What happend to the black people that ruled europe?

Yeah I didn't mention it cuz.. Well, Arabs dominating the rest of the peninsula they're already on doesn't really count as an invasion. Once they crossed over to the continent and invaded the Berbers and whatever else they called the tribes of indigenous North Africans who were there, that's when shit gets poppin and all this Moor talk comes up.

The term MOOR refers to a culture and not a color anyway, but if we're gonna apply a look or body type to it in the way that we're accustomed to today, that would beat be described by ARAB.

And even that's a culture more than a color but I'm trying to work with words the way we use it.

Bump on both of y'all post in regards to info.

Title throws off context, Black as in those current Africans then as opposed to just brown skinned people who weren't African.

Basically there in no "African" invasion of Europe.

1)Moor means black.

2)Most(as high as 90%) were black; as were most of the generals and soldiers, but the ruling class was Arab.

3)The Arabs dind't invade Africa. The Hyksos(an arab tribe) had been in Egypt for 100 years but, after the death of the Pharoah Muhamed, they seized power in the confusion(around 1700 bc).

We did have a discussion as to what was 'Moor' a few months back...think the thread got to about 3 pages or so. The board was heavily divided.

When you think about the invasion of Europe as it pertains to Black people you'll have to look at the points closest for this to happen such as Spain (the Iberian Peninsula) and Italy as someone mentioned earlier. East Europe is a mixed bag when you consider (theories of origin) the Muslims coming in from Turkey and east Asian influence in what would be the Eastern bloc. Even today Russians have some real physical features that heavily resemble groups of the Chinese. The further you get from the Mediterranean Sea, the more you have to look.

However, we have discussed Iberia...we have discussed Italy and its islands...but I don't think we have touched the commonly used term "olive complected" people of Greece. That might open up some new information on that corner of the land.

I'll be watching.

NOW exiledking thinks some of the moors were black.

Go back and read the thread. SOME Americans are Black as well... I made the same comparison in the other thread.

Brown skin people (if you mean like tan...) are also African. Paler skinned people are also African.

Africa is EXTREMELY diverse. NORTH AFRICA CULTURALLY and climate wise, tends to fall right in with the rest of the MAGHREB.... arab culture. EVEN BEFORE the ones who came out of Arabia spreading Islam made it there. Berbers... those Khadafi claimed descendence from.

1)Moor means black.

1)Moor means BLACK in what language?

2)How did you determine such a count? (90%) Where would these Black folks come from? You do realize theres a Sahara Desert between North Africa and West Africa, yes? How does it get to be predominately Black to the point of 90% in the 10th century, but not that by now? Is there some mass extermination we aren't told about?

3) how can you say the Arabs didn't invade Africa?

Never heard of the Ummayad caliphate? Is that made up?

And as it pertains to #2, where did all these Back folks go, if there was no Arab invasion, even AFTER 1200? If no Arab invasion EVER happened, then it seems all those Black Moors would still be present even in North Africa.

North Africa is FAR from 90% Black now... what happened?

Arabia connects directly to North Africa AND Europe. You can walk right on into Egypt from there. Call Arabia Asia, or whatever ya wanna call it. Muhammad created Islam and spread it from out of there. The remnants of it are still there. And yeah, they got it into EUrope for a minute.

West Africa is SOuth of the Sahara Desert. There is no clear path that any mass amount of people would be traveling, ESPECIALLY NOT an army. From East to west below that desert is BLACK PEOPLE. Ethiopia, Kenya, Chad, Niger, parts of Mali, Mauritania, Nigeria, all that. Theres a plot of land bigger than the US between that territory and North Africa, which is only a short jump across the mediterranean sea to Souther Europe.

Arabs are from Arabia. It's really that simple.

This is a map of the Reconquista. The Europeans fight to regain control of the area. The green is Moor controlled land.

