Undercover ATF agents shoot at vehicle in Ferguson apartment complex
POSTED 3:04 PM, OCTOBER 17, 2014, BY JOE MILLITZER AND CHRIS HAYES, UPDATED AT 06:39PM, OCTOBER 17, 2014

FERGUSON, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis County police confirm there has been a shooting near the intersection of Ferguson Road and Sharondale. The shooting occurred on Friday afternoon near the Park Ridge apartments.
The Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms say they are investigating a gun store burglary. Witnesses described seeing undercover officers sitting in their cars all day. One man says it appeared officers were waiting for someone.

Just after 3pm the witnesses described ATF agents closing in a blue Chevy. They opened fire as it collided with an unmarked police car. Agents shot at two suspects at the Park Ridge apartments after they said the suspects tried to ram a police vehicle.

Investigators towed the suspect’s Chevy car parked on the grass near the apartments. One person was taken away by a stretcher to the hospital by ambulance. Officer’s told the victim’s mother that he was injured by shattered glass. No word on the condition of the second person in the vehicle.

The Park Ridge Apartments are also the scene of a shooting that occurred just over a week ago. The October 8th shooting happened within a few hundred yards of a state senator.

Police Officer in Ferguson Is Said to Recount a Struggle

WASHINGTON — The police officer who fatally shot Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., two months ago has told investigators that he was pinned in his vehicle and in fear for his life as he struggled over his gun with Mr. Brown, according to government officials briefed on the federal civil rights investigation into the matter.

The officer, Darren Wilson, has told the authorities that during the scuffle, Mr. Brown reached for the gun. It was fired twice in the car, according to forensics tests performed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The first bullet struck Mr. Brown in the arm; the second bullet missed.

The forensics tests showed Mr. Brown’s blood on the gun, as well as on the interior door panel and on Officer Wilson’s uniform. Officer Wilson told the authorities that Mr. Brown had punched and scratched him repeatedly, leaving swelling on his face and cuts on his neck.

This is the first public account of Officer Wilson’s testimony to investigators, but it does not explain why, after he emerged from his vehicle, he fired at Mr. Brown multiple times. It contradicts some witness accounts, and it will not calm those who have been demanding to know why an unarmed man was shot a total of six times. Mr. Brown’s death continues to fuel anger and sometimes-violent protests.

In September, Officer Wilson appeared for four hours before a St. Louis County grand jury, which was convened to determine whether there is probable cause that he committed a crime. Legal experts have said that his decision to testify was surprising, given that it was not required by law. But the struggle in the car may prove to be a more influential piece of information for the grand jury, one that speaks to Officer Wilson’s state of mind, his feeling of vulnerability and his sense of heightened alert when he killed Mr. Brown.

Police officers typically have wide latitude to use lethal force if they reasonably believe that they are in imminent danger.

The officials said that while the federal investigation was continuing, the evidence so far did not support civil rights charges against Officer Wilson. To press charges, the Justice Department would need to clear a high bar, proving that Officer Wilson willfully violated Mr. Brown’s civil rights when he shot him.

The account of Officer Wilson’s version of events did not come from the Ferguson Police Department or from officials whose activities are being investigated as part of the civil rights inquiry.

Graphic | What Happened in Ferguson? Why did the police shoot an unarmed black teenager in a St. Louis suburb, and what has unfolded since then? Here’s what you need to know about the situation in Missouri.

In the many accounts of Mr. Brown’s death, the most potent imagery has come from his final moments, when he and Officer Wilson faced each other on Canfield Drive. Some witnesses have said that he appeared to be surrendering with his hands in the air as he was hit with the fatal gunshots. Others have said that Mr. Brown was moving toward Officer Wilson when he was killed.

Few witnesses had perfect vantage points for the fight in the car, which occurred just after noon on Aug. 9. Mr. Brown was walking down the middle of the street with a friend, Dorian Johnson, when Officer Wilson stopped his S.U.V., a Chevy Tahoe, to order them to the sidewalk.

Within seconds, the encounter turned into a physical struggle, as the officer and Mr. Brown became entangled through the open driver’s-side window.

One witness, Piaget Crenshaw, said later that while she could not see clearly, it appeared Mr. Brown was “trying to flee.” Another witness, Tiffany Mitchell, said that she had watched with alarm from a close distance and that as the two briefly struggled, “Michael was pulling off and the cop was trying to pull him in.”

