Titanfall's DLC is free right now on Xbox One and Xbox 360

titanfall_free_dlc.0.0.jpg

The three downloadable map packs released for Respawn Entertainment's futuristic first-person shooter Titanfall are currently free on Xbox One and Xbox 360.

While there's no official announcement yet about the generous giveaway of Titanfall's DLC from Microsoft, Electronic Arts or Respawn, it seems the free DLC may be related to the game's one-year anniversary. Titanfall was released on March 11, 2014 for Xbox One and Windows PC.

Xbox One owners can download the add-on packs — IMC Rising, Frontier's Edge and Expedition — individually for free from the Xbox Games Store or grab the Titanfall season pass for $0.00. Xbox 360 owners can download each pack — IMC Rising, Frontier's Edge and Expedition — for free as well, but the previous generation version's season pass is still listed at $24.99.

It appears that the 100 percent discount on Titanfall DLC doesn't apply to the Windows PC version of the game at this stage. EA's Origin lists each add-on for $9.99 and is selling the Titanfall season pass for $24.99.

A note from directors Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann

Since we showed you our first gameplay reveal of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, more of the game and story have come together, and it’s become clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned.

After spending so many years with Nathan Drake, he means a lot to the team, and telling the climactic chapter of his adventures is a task we don’t take lightly – this game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for.

So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.

Thank you for your patience – we know the extra wait will be excruciating, but you’ll see it will be worth it as we reveal more about Uncharted 4 over the next year. The team at Naughty Dog will be heads down working through 2015 making sure that Nathan Drake’s story gets the closure it deserves. Come Spring 2016, you and Nate are in for one thrilling, emotional ride.

looks like this WILL be the last Uncharted game after all..

will the season packs give me access to any new maps for titanfall that come out later on?

I'm just copping the Titanfall season pass for right now. I gotta save room on my HD. I only got 14GBs left and those DLC packs are almost 2GB a piece. The Season Pass gives you until March 16, 2016 to install them.

It was a busy week last week, with new tools releasing to Windows 10 developers at GDC to enable them to build great games for both Xbox and Windows. We’re eager to share that more features are coming to the Xbox app on Windows 10 as part of our monthly effort to deliver new functionality to the Xbox app. Today, we are adding the following features:

More ways to connect with your friends.

  • Game Clips – View game clips created on Xbox One and watch popular game clips from the Xbox Community. Download game clips from Xbox Live directly to your PC.
  • Activity Feed – Like comments and delete your own activity feed posts.
  • User Profile – Profile headers will now be collapsed by default to show more profile information on the screen.
  • Friends Search – Use the search box at the top of the friends list to find an existing friend by gamertag or by real name if they are sharing it with you.
More control of your experience.

  • Improved Window Sizing – The Xbox app adapts to changing window sizing to more intelligently display different views dependent on the size of the application window.
  • Connect to your Xbox One – Remotely control your Xbox One from the Xbox app using a virtual game controller.
  • OneGuide and Universal Remote Control – Access OneGuide and the Universal Remote Control to change channels, manage volume or access the DVR on your set-top box connected to your Xbox One.
  • Games – See recently played Xbox Live games across devices – that includes Windows 10 devices, Windows Phone, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
The Xbox app will automatically update to the March version when it becomes available in the Windows Store. Once you receive the update, your version number should be 3.3.3019.0 or higher. You can verify the version number of the Xbox app under Settings. To read more about these features, check out the full story at Xbox Wire.
The Xbox Feedback site has a new Xbox on Windows 10 sub-forum so you can easily submit your ideas and vote up ideas for improvements you would like to see for the Xbox app on Windows 10. We value your feedback and would love to hear from you.

Now they will like it.

Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment is working on a "multiplatform" sequel to the shooter, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella confirmed today in an interview with IGN.

"I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don't know anything about it, or... yeah. So we're working on a sequel," Zampella told IGN, referring to a talk given last month by Blake Jorgensen, Electronic Arts' chief financial officer. Zampella added that the game does not yet have an official title.

The original Titanfall (screenshot above), which debuted a year ago yesterday, was technically a multiplatform game as well, although all of them were Microsoft platforms: Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Previous reports have indicated that the sequel will not be a Microsoft exclusive, meaning that it will also be released on PlayStation 4, and that EA will publish the game again.

The Titanfall sequel is the main project under development at Respawn, but the studio is also "starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too," said Zampella. It's possible that the second team is being led by former God of War creative director Stig Asmussen, who joined Respawn last year as game director and confirmed to Polygon that he isn't working on Titanfall.

Zampella didn't provide any further details on the next Titanfall game, but said that Respawn is planning to "do something different" as far as charging for downloadable maps. The studio released three map packs as part of Titanfall's $24.99 season pass, which was available free yesterday to mark the one-year anniversary of the game's release.

"I think having the maps like that in packs, it does split the community and it makes it harder for matchmaking, it's messy," said Zampella.
We've reached out to Respawn for comment, and will update this article with any information we receive.

Update: A Respawn representative confirmed to Polygon that Asmussen is on the second, non-Titanfall team at the studio.

Sling TV is debuting on its first gaming console today. Microsoft just announced that the internet TV service is now available to Xbox One owners — as is the month-long free trial we heard about back in January. Xbox customers can download the app and start streaming from Sling's core "best of live TV" pack that includes ESPN, AMC, the Disney Channel, and more. (Separately, Dish also announced today that it will add A&E, History, H2 and Lifetime to that $20 package by the end of March.)