Spanish_reconquista.gif

This is a portrait of Muhamad XII surrendering Greneda to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella in 1492

spanish-history-reconquista.jpg

The fucked up part is before Grenada fell the Spanish were attacking a nearby Moor city(can't remember the name) and they told the Sultan of Grenada they would be spared if they didn't interfere. But later, After their wedding, Isabella told Leopold she wanted the entire country to be christian. Who know what would have happened if Grenada joined the fight.

So.... We've been being pump-faked for centuries... :smh:

The reason why I stated the previous like I did is because in my mind I'm thinking there would be another debate as to the make up of Arabs, like we had here with the Moors.

Turkey is smack dab in the middle so no doubt that could be the center of exchange among other points.

That was me playing migration advocate for a second. But I totally get where you're going.

History always repeats itself...same script different actors playing the role...if you don't know your past...I can tell you who I want you to be in the future if you have no knowledge of self....like how Elvis "created" rock and roll.......they would have you believe Europeans were the first to navigate the oceans and hell these days would have you believe they were the ones who built the pyramids based on what Hollywood shows.

^^^Well put.

Pictures of a few black people? No don't ignore that, but if you're gonna look past whole mosques and millions of writings IN ARABIC, as well as the history told by ARABS (ibn batutta, ibn khaldun) from the era who tell you where they're from (Syria, morocco, etc)

And ZERO west African historians, nothing written in any of the languages that actually come from west Africa, ZERO west African art or cultural effects....

You wanna ignore all that, then hey- be my guest.

There's no question there were SOME black folks involved, but by and large, that's an Arab movement fam. North Africa.

Many people hear the word AFRICA and equate it to Black.

There's a desert larger than the United States in between North Africa and west Africa.

In between North Africa and Europe is just the Mediterranean Sea. To the east is a path to Arabia. We all know Muhammad (an Arab) came up with Islam and where he came up with it - Arabia. He did it in 700.

The ARABIC language comes from guess where? ARABIA. They made a path with their language, religion and culture all the way west to Europe AND sub Saharan Africa, trading and fighting from 800AD on.

The Arabs invaded Africa BEFORE Europe. I still don't see how flipping to the side of invaders is winning. It's like if the Spanish just flipped and then did what the Arabs wanted. And Islam is an Arab religion. Period. End of story.

The Arabs came out of Arabia on a mission and truly spread Islam by the sword. Who was first on the hit list?

:yes::yes::yes::yes:

interesting question is...

If the Moors were Black and created all this wonderful shit in Europe that still stands... educated them, civilized them, etc... then why didn't they go and build all these lovely temples in West Africa the same way they did in Europe?

We see em in Arabia. We see em in North Africa. We don't see it in Sub Saharan Africa really. Kinda stops in the Sahel, and they damn sure aint built as solid as what they did in places their descendants currently live.

And if they were predominately Black in as late as the 14th century in North Africa.... where did they go? How all them white lookin North Africans get to be the dominant look in 600 years? Did the Moors just up and disappear?

The Moors were Black..Most of the depictions of the Moors showed them as Black

Most? Did you just post MOST of em? Or did you just post one?

You saying if you and I decided to go tit for tat and post every pic we could find that shows Moors you'd find more than me?

And how are these Black men speaking and writing in Arabic? Building mosques? They invented Islam? Or did they take it from the Arabs and run to Europe with it? I'm confused.

It's cherry picking like religion.

Arabs invade Africa = overlooked.

The invaded invade Europe bringing the language and religion of the original invaders =

And the Moors aren't even needed to be proud of black history.

Go back and read the thread. SOME Americans are Black as well... I made the same comparison in the other thread.
Nope. Your orginal assertion- which you were adamant on- was the Moors were not black. Period.

Which is why its hilarious seeing you wax poetic like some learned historian on the matter now.

You say they WERE BLACK- period.

Here's my assertion, since you wanna twist it.

The Moors are an Arab culture PREDOMINATELY. THEY INVADED WEST AFRICA AND EUROPE. when they invaded Europe certainly some Black folks were in the mix but an overwhelming percentage of them would not be what we call black today. They would be what we call Arab. They spoke Arabic. Their religion is of Arabic origin, their culture and art is Arabic. And I'll repeat it again for reference and comparison The Moors were less Black than present day America is.

The scholars who wrote about them are Arabic. Not ONE black writer of history among them.

The same area in the present day reflects it as it was then. If it wasn't, explain how it got to be like it is now.

You find one pic out of 20 with a Black face and wanna jump for joy. If you really read some African history you wouldn't need to be proud of that silly shit lol

Out of all the people you just named, please find an image of any of them from the TIME PERIOD THAT WAS CONTEMPORARY TO THEM. Don't find some modern, white washed picture and claim that is what Moors looked like. Find paintings from the middle ages of a white moor, where the painting states that the person is a moor.

It's ok. Nice tactic of trying to passive aggressively mock what I'm saying but it doesn't actually prove your point. Nice if you'd rather play childish games rather than get to the information. If all you got is names to call then I'll just go back to ignoring you.

You just posted a picture of Averroes and tried to pass him off as a Moor.. There are no references to him being a Moor.Thats why scholars say claim he was Moor-ISH..Meaning kind of like a moor..Can you please post something that states the person is a MOOR and they look white...

Sounds like you are copping out..I just posted a group of Moors with very Black skin fighting a group of white soldiers. And the pic is from the actual time period when the Moors ruled that area.

But according to you the moors were not Black..So we should believe you and not our lying eyes?

Out of all the people you just named, please find an image of any of them from the TIME PERIOD THAT WAS CONTEMPORARY TO THEM. Don't find some modern, white washed picture and claim that is what Moors looked like. Find paintings from the middle ages of a white moor, where the painting states that the person is a moor.

You're not making any sense.

And I guess you're not gonna spend any real time addressing any of it.

MoorISH instead of MOOR... Lol ok

I posted actually Moors. Hundreds of em.

You can't name ONE person, and provide a Pic of a Black man from that era or even slightly behind it. You can find a few pics with nameless Black faces, but for some reason NOT ONE known leader.

I post names including the name of the general directly responsible for leading the first attack and win that made the place called Al Andalus, yet you're still asking me for contemporaries.

I don't get it. Don't play word games. I gave you a list and all you can do is ASSERT who you think they really are with no evidence.

All this Arabic and you just wanna snap your fingers and wipe that away. Boom. Now they're Black lol.

Just name me someone. Who is this great Black Moorish general? Philospher? Mathematician? Artist? Anyone you can link to? Surely you could with ALL THEM BLACKAMOORS on the shields and in all those pics everywhere.

And again... Where did they go? Once they left Southern Europe did they go back to North Africa? Then what? Where are there descendants?

Oh that's right, in America. So how did this nation get over still as this great moorish nation in tact. No writings? None? Not even an artifact?

Somehow the people even named a country MOROCCO Later, yet, no great Black leaders were a part of that, nor the Ottoman Empire formed after that. In Turkey you start to see all these names that somehow these modern Black moors in America now decide to use- they can call themselves BEY, and other titles, yet no evidence of that existing at any other point in history between 700 ... Til 1920, the time the moorish science temple appears in our community.

And somehow all of this is disconnected from West African history that we have tons of documented evidence from DNA to language to art and culture... All this connects us to THAT. But fuck that, who wants to be THOSE PEOPLE?

I do. You can lie to yourself about who you are if you want to. I'm proud of my real heritage. I ain't running to be no damn 8th century Arab.

The op got it right w the original question that none of you have even attempted to answer: WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM?

There you go misappropriating terms again. Theres nothing passive aggressive about calling you out on your shit. Saying you are a googling historian and fraud is a factual observation. As for getting in the actual back and forth on the merits, its useless and circular at this point. Its all been said and proven before. You're a fraud bro. And you're clueless. Im merely here laughing at your tired routine while communicating to casual readers that you are full of shit and have been thoroughly worked on this and other related topics countless times.