Darren Wilson, the officer who shot Mr. Brown, at a City Council meeting in Ferguson, Mo., in February.

Michael T. Brady, who lives nearby, said that the altercation was “something strange,” but that he could not tell exactly what was happening. “I can’t say whether he was punching the officer or whatever,” Mr. Brady said. “But something was going on in that window, and it didn’t look right.”

However, Mr. Johnson’s description of the scuffle is detailed and specific, and directly contradicts what Officer Wilson has told the authorities.

Mr. Johnson has said that Officer Wilson was the aggressor, backing up his vehicle and opening the door, which hit Mr. Johnson and Mr. Brown and then bounced back.

“He just reached his arm out the window and grabbed my friend around his neck, and he was trying to choke my friend,” Mr. Johnson told reporters after the shooting. “He was trying to get away, and the officer then reached out and grabbed his arm to pull him inside the car.”

Officer Wilson then drew his weapon, Mr. Johnson said, and threatened to shoot.

“In the same moment, the first shot went off,” he said. “We looked at him. He was shot. There was blood coming from him. And we took off running.”

Never, Mr. Johnson said, did Mr. Brown reach for the officer’s weapon.

The officials briefed on the case said the forensic evidence gathered in the car lent credence to Officer Wilson’s version of events. According to his account, he was trying to leave his vehicle when Mr. Brown pushed him back in. Once inside the S.U.V., the two began to fight, Officer Wilson told investigators, and he removed his gun from the holster on his right hip.

Chief Jon Belmar of the St. Louis County Police Department has said in interviews that Officer Wilson was “pushed back into the car” by Mr. Brown and “physically assaulted.” The department is conducting the local investigation into Mr. Brown’s death.

Spokesmen for the F.B.I. and the Justice Department declined to comment.

In an interview, Benjamin L. Crump, a lawyer for the Brown family, dismissed Officer Wilson’s account of what happened in the S.U.V. that day.

“What the police say is not to be taken as gospel,” Mr. Crump said, adding that Officer Wilson should be indicted by the grand jury and his case sent to trial. “He can say what he wants to say in front of a jury. They can listen to all the evidence and the people can have it transparent so they know that the system works for everybody.”

He added: “The officer’s going to say whatever he’s going to say to justify killing an unarmed kid. Right now, they have this secret proceeding where nobody knows what’s happening and nobody knows what’s going on. No matter what happened in the car, Michael Brown ran away from him.”

The grand jury has been meeting in Clayton, Mo., since Aug. 20. Robert P. McCulloch, the St. Louis County prosecutor, has said that he expects a decision on probable cause by mid-November.

Critics skeptical as Ferguson cop Darren Wilson says Michael Brown went for his gun

The Ferguson, Missouri police officer who shot and killed unarmed teen Michael Brown on Aug. 9 claims that Brown assaulted him while Wilson was inside his police cruiser.

The New York Times reported that Wilson told authorities investigating the killing that he was pinned in his vehicle and in fear for his life when he drew his service pistol and fired.

Wilson told investigators that Brown assaulted him after Wilson stopped him and another youth and told them to move from the street to the sidewalk. Wilson claims that when he attempted to exit his vehicle, Brown shoved him back into the door and began to punch and scratch him repeatedly while reaching for his gun.

Wilson fired the gun twice inside the vehicle, striking Brown once in the arm. CNN reported Saturday that Brown’s blood was found on Wilson’s uniform, on his gun and inside the vehicle.

Wilson did not explain, however, why he shot the youth five more times when — as witnesses have said — Brown was surrendering with his hands up when Wilson exited the vehicle.

The officer gave testimony as part of a grand jury investigation into the killing. The sources who spoke to the Times said that so far, the available evidence does not appear to support a civil rights suit against Wilson and the Ferguson Police Department.

In order to file a civil suit, the Justice Department would have to demonstrate that Wilson willfully denied Brown’s civil rights in the incident, and police are give a great deal of legal leeway in situations where they reasonably believe their lives may be in danger.

Witness testimonies differ from Wilson’s version of events. One witness in particular, Dorian Johnson, the youth who was walking with Brown, said that Wilson was the aggressor.

The officer, said Johnson, backed up his vehicle and angrily opened the door, which slammed into Brown and bounced back.