If you're not yet an Xbox owner, you'll be eligible for three months of free Sling TV upon the purchase of a new Xbox One console. Microsoft will also be showcasing Sling TV running on Xbox at its own stores, so clearly the companies have forged a strong relationship here. As another sign of that, Sling accounts can be set up directly on the Xbox without any need to register from a web browser. Sling TV is priced at $20 per month for the basic channel pack, with extra programming available through $5 bundles and video-on-demand rentals also offered.

Microsoft is making a lot of noise about being the "first" game console to pick up Sling, though it's very much uncertain whether Dish's service will ever appear on the PlayStation 4. What seemed like a good relationship between Sony and Dish during the previous console generation has now splintered, with Sony working to launch its own internet TV service in PlayStation Vue. Microsoft has no direct answer for PlayStation Vue at the moment, so throwing its weight behind Sling TV is a logical move to make. So much for reinventing TV.

If you've used Sling TV elsewhere, the Xbox experience should be very familiar. But you can do some handy things using the strengths of Microsoft's console; individual channels can be pinned to your Xbox One home screen, for example, so getting back to AMC for next week's Better Call Saul can be almost instantaneous. Support for Kinect voice commands has also been built into the app.

Battlefield Hardline Reviews

GameSpot 7/10

polygon - 7

Battlefield Hardline can be both more and less than its predecessors

In areas where Battlefield has always excelled and pushed forward, Hardline presents experiments, rather than refinements or fixes. The result is multiplayer that feels very familiar, very quickly. But its campaign, while feeling not completely sure about what it wants to be, is more interesting and certainly all-around better than the last few years' worth of Battlefield games. The result is something that's both less and more than its predecessors.

destructoid - 6/10

While Hardline is tone deaf at times, mostly it is just deafening. Explosions and bombast are used not to distract from a troubling narrative as much as a stale one perfunctorily paced and reminiscent of network television emptiness.

The Verdict

Battlefield Hardline feels like a valiant attempt from Visceral and EA, but the gritty crime drama that they're aiming for comes out as an underwhelming effort. Multiplayer offers some fun moments, but it doesn't do enough with the concept to feel like a major leap in the world of first-person shooters. Meanwhile, the campaign feels bogged down under the weight of silly cliches and doesn't offer enough of a tactical, strategic cop experience.

Hardline does show occasional flashes of brilliance, though, so there's definitely something worth pursuing here. With a stronger emphasis on open area stages and multiplayer modes that utilize the police arsenal, Visceral could craft something much stronger in the future. Further investigation is required.

IGN - Review Impressions

VideoGamerTV

I've played Battlefield 3 and I hated it. Reason being I couldn't free roam. It was like Forza where you're being led in a certain way to accomplish the task. My question is in this battlefield are you still led in a certain way?

I'm assuming you're talking about the story mode? And if that the case I only really played that for about 10 mins and yes it seems like you're being led. I mainly play games for the online experience though. I haven't finished a game in decades

about damn time!

I dislike BF 3 for this very reason...surprisingly advanced warfare does this too...I don't remember the other COD games (I've played up til black ops) doing this

re: sling TV...quality is pretty damn good...but when they show a new commercial or start a new show the quality drops horribly for a few secs...bearable tho...$20/mo adds up tho...not sure I'm willing to pay year round...might fuck w/ it just during the NBA playoffs

that is common practice in FPS games, the"lead players down corridors" play style..

and yes the story mode for Hardline is like playing thru an episode of a Fox or FX show that would be cancelled after like 8 episodes

idk if happy + iron are talking about the same thing as I am but in BF3 even tho there's room to wander if you stray too far they'll literally stop the game and restart the mission...they'd do a countdown saying you're moving too far from the area of battle...it happened to me in advanced warfare as well...I thought I cleared out an area and went wandering to look for more soldiers...got a warning saying I'm leaving the battle area or some shit to that effect and I didn't get back in time so I had to restart from the last checkpoint

Lol hell yea. After i quit they had a cut scene talking bout "coming up next time on hard line" I'm like wtf

Yo I paid in full Mortal Kombat X. The store employee said the fighting pack with Jason Vorhees yeah that Jason would be an extra 30 bucks. Is anybody buying the exta stuff or the special edition for $119.00 or $149.00

I would be willing to pay a higher one time fee and get every character for the game vs. what they're doing with the Killer Instinct franchise.

I don't know about $150 though.

There are 4 different special editions for mkx, the cheapest being 89.99. Me being the huge fan that I am reserved the 150 dollar version on amazon. Each special edition comes with the kombat pack (basically the dlc pack for 4 extra characters, 2 guest 2 classic).

yo game looks good...advanced warfare has been fun to the point where I feel I've written off FPSs too fast...if I see some more footage I like I'll have to pick this up...didn't like the multiplayer beta I saw on twitch a while back but the campaign looks good tho

 Acedveda from The Shield as your superior

 her walking at 14:01 mark onward

Yeah I am personally. I got super heated I threw my controller against the wall. Next morning I had the day off. I was pacing outside the store to trade that bullshit in. EA seems to fuck up everything.

ya I stopped playing BF3 immediately after that...I'm pretty sure I have an old rant somewhere on the board lol...this was on PS3

Edit there are four editions. One includes a comic book and another includes a scorpion action figure.
