Nah, Cox been with us for 3 seasons. he had 1 half of a good season last year, by the end Culliver was outplaying him by a whole lot and so was Dontae Johnson.

I wanted culliver but he got cut a fat check

Cox wasn't going to start for us regardless, Johnson is already better than him with way more potential. Bigger, faster and stronger.

we're going to address it with 1 vet, i don't know who and then we're going to get one in the draft.

Johnson had maybe 2 good games
Once teams had some tape on him, he got exposed
The last couple of games we played, Johnson got targeted & exposed big time
As a matter of fact, just last month I watched the Cards & Chargers games
Johnson is NOT ready to be a starter

But I do agree with the part about Cox
Cox was pretty good the 1st half of the season, then was kinda average the last half
Cully was the opposite
Cully started kinda average, then was playing pretty good the last half

Disagree Curt. Johnson wasn't getting exposed and his numbers don't back that up too, I posted them earlier in this thread... he was rated one of the best rookie corners in the league, right with jimmie ward rated towards the bottom. he's got 4.4 speed big strong and not scared to hit.

Yea Cox was lights out then tailed off that's why he got the deal he got. Culliver got overpaid it happens.

Curt!

When Johnson lines up in the Slot opposing QBs have a 43.8 NFL Rating when throwing into his direction. Thats the Third Lowest Rating in the NFL (the lower, the better).

1. Darrelle Revis NFL Rating 20.0

2. Brandon Flowers NFL Rating 33.8

3. Dontae Johnson NFL Rating 43.8

This season Johnson played a total of 225 snaps on defense (slot + outside) and has a NFL Rating of 65.2. Thats 14th best in the NFL (out of 117 CBs).

14. Dontae Johnson SF 65.2

------------------------------------------------

A few other notable rookies.

27. Jason Verrett SD 76.2
29. EJ Gaines SL 77.6
36. Phillip Gaines KC 80.6
64. Kyle Fuller CHI 93.3
75. Justin Gilbert CLV 99.0
81. Bradley Roby DEN 104.5
85. Bashaud Breeland WAS 108.9
113. Jimmie Ward SF 134.3

The percentage of receptions completed into his coverage (225 snaps / slot + outside) is 42.9. Thats 2nd Best in the NFL (out of 117 CBs)

2. Dontae Johnson SF 42.9

----------------------------------------------

3. Vontae Davis IND 45.0
4. RIchard Sherman SEA 45.1
.
8. Darrelle Revis NE 47.8

We should've drafted Johnson in the 1st round

Fam, Johnson gave up a bunch of big plays the last 2 games of the season against the Cardinals & Chargers
I distinctly remember that
It is what it is
We will see how he's improved when the preseason starts

Also, it could have been b/c the coaches switched him from an outside CB, to the nickel to cover the slot guys
When they asked him to cover the slot guys, thats when Johnson got exposed
To me he is an outside CB, just like Cully & basically the same size as Cully

Exactly right. but part of that is scheme too, for whatever reason we taught the trail technique for out slot corners. rogers, ward, johnson, cox...that's why they'd always be running behind the wr open. it was stupid.

but ideally johnson with his size speed and physical nature is an outside corner and brock on the other side.

LBOP if I find out you're Jed we fighting.

Nah man. I don't blame anybody for hating him. I don't like him either. He ain't bigger than the team imo.

Landed Torrey Smith- he could've went anywhere
Reggie bush chose us over the patriots.
Dockett chose us.
Resigned cook.
didn't blow our cap for culliver
did the right thing letting iupati, crab stevie and cox go.
skuta got paid $20 million dollars
gore got 2 years of guaranteed money and he wants to be the #1 back with no help (so just bench hyde, don't get bush, cut hunter to give gore his 300 carries)
signed o-line depth he is a horrible guard but he's here to play tackle.
signed wright for depth not expected to be a starter.
has all of these players returning to the roster...

i mean lets just look at it. we're doing what we're supposed to be doing to win. we needed speed...well here is reggie and torrey to go with vd.
got power with hyde.
big bodies on the line.
defensive front 7 is set, maybe pluck a linebacker in the 4th round.
safeties are more than set.
let the corners fight it out.
we're good to compete fam. that's not even a twist job or some spinning shit or anything that's what's actually happening.

and in the draft we'll do what we always do hopefully. best player available. and draft for future needs.
we snagged hyde borland johnson and lynch last year now all 4 could be starting..and not starting because they suck either but because they're all damn good.

shit doesn't always look good for us and the media pours it on extra but when you look at things objectively we're doing OK.

Who do we want?

Jaelen Strong or Devante Parker?

Honestly, I don't watch a lot of college games
But I have been checking out film/reports/youtube highlights of the different WR's
Here's what I observed...

Kevin White
Dude is explosive.
Will easily be a #1 WR in the league maybe even like the Giants WR Odell Beckham.
He has the strength to beat press coverage, has the speed to separate from DB's & get YAC, has the height for jump balls in the endzone.
The Raiders will probably take him, so we have little to no shot to get him.

Amari Cooper
Well rounded WR.
Runs great routes, not really great/elite in one category, but good in pretty much all things.
Honestly he reminds me of a slightly faster Crabtree (minus the injuries & diva personality).
Just like Crabs, Cooper isn't going to win many jump balls, fade routes in the endzone type plays.
And he has decent speed but is not a burner.
Also pretty good hands like Crabs.