“He just reached his arm out the window and grabbed my friend around his neck, and he was trying to choke my friend,” Johnson said after the incident. “He was trying to get away, and the officer then reached out and grabbed his arm to pull him inside the car.”

Johnson said that Wilson then drew his gun and threatened to shoot.

“In the same moment, the first shot went off,” the youth said. “We looked at him. He was shot. There was blood coming from him. And we took off running.”

Brown family lawyer Benjamin L. Crump scoffed at Wilson’s version of events, saying, “What the police say is not to be taken as gospel.”

“The officer’s going to say whatever he’s going to say to justify killing an unarmed kid,” said Crump. “Right now, they have this secret proceeding where nobody knows what’s happening and nobody knows what’s going on. No matter what happened in the car, Michael Brown ran away from him.”

Darren Wilson’s Grand Jury Testimony Destroys Jim Hoft’s Bogus “Fractured Eye Socket” Claims for Good
It’s over, Jim. You can stop lying now.

Jim Hoft, liar
You may recall Jim Hoft’s now-infamous repeated claims that anonymous sources told him police officer Darren Wilson suffered an “orbital blowout fracture to the eye socket” in a struggle with unarmed teenager Michael Brown, before Wilson shot Brown to death.

LGF’s article debunking Hoft’s unsourced claims went viral on Twitter and Facebook, and now shows almost 250,000 views and many thousands of retweets and shares. Yet Hoft has continued to push this claim over and over, in almost everything he posts on the subject.

Well, today the New York Times has a report on the grand jury testimony of officer Wilson, and his account contains absolutely no mention of a fractured eye socket, or of any injuries more serious than scratches and swelling: Police Officer in Ferguson Is Said to Recount a Struggle.

Notice also that all of the blood found on Wilson’s gun, inside the car, and on Wilson’s uniform belonged to Michael Brown — not to Darren Wilson. So clearly, if there was a struggle at all (about which there remains considerable doubt) the only person who came away from it with serious injuries was Michael Brown.

So how does the Dumbest Man on the Internet cover the story, now that his claims are totally destroyed by Wilson’s own testimony? With yet another deceptive, misleading headline: NY Times: Michael Brown Beat Officer Darren Wilson Before His Death - Blood Found on Wilson’s Gun | the Gateway Pundit.

Notice that Hoft phrased his crummy headline to give the impression that the blood on Wilson’s gun came from Michael Brown’s “beating,” when it was actually Brown’s blood from Wilson shooting him.

Hoft even has the gall to claim that the New York Times article backs up his accounts.

The New York Times story mirrors what The Gateway Pundit reported in August on the attack.

If you click the link Hoft posts to his own site, you’ll notice something odd; suddenly, for the first time, he’s no longer linking to his “fractured eye socket” post, but to one of his earlier posts before he started pushing his false story.

The only question remaining now is whether Hoft actually did have anonymous sources in the St. Louis County PD and prosecuting attorney’s office, as he said, or whether he just completely made up this story. In other words, lied like a rug.

I strongly suspect the latter.

I find this one funny....can't be true

Food for thought in regards to Wilson's statement

He stated Brown went for his gun while still in the SUV.. Wilson is a right handed shooter so his gun is holstered on the right side of his body. That means Brown would have had to reach all the way over into Wilson's truck across Wilson's person to get a holstered gun that's in a locked position

So now that we know that reaching for the gun is bullshit the question is why did Wilson draw his gun on 2 people that were jaywalking?

That cac need his wig split and throw at the bottom of the fuckin jail

Damn, I didn't even think about that. :smh::smh::smh:

Has there ever been dash cam footage released?

If so what's there excuse for not releasing it or the audio of it?

The dash cam doesn't come on until you double tap the gas, then brake, then tune the radio to 91.1. <---Sounds like bullshit, but I guarantee their "excuse" will sound much more ridiculous than that.

With 2 months to prepare his case... he obviously told the grand jury he got punched several times first, before he drew his weapon and Brown fought him for it.

It only took me 30 seconds to make up that lie... And Wilson had 60 days to cover his ass.

It's sad the majority of America is happy with being well uninformed by the mainstream media. I know my philosophy professor would be happy to see us questioning everything. "Believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear" is in full effect with the media today.
