last year...losing to the better team isn't a crime. Dude played 38 mpg, shot 57% (52% from 3), & 79% from the stripe...dude did his part to carry that team.

Wilt was great...but moreso in the sense that Shaq was great. The kind of freak of nature dominant force you maybe see once a generation. A legend....an all time great....but not to be mentioned with the Bill Russells, Michael Jordans and such.

Bron...thus far... is more in the Wilt/Shaq tier than the Russell/Jordan tier. And thats nothing to sneeze at....but nothing to try to crown all time best either.

As for Phil Jackson....I dont doubt that he's a good coach. But I think its fair to speculate that damn near any coach who wasnt somewhat retarded would have a handful of rings with the teams Phil coached. Maybe I'm wrong...but like I said before...we'll never know.

I'll tell you what he is not going to do and that's coach that team

Nope not gonna do it

yea but that's why i don't like riley. he robbed van gundy of a chip.

spolestra is his puppet so he didn't come down from on high and work his "magic"

I knew he would cave. im more disappointed in melo for going back to the knicks than i am for the knicks spending the money

but he tanked and didn't get shit.

that's not a good start to the city

funny thing is he can screw it all up and then fly across the country like the shit never happened

he's still money in l.a. and chicago

Van Gundy was gonna fuck it up

Pat had to take over

Plus the Heat Pat took over >>>>>>>>>> the Knicks right about now

Please believe if the Knicks looked like the Heat did in 05 Phil would be head coach RIGHT NOW

how could he have fucked that up? the refs handed them that chip unless you mean riley paid em off lol

i mean he got dwight howard and the all a-10 conference 2nd team to the finals he would've won that shit

Man who knows if he even gets them to the finals so that the NBA can hand them the chip tho that's what I'm saying

Plus with him coaching the team instead of Riley who knows if the NBA still does that

Probably so cuz everybody hated Cuban and they wanted a new young star to be born with Wade but still

Dirk >>>>>>>>>>>

Jet Terry >>>>>>

Our shooters >>>>>

This is the NBA not boxing, and nobody, has ever won a championship by himself...
In todays game and rules you need outside shooters or else teams will pack the paint and or play the zone.
With the first and last Heat teams, they lack the proper floor spacing by the outside shooters, and as I said last year, at mid season, they Heat can only go as far as their outside shooters allow them to go..
Now I know there are some folks who look at Jordan like he was a god and swore up and down that he won all of those championships by himself, but remember one thing, the Bulls almost went to the finals with out him and every team that LeBron left wound up a lotto team...
Not saying that LeBron could ever be better than Jordan, but it goes to show, that you need a team to win a championship, especially with the rules of todays game......

Bron lost championships with players on par with or better than the players MJ had. Shit...Bron lost championships with players on par or better than the teams he lost to. Of course...this happens. As a team....I would say that the sum of Dallas/San Antonio's teams were greater than Miami's parts....but the individual breakdown gives the advantage to Miami in both cases...primarily but not entirely because of Bron. The telling factor though...is that in both losing series' Bron looked like he had lost. You never....ever....EVER saw Jordan look like he had lost in the finals. For me...that's the deciding factor beyond the wins/losses/rings....I've seen Bron...on multiple occasions....display the demeanor of a man defeated. I cant recall ever seeing that from Jordan. At this point its too late to take that back. We've seen it. Bron has loser in him in a way that we never saw in Jordan. Period.

To go further the length....Kobe had that never give up streak in him in a way more comparable to Jordan. For better or worse....Kobe would go JR Smith on you and just go out there and try some ridiculous shit before he would just roll over and take a loss....and then call everybody on else his squad some hoes for not doing the same. That's probably the one thing that I, not particularly being a fan of Kobe, love about dude.