DeVante Parker
I haven't gotten a chance to check out a lot of film on him yet.
I did notice that he seems to be a YAC player.
One thing that jumps out to me, is that he's pretty skinny.
So I'm not sure how he will hold up in the NFC West.

Jaelen Strong
Kaepernick is actually practicing with Strong & also Kevin White & Kurt Warner.
He reminds me of a slightly faster Anquan Boldin.
He won't get much separation, but he's a good possession WR, that can box you out in the red zone.
His game is power/strength/size.

Dorial Green Beckham
He's not as talented as Calvin Johnson , so you can forget that.
But he can probably be productive like Plaxico Burress was (before going to jail), or like the Panthers rookie Benjamin.
OR....he could be a constant screwup like Justin Blackmon.
OR....be lazy like Jon Baldwin.
Dude comes with a lot of baggage so I just don't know about him.
Not sure if Trent Baalke will take a chance drafting another problem player.

Devin Smith
This is the guy that I originally wanted.
I watched a couple of his Ohio State games.
Dude is basically a clone of Torrey Smith.
Before we signed Torrey, this was the dude I thought we would draft in the first round.
Devin Smith is a deep threat WR.
I liked the way he tracked the ball, & he's good at jump balls & is fast enough to stretch the field.
He plays faster than his combine numbers.

Other guys I've been hearing about are...
Sammie Coates, Breshad Perriman, Phillip Dorsett, Tyler Lockett
(All available in rounds 2-3)

We're kind of caught in the middle.
There will probably be a run on WR's around picks 5-12
Then maybe another run around picks 20-30

We might have to trade up to get (White, Cooper, Parker)
Or trade down & get (Strong, DGB, Smith, etc)

Or we could just stay put & draft best available player, if a good prospect slides to us.
Not sure which way they want to go.
I still like Devin Smith, to backup Torrey in case he gets hurt or something.
Or *MAYBE* DGB later in the round, to be our jump ball guy in the redzone.

I'm intrigued by DGB. Strong would be a reach that early, and i think Parker will be gone by that pick.

DGB is pretty fast, he runs a 4.4. which is insane with that height and adding him with torrey and vd would be great

Parker in college looked like the best wr in the draft this season.

i mention strong because i don't know if these top guys will be there. unless something crazy happens we have to trade into the top 8 in order to get white. i don't want us with cooper.

so maybe dgb or parker.. i agree with devin smith too

his 40 is very fast. my only complaint is he isn't as big as the other guys. dgb is 6'5 Parker is 6'3 and White is 6'0 Torrey Smith is 6'0 too.

I actually like Cooper the best out of all the WRs. White doesn't have as much consistent college production. A good portion of his buzz is because of his combine. That doesn't work out well too often.

And if a Danny Shelton or Brandon Scherf (sp) falls to our spot, i'd rather go that route than reach for a WR

I have a feeling like you said that Kevin White is gonna be ODBJR. 2.0

Brandon scherff isn't a bad pick here either... Team that blocks and tackles best wins 100% of the time... I'm turning the corner a LITTLE bit     , Reggie and Shareece are good ass pick ups... I'm still disappointed in the staff tho

All the moves we made were so that we could draft best player available in the draft. We'll just have to wait and see how the draft shapes up. I do want 1 of these wr's though because Boldin doesn't have long we need the next great wr.

There's still work for Baalke to do though:yes:

We need a big fast body imo at wr. But we don't have to worry about Cooper he'll be gone before we pick. I wouldn't mind Shelton or Scherf if it means we could get one of those and sneak and get a devin smith too then I'd be happy. I just don't want to miss out on a good wr.

This is a mediocre class for ILB/MLBs. No need to reach for one at 15. I think you can get a similar type prospect in the first few rounds.

I wish he would've told us this dumb shit before we drafted him and wasted a pick on him. we could have one of the other linebackers ready to step in now

here are the 1 on 1's with the coaching staff. just listen to them and what they want for the team and their backgrounds and everything i think you'll feel way better when you actually see the resume's and hear what they want for the team.

refreshing stuff...particularly listen to Logan and Mangini.

Another one of Trent's "chic" picks in the fuckin shitter... All I can say is wow and God fucking damn :smh:

Fuck trent, fuck Jed & fuck chris Borland

Another one of Trent's "chic" picks in the fuckin shitter... All I can say is wow and God fucking damn :smh:

Can't go there man. Borland was a beast. he was poised to step up but he decided to retire. Nothing was wrong with the pick from a player standpoint he knocked it out of the park.

Sucks he's gone but again, we can hope to find another gem or do something in free agency.

Waiting for LargeBills to spin this Chris Borland news as a positive...
Yea this team will be okay, yea we're going back to the SuperBowl this year
Good luck trying to stop Marshawn Lynch AND Jimmy Graham

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Chris Borland didn't retire...he quit...he quit on the team
If anyone would leave b/c of concussions I would expect for it to be Eric Reid
Justin Smith minus whale go ahead & say he's retiring too, spare us the drama

:hmm::hmm::hmm:
